i won't be next, that's fer sher. two reasons... 1) i'm banned from it for a year because of the scar... which still has an ugly flap of swollen skin that hangs over a little :blech: and 2) i'm only just getting the suss on this one....

I shudder at the thought, but............. i think a few years down the track i would like kids close-ish together. Being UTD again has no appeal WHAT SO EVER, infact i don't know how i would cope.
Guess everyone manages somehow........i think we will try again when guni turns 1.

Any remedies for nocturnal cough? She has a dry cough but only when she's sleeping. Have got the vaporizer going.. (is the z American? or is it always spelt like that? that's how it is on the box anyhooo! OT) i was thinking of putting books under one end of the cot to elevate it.

Any other ideas? Also pharmacist recommended not using vicks, even the baby balsam on bubs skin........ anyone else been told this?

Ang-I use eukybear/or baby balsalm on her clothes....or her wrap. I never put it on her skin...put some vicks on yours! I did it last nigh.....holy *****! feltlike it was burning.
Because C is wrapped up and cant move her arms she doesnt rub it onher hands or anything during the night. So I spread a little on top of the wrap or on her shirt, then wrap her so at least her body heat helps the vapours be released. I also have a wedge shaped cushion under the head of her cot mattress which helps her a lot.
I also tried the old wives tale of vicks on her feet (but i used eukybear and used 2 pairs of socks instead of onto her feet) and that seemed to work alright).
As for trying for number 2 - not on your bloody life just yet - end of next year maybe! Viv I'm with you - still trying to work out how this one works!!
Saffi & Mo C loves that porridge too! Loves it when I mix it with some apple too. They have these little take along packs of made up pear and apple and other things too that you can take when you travel. Soft squishy packs for the nappy bag. Good for us when we travel to Mt Isa to give her some solids.
Poos- C can have upo to 5 a day when she is eating my cooking.....give her some jar/tin food - back down to 1 or 2 and its SOLID. Not ouch solid though. So we try to limit the amount of tinned food she gets. Strange though! And again depending on what she is eating depends on the colour.....and smell. We tried her on this jar of pasta bolognaise (?sp) and god helpme if her poo didnt smell like that this morning!! Was really surprising.
Food-Those still giving bubs jars/tins of food....did you move up to the next stage of stuff?? She is getting chunkier foods now....mashes more than purees. Makes a huge difference.
Anyway - i have rattled on enough for one day - enjoy all and have a GREAT weekend.

    Ange - snip from babyworld

A persistent, dry, non-productive cough at night, or triggered by exercise or cold air, may suggest asthma, especially if there is a family history of asthma, eczema or hayfever (these are related conditions). In this situation, seek medical advice.

    What to do
The best management of a simple cough is:

Regular steam inhalations. These soothe the airway, and encourage phlegm to be brought up. In very small children, sit with a favourite story-book and cuddly toy in a steam-filled bathroom
Or humidify your child’s bedroom with a wet towel on the radiator. If this is not possible, run a kettle in the bedroom for a few minutes with the lid off. Don't allow your child too close to it (steam burns); don't leave it unattended or allow it to boil dry
Raise the head of the bed or cot on books or bricks, and give an extra pillow or two if your child is over one year. Do not use a pillow for babies under one year
Sprinkle the pillow or cot bumper with aromatic oils to help clear the airways. Or place the oils on a hanky and slide it under the cot sheet
A spoonful of honey is usually just as effective as an over-the-counter cough mixture.
Honey should not be given to children under the age of 12 months.
Avoid air temperature changes and physical exertion as far as possible. These will only trigger coughing and compound the problem.

Hey all, I'm marginally better today. Fever is gone, but I've got a splitting headache and really bad heartburn because of an empty stomach. I'm sure by tomorrow I'll be feeling heaps better.

K really is a new baby now he is trying to move! He plays happily for much longer.

Re: another bub - we keep changing our mind every day! First we thought "no way" after all we have been through with K. Then we thought, "why not?" (just not yet ). Now we are in two minds. DH was the one keen for #3, but now he isn't sure he wants me to go through all of that again! I told him there are no guarantees we will get an easy baby next time, so we have to factor that in to the decision making. Now we are just going to see how things go over the next few months and make a decision by the time K turns one. I don't want another big age gap if we have another bub for practical reasons, so if we don't want another when K is one then we won't have one at all.

Also, feeling sick the last couple of days has made me realise how horrible it would be to have m/s and have to look after two children...

Trish - glad you're feeling a bit better. You've had a bit of a rough time lately
Rebecca - love the photo of Caitlin. Bought some of that Rafferty's soft pack stuff today. Will see how we go.

L's only been at daycare a week (only 2 days!) and he's already come down with a cold. He isn't sleeping well but feeding okay and doesn't have a temp so I guess its just a case of sticking it out.

Baby #2. Have to admit I've been thinking about it and looking longingly at babies remembering how small L used to be. Until AF decides she 's going to return we're in a bit of a holding pattern. If we do decide to go again, it will need to be soon as the old biological clock is set on alarm status.

Trish - we have very similar thoughts re another bub. One day I do, the next I don't! You know how MENTAL the newborn sleep thing sent me! But now things are so much easier I can see myself doing it again and would hope by round 3, I could just convince myself that no matter how hard the newborn thing is, it DOES get better.

Our problem is we can't conceive naturally anymore so we have to factor in another ride on the IVF rollercoaster which is NOT fun. This is what's turning DH off the most. It wouldn't be as traumatic next time though because we have TEN (eeep!) frozen embryos waiting for us, so we wouldn't have to do a full stim cycle (let me know if I'm losing you here, happy to explain/get into the nitty gritty of IVF for anyone who's interested or doesn't get how it works)

And our history with losing bub #2 made for a pretty freaked out and anxious prg with L, so he's in no hurry to repeat that side of it either.

In the last few weeks I've become a bit concerned about it, because I'd say I'm about 70/30 wanting to have another, but he's adamant he doesn't want to. I don't want it to cause issues between us, but it is a pretty big deal. I don't want them too far apart though if I can convince DH to go again, so we'll also need to make a final decision by the time L is 18 months, max.

Anyhoo, enough of Days of Willow's Life!

Julia - WOOT - Go Maxy!!

Ange - We use Eucy Bearub on L too and I do put it directly on his skin. Never had an issue with it and it really helps at night.

Happy 7 Months Kieren, Tahlia & Lachlan.

Whoops - forgot to say: CONGRATULATIONS MO!!

    Evening all,

E is fast asleep and I am exhausted too so I will be heading to bed soon. I'm staying up cooking a meal for my friend who just had a buby. This is her third and this time she managed to keep it inside until 35 weeks (which is longer than her other 2). I think all is well though. Hopefully I will see them soon.

Re- bub #2. I really want to have one but not just yet. We said that we will start trying when Ethan turns 1. We still want a big family even though E is very challenging. I am a bit nervous about it though. It was hard enough to cope with a newborn with only us to worry about. Next time I'm sure it wont be so easy. And to have another bub in this tiny house is a thought that completely freaks me out. Can't afford to move just yet so will have to tuff it out for a while.

Exciting news - Ethan is now pulling himself up into a kneeling position to play. He's been doing it for about a week. He is growing too fast. He has entered the separation anxiety phase and stresses every time I leave the room (even if dh) is there. He follows me around the house now too as well as says "mum" and reaches out for me. Oh it is nice to be loved!!!

    Night All

Thanks for info Viv- i had mild asthma as a child so i wouldn't be surprised..... might elevate the bed tonight.

I got a v cool wooden trolley from an old man at a market today. He made one for his kids and now his grandkids use it! So i thought 2 generations was a good investment.I have tightened the wheels so when she holds on to it it doesn't run off, as she gets more steady you just loosen the wheels off again. although she seems to prefer riding in it with me pushing......

Happy 7 months Logan!!! Happy 8 months Myles!!!

Wow these babies are growing up!

I'm feeling heaps better today. I woke up feeling really nauseous and I fell over after having a shower and blow drying my hair ! But we got out of the house and I started feeling heaps better. We ended up going to the Queen Vic market and bought Joel & I some good 'ol moccies (we are such bogans) and we got Kieran the CUTEST pair of Uggs. His feet & ankles seem a bit cold when he's in the Ergo so they are perfect. We then went to the Fitzroy Gardens for a walk and play, it turned out to be a lovely day!

Amber - Sorry you didn't get to have your b'day at the park, but YAY for going to Sydney! I hope you have fun

Ange - You find the coolest stuff at markets don't you? I'm a bit of a closet addict

Mo - How are you feeling preggie lady?

Willow - Sounds like you and your DH are at a tricky place atm regarding #3. Maybe just give it a little more time? Hopefully your DH comes around. I think men really get traumatised watching what we have to go through and you certainly had a rough time. I've learned a little about IVF from BB, but I'd love to learn more if you want to share. I'd love to hear how L was miraculously created!

Julia - HOORAY MAX!!! WTG on rolling! He'll be on the move before you know it

Saffi - I hope L's cold clears up soon. Unfortunately that is a down side of CC, but at least he will have an immune system of steel by the time he starts school!

Have a great night everyone, I need to sleep now!!
