trish - it could be carrot. jj had an under-chin rash the day before yesterday (after two days of carrot). i skipped a day and tried him again today. i'll watch for more rash. the only thing that makes me think it's not carrot is that under chin and behind knees are heat areas... so maybe with being sick there's been fever and sweating?

what about laundry powders and bath stuff? any change?

Hmm...maybe it could be the carrots? I haven't changed our laundry powder and I only bathe him with water and a wash cloth (except his hair which I wash every couple of days with Gaia shampoo, but I have been using that forever too). I hope it's just the tail end of a virus, but I'll stop giving him carrots and reintroduce them later and see what happens.

I gave him Rafferty's organic porridge this morning and after his nap he kept chucking up, heaps. I wonder if his body didn't like that either?

i'll be honest, he did get a bit more chucky after carrot, after pretty much stopping the chuck thing altogether.... hmmm... :detective:

    Good afternoon everyone!!
Its been ages since I have had a chance to check in and say hi!! I have returned to almost full time work now (34 a week) and its hectic at work and at home!
Anyway - to all the milestones and anniversaries and all the other fun stuff that I have missed - CONGRATS TO MUMS AND BUBS!!
It has pretty much been easy going here. Caitlyn is sitting up all by herself and only falling backwards when we walk past her into another room and she tries to follow us.
Solids all the way - down to 3 - 4 bottles a day and only one wake up at night and most times she doesnt even want a bottle then - just a hello call I think. Is loving all that we can get into her mouth. Potato, pumpkin, squash, zucchini, carrot, sweet potato, apples, pear, watermelon, rockmelon, honeydew melon. The list goes on. We were eating weetbix for breakfast but have now changed that to the Rafferty's organic porridge and we add a litle apple for taste.
Still no go on the water. She loves her cup though. We took the one way valve out of it cause she had to suck so hard to get anything out and was getting so frustrated because the teat thing was shaped differently. So now she tips it up, stuff comes out, she spits it back out. Although I must admit that some does get down!
Daycare is going great - but I think she is starting to realise that I am leaving and she has a hissy fit! But as soon as I shut the door - she stops and is all giggly.
She is sooooo very talkative! Chats to herself in the cot all night I reckon.
I can't belive that I have missed so much - I have been really slack on checking things!
Anyway - had best get back to work - I am sorry this is such a me/us post - will try and do some catch up reading shortly!!

Wow - I need to update my ticker!!!

    Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing well and are getting lots of sleep.

I have another question for you. Regarding solids. We really want to get Ethan to eat home cooked food as it is better for him and cheaper. Have tried potato, pumpkin, sweet potato and carrot but he doesn't want any of them. He will eat these in jars. What do I do? Do I just give him the jars and have a happy baby or do I keep going?

E had some toast this morning. I gave him the crust cut up into finger. He loved it. He ripped off pieces with his gums and then sucked and munched until it disintegrated. He started to choke on a bit but I was there to help so no worries.

Hope you all have a great night.

Alz - Have you experimented with the consistency of your homemade food? Do you think Ethan would be more likely to eat it if it is the same consistency as the jarred stuff? I add some cool boiled water to my mashed or pureed vegies to make it into a smooth paste. If you are happy to keep giving him jarred food though then keep at it. Babies change what they like all the time, so he might start to like your homemade food a bit later.

Becky - How'd the chicken go? I'm scared to try meat!

Rebecca - Great to hear from you! I've been wondering how you've been.

Viv - Hmmm...indeed. I will give it a few more days for the carrot to get out of K's system and see if he is any better. He has been chucking heaps today, but I really think it was that porridge... That's great James has stopped chucking so much.

Alz- have you tried apple or pear? Maybe a sweet fruit will appeal. if he liked the finger food why not try some well cooked sticks of pumpkin, zucchini, carrot etc. He might like it better if he gets to do it himself.
L is funny, sometimes she will only have finger food, sometimes she wants me to feed her.

Otherwise, as Trish says they change their minds as often as i change my undies, weekly, so things might be different next week!

    Hi all

Big day today. L had his first day at daycare. He didn't sleep much but seems to be okay. When DH arrived to pick him up L was crying and no staff were attending too him. Just hope that is a one off! I rang during the day to check up and the Director asked how I was doing. How sweet. Next day is Friday.

    L is 7 months today.

Rebecca - hi I was wondering how you were getting on. Re the sippy cup, we got a Nuby cup from Target. They are antispill as well but are also valveless. L seems to really like drinking from it.

Alz - Maybe there is something in the texture of the homemade food that is different?? We introduced L to canned pears first and when he liked it I then made it from fresh fruit. Technically the cans are made from the same stuff as you would do at home. So maybe you can mix the canned stuff with the homemade and then reduce the amount of canned and increase the fresh until he's eating all homemade.

Strange that the BB Centre is not pram friendly. I thought that would be high on the priority list

L is going ahead in leaps, literally. He is trying so hard to crawl, but he ends up doing a sort of hop like a rabbit. So cute. Tonight he ate a serve of pumpkin and then a serve of pears. DH says he gobbled down the pumpkin. So far he eats pear, pumpkin and sweet potato. Might look at apple or maybe carrott next.

Work going well. Was in a day long course on stats. Found it hard to focus on it after a night of interupted sleep. Hopefully tomorrow will be quieter.

Hope Mums and Bubs are all healthy and happy.
