ninja_turtle : I just had dinner with my husband's uncle tonight who is visiting from Canada. He was saying over there they get 12 months paid maternity leave!!! At my work I have 6 months paid which is pretty good. 12 months would be even better though!

Kellie: Ryan's cheeks were really rosy before his teeth showed up. He would always cry during a feed and would just be so grizzly!! Oh!!! And the biting down on your nipple? Definitely a sign!!! Ryan did this about 2 weeks before his first tooth showed up!

Trish: Oh! I used to live in Forest Hill two years ago. On Canterbury Rd near Forest Hill Chase. They're done alot with that shopping centre now. It's actually decent!

Nic: We go to Carluccis quite a bit. I LOVE their cakes!!! Congrats on the house! That's very exciting!

Seeing as I'm new, I thought I would share some photos of Ryan. Hope that's ok.

Ha..even I lived in Doncaster... when I was a kid! Went to good Ol Milgate Primary School!

Viv It's good to talk about stuff other than drool..... Did it make you want to go back to work or stay as a SAHM! Very good thoughts though. We are very behind. My english cousin got paid. My boss couldn't wait to get me out the door. I guess I worked for a bunch of chauvanistic (sp?) pigs! They would def be the type to not employ anyone with ovaries!

francesca Love the piccies of Ryan, it's good having more people around to share with Oh and did Ryan like to make out with your chin while teething? Max is always hanging onto mine, just biting! I probably shouldn't encourage it huh!!

Gotta go, Max is on my lap and keeps bashing t he keyboard! off for feed then play!

Sorry I missed the end of the last thread and just skimmed here

Must run as I need to sew.

Paid Mat Leave - I am all for it. I have got big fat 0 with both of my kids. They couldn't wait for me to leave as they knew I could not return within the 6 months.

Teething - I have an Amber Teething necklace for Amara and I swear it works. The days I put it on she is much happier. Still rivers of drool and chewing chewing chewing but happier. I highly recommend them for boys and girls. NB they do not chew it they wear it and the amber supposedly has an effect on the pain of teething.

    Must dash,
    Hugs,

We have started Myles on mash and he is seems to like it! We also got one of those teeth er things so will try it out tomorrow!

Sorry about my self indulgent post yesterday I was just so shaken up about him falling off the bed! # times in a week so my heart was pretty broken! Also i don't think your a bad mum if your bubba falls off or gets hurt its just how i felt

Saffi glad you got your car seat! I thin its the same as ours! Great work on getting L to sleep like that! Maybe he could come talk to Myles!

kellie - the nurse says that the movement below the gum is the most painful part for some kids. she says they're not coming out yet but with the excessive drooling, hard chewing of wood and anything else he can find and the crying at night (which he never does), i'm pretty sure they're on the move under the gum.

he only woke for food last night, no patches of just needing to be resettled (not like night before every hour and a half). seems unscientific so far but he slept better... could be the chamomilla... *ooh*

eta: julia - it's nice to know my brain isn't permanently in park. not planning on lawyering until he's in kindy or at school (gotta pay for his expensive schooling somehow, huh?). soon i plan to go back to 'yummy mummy modelling' with the boy in tow. probably when he is getting some real food down his gullet.

    Afternoon all

L's just gone down for his afternoon sleep so popped in for an update.

Francesca - great photos of Ryan. I love the one in his bumbo (aren't they great?). Love the message on the t-shirt.
Nic - congratulations on the house.
    Viv - here here!
    Trish - rest up.

We bought the car seat for L yesterday. A SnS Meridian AHR Retractor. Very posh looking. In the end couldn't be bothered trying to compare all the features, shop around for the best price etc. Good thing about the one we got is that it sort of matches the beige upholstery inside the car.
We bought one of those mesh feeders. Got the Sassy brand that has the cover and the water filled handle. Haven't tried it out yet.

Can't remember if I mentioned last time, but all week I have been keeping L up for as long as I can after his last feed. I think my persistance is working as he has been waking at around 4am, having a feed and then will sleep until 7ish. Did need to do a dummy check at 2am this morning, but apart from that been going really well. Now if only I can get him to sleep 7pm to 7am.
