Well that's what we were asking Trish - when do they need water? Apparently BF babies don't until much later on...say 9-12 months, even later depending on how much they're feeding. One mum there with older kids (and an ABA counsellor) said her babies never had it. Apparently breast milk will adjust to suit the babies needs and if a baby is thirsty, they will take the watery foremilk and leave the rest, just to quench their thirst.
With DD I offered water when she was on about 2 meals a day of solids. Having said that, when I think back, she barely touched it till she was much older.
WTG on the nap! I have heard of that technique actually. It was suggested to me with DD but I can't remember if we had any success with it. L had one great sleep today, over 2 hours but then only about an hour this arvo. When I went in to try to resettle him he wouldn't resettle. It was only when I went in to get him up that I realised his music had stopped - it spooks him if he wakes up to silence!
