Morning!
Feeling really tired. L was up at twice overnight for the past couple of nights, so not as much sleep for me
Certain L is teething. Practically every nappy for the last 3 - 4 days has been pooey, he is tugging his ear a bit and gnawing on his hand and drooling more than usual. Also only been doing short day sleeps. My BabyLove book says that these signs don't mean teething - but I'm not so certain. Could be weeks yet before they come thru!
Day at home today. Got heaps of ironing to do. Can only hope that L lets me do it. Also want to catch up on sleep too.
Sounds like all the bubs are doing really well in their weight gains and development. Well done mummies!

don't know if it's a spooky coincidence but the girl i delivered the curry to yesterday went into labour last night. same time i did after eating it... oooh. how... boogedy. she was 3 minutes apart when she emailed me (what a champ) and is having a home, water, VBAC with a doula. she is a brave little monkey. i hope her bundle is here by now - really hope she didn't have a 23 hour slammer like mine.
saff - do you rate the Babylove book? should i get it?

Viv - whats the name of that curry powder?? Might be useful to remember at some point in the future.
BabyLove - generally I rate it very highly. It has a lot of information in it and generally doesn't advocate one approach or another. She supports the theory that babies are individuals and tries dispel some of the myths around childhood development and milestones. Sometimes this is frustrating in the face of overwhelming information from mums etc that "prove" otherwise. Any information can't hurt. I also have her Baby and Toddler Meal book which I can't wait to use the recipes from.
L is down for a sleep. Been an hour so far. Tried to sleep myself, but didn't happen. Catching up on some stuff. Maybe this afternoon....

i actually only know the curry by its packet. it is the most authentic curry i've had in a packet. will look next time i'm in the supermarket.

I see teeth! Just felt along his lower gum and felt some sharp little edges and a couple of white lumps. That would explain all the symptoms I have been seeing over the past few days. I don't believe it is a coincidence!

ETA: my curry leads to caesarean. my friend was ferried off to hospital at around lunch time after trying at home for 10 or so hours and had a bouncy boy by c-sec. i'm hoping to visit her tomorrw.

Hi all! Just popping in quickly while at my mum's. She is being wonderful and not letting me do a thing! Joel is having a ball following his "Pop Pop" around. DH is coming over for dinner tonight so he can see his boys. K has been having great day naps since seeing our usual chiro yesterday thank goodness! The chiro has given me some strategies for sleeping through the night so I am trialling it while I'm at mum's and can rest during the day. He did well last night with it and didn't feed until 6am (after a 10pm dream feed) and then went to sleep straight afterwards until 8:30am, that's a pretty good start!
Viv - Congrats to your friend! Funny about the curry, people do swear by it.
Willow - Oh no, I'm glad L is OK after his fall! He is such a fantastic weight, well done to you!
Saffi - Yay for L cutting some teeth! Hopefully things will calm down for a little while now for you.
Nic - Wow at Tyron's weight!! What a big healthy boy! You are doing such a great job with your boys. How are you feeling lately?

Trish - want to share the secret? L was doing longer night sleeps but then relapsed the last few nights. Hope it is because of the teeth. Did 2 long sleeps today which is more than the past few days so here's hoping.

Trish- Do share! Lu's seems back to good sleeping but always good to have a trick or two up the sleeve.
Have been doing a little reading on introducing food. Thinking of heading down the infant led weaning/feeding road. The last couple of days i have just given L finger food. Well cooked brocolli, zuchinni, pumpkin and carrot, cut into chip size bits. She made a huge mess, but fed herself quite happily. I'd say about 30% ended up in gob, 70% on her, high chair and floor. I was amazed at how well she could chew. She did get a little frustrated at times as the little guts couldn't get in as much as she would like.
I know they need iron, that is why rice cereal has iron in it. However, i don't think it is a coincidence that babies on rice cereal seem to get constipated. Iron causes constipation in some adults. So not so much cereal here, more fruit and veg. Seems to be helping the bowel movements!
On a me note........... does anyone feel like the walls are closing in? It's not that i am bored as such, how can you be with a 6 month old baby, but i just feel like it's ground hog day. Don't get me wrong, love my baby, love being a mum, i guess i just miss the old spontaneous event filled life of yester-year.
Anyway, just having a whinge cause i can.............. baby sleep vibes coming at ya'll!

Viv - If you would like Bablylove you can have mine for free I don't use it and am not a fan of Robyn Barker. Among other things I find she dismisses anecdotal stuff from Mum's without any real reason. I think she even says she does not think teething has any effect, I woudl like her to explain why Eliza got and ear infection with every tooth then LOL! But it does have some useful stuff in there.
For babysitters for Eliza we have only ever asked my Mum. Oh and once a close friend for my Nana's funeral. Amara has not been babysat proper as yet, just about 1/2 hour with Mum when I piked up Eliza at preschool. Eliza is nearly 4 and she has only ever stayed away for 1 night and that was when Amara was born. Its aperson al thing but I don't think she is old enough for overnighters yet, and I don't like to impose on Mum so we don't have her looked after much at all.

Feeling a bit down as the launch of my bamboo nappies was a bit slow. I think it was too soon after the GDUNH. I had already decided to scale down anyway and I am going to be doing soem actual paid work for another nappy maker. We need something a bit more regular to pay for preschool. I will still make some but I am feeling a bit sad that these will be the last of my own label nappies I will make for a while. I am sure I will get over it though LOL...

New behaviour to report - high pitched squealing. Whats with that??? He's only been doing it for a day and already its getting annoying.
Went and visited a couple of day care centres this morning where L is waitlisted. I think you really get a feel for the place by talking with the Director and staff and looking at the environment. One place provides meals and also cloth nappies. I think that is great and doesn't appear to be any more expensive than the places that don't. Going to try to visit another this afternoon if L wakes in time. Poor thing was dragged around town and was so tired.
Leah - agree that Robyn Barker dismisses ancedotal observations too readily. I can only explain all the changes I have just seen in L down to teething and sure enough he teethed. I refuse to believe it is a coincidence.
Ange - yeah, I feel like that too. DH asked recently if I was bored and while I'm not bored the days are very boring. Same old routine day in and out. I will be back at work in a month so my time at home will be ending and in many ways I will miss it.

Leah that's on my side town about 1 hr from me, never been there but i hear it's very quiet out there.

Amara was a nappy model for another Aussie cloth nappy company today, too cute. She is a poser, smiling at the photographer and playing with her feet. She got to wear the cutest bright yellow nappy and funky Baby Legs legwarmers.
She also slept from 11pm until 5am !!! Yay
Of course now she is asleep when I have to go get Eliza from preschool, I hate waking her....

Leah - if that book is going begging i'll certainly have it. i'm about reading everything i can get my hands on then making my own decisions. it was recommended to me by another mum IRL and i never got round to getting it.
ok guys - today was f$#%ked.
the good news - my little boy was an absolute angel at the hairdressers. he happily played in his stroller, flirted with the girls, bounced on my lap then fell asleep. when he woke he played some more and impressed them all with how much of a 'good boy' he was. it's no secret he loooves the ladeez, so maybe i should go girly places more often.
The bad news - my haircut suuuucks. i swear i cried the whole way home. (haven't done that since i was pregnant and the tart dyed my hair almost black when i'd been systematically lightening it for 6 months). gah. anyway, it is a retarded pixie thing and i look like a 45 year old newsreader. i'm talking to a friend of mine about fake ponies and extensions because i can't stand it like this. the foils were good, but as usual, this hairdresser is FIRED (she was exxy too).
i can still get it back into a tiny little baby pony so i'm hoping i'll just brown bag my head, wig, fake pony, do whatever until it grows. dh hasn't seen it but when i phoned him crying he said, 'let's make a pact now that you won't cut your hair again'.
i swear to god i took THREE pictures of the haircut and she 'interpreted' a pretty weird way. we mums don't need a bad 'do' to make us feel worse about ourselves.
so - yeah, i'm examining fake hair avenues in the meantime with my friend whose hair was burnt off with bleach by some tart who she is now suing. expert in fake hair.
off to visit my c-sec friend tonight (with hair in pony, no doubt)

Took L for his follow up appt with the paed at the hospital today - all good! He checked his eye for me too and said it's nothing to be overly concerned about and to just wait to see the eye specialist in a few weeks. Is happy with his head growth and we don't have to see him again till November when he's 12 months!
Awwww Viv, that sucks! But I've seen you're pics on FB babe, it'd take a lot more than a dodgy haircut to make you look bad!! Hope it grows out real fast.
Mo - good luck with the move! It always rains when we move too!
Trish - hope you're enjoying the break at your mum's. would love to have mine around. She's coming down tomorrow actually with my dad for the weekend, it's my niece's bday.
Saffi - the screaming is a stage, promise! We went through it about 3 weeks ago and he doesn't do it anymore thank god. Talk about ear piercing....congrats on the teeth! Still no sign of them here.

Aw Viv, can understand your devistation, my hair is short at the moment and am dying to be able to tie it back. I think I'm just going to go the MEGGA short do instead....rather than wait for it to grow! Not sure if a short stocky chick would be able to pull it off though....grrr!!

Hairdresses have too much power. She was probably p1ssed that you look better than her and she hasn't even had a baby! I had a bad cut while pregnant and fat. feel for ya NT.
Leah- i looked at your kiz in cloth site and can't see any bamboo nappies????? am i looking in the wrong spot love?

Was going to try and go to Spotlight tonight to get fleec to make some ponchos, Amara would not settle and Eliza is being a pest so looks like its a no go - again!!! I WANT A LIFE, just for a few hours.......
