    Well hello strangers!

Its been a good two and a bit days since I was on LOL. We've had a heap on over the weekend so I wasn't able to get on.

So I'll start backwards from yesterday. Last night we went out for dinner. DH's work gave them all $100 restaurant vouchers as a reward for keeping the site incident free for a few months so we used that up. Excellent meal too it was, will definately go back there on our own one night. During the day we went to visit friends of ours in hospital to see their new baby girl, she was born on Friday and was a lovely little 8lb4. So that took up the whole day because we had to travel just over 1hr to see them. Paige had a lovely cuddle and boy did it bring back memories LOL.

Sunday we went water skiing which again was a full day out because the nearest lake to us is 1.5hrs away. The kids had a ball and swam nearly all day. The weather was a lot cooler than it had been too. The water was fantastic, but I tell you what, this old body of mine is not cut out for this skiing caper anymore - my arms are still sore.

On Saturday we had a BBQ to go to and then we had to see BIL&SIL for nephews birthday and give him his present.

So that's my wrap of the last few days LOL. The kids are exhausted and I'm so glad that this week is only 4days.

Noni, the 'adult' yoghurt is better for them than the ones specifically marketed at babies 1 because often the baby/kids yoghurts are full of sugar and flavouring and 2 they are always dearer than opposed to just buying a 6pk of yoplait etc. Steer clear of the lite/no fat ones though as they aren't suitable for kids really.

    Hi Girls,

I'm Back. Well I got back yesterday. Wow What a trip. I have walked that much my legs are aching. Grand Prix was great apart from the heat (nearly died)and the Kiss concert was fantastic I really enjoyed Melbourne too. Love the casino. Now just cannot wait till thursday. I hope the weather is fine. Olivia and the Boys had a great time too. I think mum enjoyed the one on one time with Olivia.
Sherie- Glad you had a wonderful weekend.
Noni- I give Olivia the yoplait baby yogurt and she loves it . I gave it too the boys too when they were babies. Now the boys love the goguts in the sticks.
MD- Congrats on your decision to defer.

Hello to everyone and have a great week. Oh and Happy Easter too all if I dont get back on. Love you all and have a safe Easter Break.

    hi all
quick post from me - hope you are all well.
i am ok, but poor Noah has a cold and it seems to be getting worse - he is coughing a lot tonight so i wonder how much sleep i will get!
i seem to be doing better getting him to have day sleeps - i hope that isnt just bc he is unwell. time will tell i guess. we are off to noosa this weekend for 5 days so i hope he is ok to fly on friday. i guess if he is looking unwell still tomorrow i will book to take him to the dr on thu to check. hayley how is maddie's cough? did you need to do anything for her (i have a humidifier in his room already)
Noni - I have just bought a tub of jalna as well for Noah to try - it is quite sour plain so I will add some pureed fruit to it when i give it to him. i imagine the baby ones would be good if you need to take one out with you. i boight some baby custard too - a treat already at 6 months old.
md - congrats on making the decision to defer - the right choice for you it sounds.
renee - thinkingabout no 2 too, but not for a while!!!
ok better go - hi to everyone else.

    hello everyone

Well that's 2 days at work down, one to go!
RENEENAY, yes i don't know what I'd do without my mum. I just couldn't bear the thought of sending Charli to a daycare centre just yet. I've been back at work 3 days a week since the beginning of January . DH took a new position at his work which he loves but unfortunately it means he doesn't get overtime anymore so I had to return to work earlier than I wanted to.

OZSTAR, we're going to start trying for #2 when Charli is 10-12 months old. I want my bubba's to be close together. When do you think you will start TTC #2?

HAYLEY, I'm really glad little maddie is getting better I'm like you when it comes to all creatures great and small. I would have ran out there to save the baby mouse also.

MARYDEAN, what Uni course did you defer? I got into bachelor of Midwifery at ACU in Brisbane this year but I had to turn it down as they wouldn't allow me to enrol part-time and their full-time study load required me to go to the uni 5 days a week which is impossible with a bub and working part-time and with uni being 1.5 hours away from where I live It's my dream to be a midwife so I'm determined to get there eventually. I think I'll start off doing the bachelor of Nursing externally and just do a couple of subjects a semester while I've got little bubbies about.
So DH is getting the snip hey! Yes, make sure you enjoy that beautiful bubby girl of yours!

NONI, I just realised that Asha shares a birthday with Charli. Charli is 16 minutes older!

Hope everyone has had a great day.

    hello lovely ladies

noni- i might have to try some of that jalna stuff. thanks for the hot tip. lewis just isn't really into any food yet.

charli's mumma- sounds like you've got a lot on your plate. i love the name charli btw, were you going to call bubs charlie is she was a boy too or did you have a different name? we've been talking about ttc again soonish. dp wants to start now but i want to wait till lewis is 1.

leanne- glad you had a good time in melbourne- it's stinking hot down here atm. i hate the heat- looking forward to winter.

pregpan- poor little noah. have fun in noosa!

sherie- your weekend sounds unreal! you're such a champion to be able to waterski. i can't do it at all- way too unco
i usually just sit in the boat sipping cold beers and enjoying the scenery while everyone else does the skiing
    what's your friend's baby girl's name?

Gracie, I am not the prettiest skiier you've ever seen LOL, so far from a champion Our friends called their baby Caitlyn.

Noni, it is terrible stuff that WW yoghurt. I prefer to buy just a low fat yoplait one.

Tamara, I hope you get to do your midwifery degree.

Leanne, glad you had a great weekend. It was a scorcher down there alright.

Same old same old here today. I do have to make an easter bonnet for Paige for tomorrow - the kids school is having an easter hat parade and Paige wants a bonnet too. Will certainly be interesting LOL.

Awwww poor me! *sniff sniff*, so sick! Rory flipped out at 10:00pm last night, an hour or so after I put him down (we went to my mum & dads for dinner). I cuddled him, read him a story, left his night light on, had his mobile on, stroked his head and NOTHING..he was still screaming. An hour later he just crashed because he was so tired. I dont know what to put it down to. He didnt get upset when he two bottom teeth came through so I doubt its teething. Maybe he ws over tired?? Its only happened a few times but it scares me. Its awful to hear him cry when he never cries because I know it must be bad.

    Sorry for the selfish post.

morning all hope you are all planning a fun day. I am meeting my mums group for coffee and then think i may take Noah and I out for lunch at my fave cafe... if we are both up to it. Poor me, i am feeling sorry for myself - i hace caught the dreaded cold that is going around me house... oh well i guess it was bound to happen. at least DH is feeling a lot better so we can tag team a bit. Poor Noah also seems a bit better today though he was coughing awfully last night and was up every 2 hrs. i am hoping he is over the worst of it now.
I have been trying really hard to get hm to have at least 2 day sleeps the last few days and it seems to be working! i am so happy! he is asleep now in fact. the sleeps last about 45 mins only but most things i have ead say that they will begin to stretch them out so i am hoping that happens. yest afternoon he did an hour which is prob a record for him LOL! So lets hope this works. At the moment I still need to rock him or feed him to sleep but i guess get him into a pattern and then see how i can chg?? i dont know i am just glad he is startingt o sleep in the day more (means i stay at home more but it is good for him so i am ok with that). Pinky McKay is actually talking here in canberra next week so i think iw ill go to that and see if i get some ideas. anyway it feels like a win to me at the moment (i hope he isnt just sleeping bc he is unwell).
solids still going well - 2 meals a day (but each about 8 teaspoons max). i am in no rush to get him to have more, but he does wolf it down so i may intro meal 3 soon and then slowly increase the amounts as he can take them? i am not so scientific a bout it all, i figure he kinda shows me what he wants. am stillmaking my own food (i LOVE making it for him) but i think i may have to buy a few jars in noosa this weekend so any recommendations??? I will take up enough for afew days but will need some backup I guess. he is still only having vegies and fruit and the odd bit of yoghurt or custard thrown in but i think soon i can intro a few other things???? i am starting to make the puree a tiny bit more lumpy too and he has taken well to that. i wonder when to intro finger foods? i guess in about a month? advice/opinions as always welcome!
wrt ttc number 2, we have said we will start with N is 12 months. gosh that is coming around soon!!! exciting exciting!!! i already have names picked out if a girl LOL!!! i really dont care either way boy or girl but i guess i used my fave boy name this time and i cant imagine another one!!! it took us a yr to conceive this time so i wonder how long it will take this time?? i am starting at the time it would be great if it happened but still early for us and that way there isnt pressure time wise.
i cant remember who was asking me about care options we chose??? i am still udnecided. we have 2 days at creche if we want and it is gettinga lot better and also we have been offered a couple of days at FDC. so a lot depends what jobi take, which will happen this week. i am waiting to hear if i got the job i really want. i have one in melb but it is less exciting to me than the other option. i found out they called my referees (it is all internal in my company) so hopefulyl iw ill hear soon, i wonder if they have called alot of people's refs or just mine??? exciting times ahead. i will start work 1 april if i take the oz based job and soon after that if i get the other one. the great thing with the gloal one is that my hrs can be v flex asmy team based all over world so i will start at 11 or 12 and still have mornings with noah!
it hink there was talk a few days ago about crawling, sitting, rolling etc. Noah is rolling but only back to front, getting closer to sitting i think but no sign of crawling... app i was v slow to crawl so i guess he is following me!!! he is a great talker though and loves his food so i guess he is like his mum and will sit on his butt eating and gossiping!!!!
cally and MD i never heard the DFO or Ikea rumour - that'd be FAB! timeline??????

ETA - i hear you Renee I am sniffing too!!!! Hmm maybe rory was overtired? or has he got a cold too? the 1st time Noah got a cold he woke suddenly one night screaming - it all came on v suddenly? hope you all feel better soon hon

Pregpan, your job options sound really exciting, esp the global one! For my project recently I was working with ppl in Singapore and India...makes you realise how much the world has shrunk since the internet! That was me who asked about your care, glad you've got a few options. Hehehe I'm tempted to nick down to Pizzazz in case that's where you're having lunch today?! LOL Hoping to take a friend there for breaky this week. Sorry no idea about the shop timeline, I'm well out of the loop when it comes to local info.

Re the cans, look for things that you already include in his diet, Heinz does an oatmeal and apple one that's apparently ok, and I think Sherie said she uses the Rafferty's ones. Re the finger foods, you could always give him a finger of something to gum (softish pear's a good one) or even just a rusk to wave around, doesn't matter if they don't really eat it. Just make sure he's completely upright and watch him the entire time.

Renee, sorry to hear you're both having a rotten time. I'm taking E to the drs because the screaming whingeing crying is so uncharacteristic...hard to get her still long enough to take her temp too.

Sherie - the easter bonnets sound like fun! When I worked at the call centre, the child care centre would have a bonnet parade through there on Easter week - aaaaawww so cute!!! We probably won't do any easter craft this year, on account of getting ready to fly out. There's usually egg dying or biscuitmaking at my house! DD1 will be doing egg deccies at Guides tonight. Reminds me I need to get some bunny ears for a photie with E.

Ok, better get "cracking" (cracking eggs, get it ?), still got jobs to do while E is asleep!

I am sick too! I think my father brought it over from Australia with him. He shouldn't have bothered coming if he was sick, not only did I have to spend a painful evening listening to him talk about cr@p, but he made Will and now me and DH sick too. Sorry for the rant.

Renee and MD, hope you can find the causes of the night time screams. Could it be anything to do with the six month growth spurt? Maybe there is some joint ache/growing pains? I hope that it resolves quickly for you both.

Pregpan, your new job(s) sound cool. I would love to be important at work, but didn't pick a very exciting career. For day sleeps I still have to feed him to sleep and he often wakes after one or two sleep cycles. I have him on the big bed so I can go in when he is just waking up and feed him back to sleep again without moving him, then he will usually sleep for another sleep cycle. Did you get N to take the bottle?

I have been wondering if babies develop in a similar way to their parents? I skipped crawling but was walking at 8.5 months and it seems that Will is following the same pattern. He is very good at walking with me holding his hands - sometimes he even lets one hand go now - but still only lasts a couple of minutes on his tummy.

arte - ohh sorry to hear your all sick over there!! its awful when someone brings there cold with them and passes it on to everyone!! sounds like W is very advanced!! geez asha loves standing and is strong enough to stand holding on to something by herself but she dosnt really have the idea of stepping yet..
pregpan - no2 lol? so not ready to even think about that!! re the cans the raffertys ones look nice but i havnt actually tried any..
renee - hope rory is feeling better

    hello hello!

Easter parade was good, but I had a thumping headache so didn't stay for long once they'd done it. I will take a pic later and post it for you all.

Noni, I saw your pic of the easter kebabs, they look really effective don't they? clever girl you are.

Renee, I hope you are both feeling better soon. I know how bad I felt the other week and I wouldn't wish that on anyone let alone a baby, poor little mite. Can you raise his bed up so he isn't laying flat on his back? It might help him breathe a little better.

Gracie, ouch at the nipple biting! There's an article on the main site about booby biters but I can't remember what it said now.

Arte, I would have been ropable with your Dad if I were you. And I kwym about rabbiting on with crap, my dads the same

Pregpan, I am living my life vicariously through you ATM LOL, your life is way more exciting than mine.

Cally, congrats on becoming an aunty! K sounds like she is doing really well

    Tamara, how was playgroup today?

Hayley, well done on your victory in getting the pram parking. Designed by a male I bet

Marydean, Miss E certainly is a clever little chicken isn't she? I think that the 26wk wonder week should be renamed the 'anywhere from 20 to 27wks' wonder week LOL. I hope this stage passes soon.

Big news here too - ALISTER IS CRAWLING!!!!!! he'd been getting up on his hands and knees for about a week and rocking and we thought he'd be a while off yet but on Tuesday night he actually worked out he could move forward when he moved his arms and legs. He didn't get far and still much prefers comando crawling still, but I managed to get a picture of him doing it and put it in my ticker.

With the solids, we haven't started still. He was 6mths on Tuesday but I'm like 'meh, can't be bothered yet' LOL. I will start sometime over the weekend as we have a pretty easy weekend lined up as DH is working. I am pretty pleased that I made it to 6mths though, it was just a goal I had this time round. Not sure how he will go with it all though.

Sherie, Well Done Alister! Does it ever slow down or will I spend the rest of my life wondering how time can go so quickly?

I was pi$$ed at my father. I only met him a few years ago and it isn't that I don't like him - he just isn't my cup of tea. We don't actually have any thing in common and it is hard to make conversation with a middle aged guy with no shared interests (although he does have verbal diarrhea). My mum and him broke up when I was a baby, he moved back to Australia and didn't have any contact with us. I looked him up when I moved to Australia, just out of curiosity and to find out medical history. I wasn't looking for a big Oprah moment, wasn't even going to keep in contact but DH guilted me that it was only a couple of dinners a year to make someone really happy (he feels bad that he missed my childhood and thinks that we could have a great father-daughter relationship). He always finds a way to get DH alone and talks about me ie how I feel about him etc. I find that really irritating. And he told DH that he didn't feel so bad that we weren't close because I am not close to my mum either (I am)! Anyhow, sorry to rant about that but he dropped in on the way back down the island today and didn't even apologise when I said that Will had caught his cold, just made another lame joke.

Solids are going o.k, I gave him some potato/kumera tonight and he mushed it and ate a bit. He must have liked it because he squealed and grabbed when I offered him more. Most of it ended up on the floor (the dog just started to like him a lot more). The infant led weaning thing is quite interesting, if he has put too much in his mouth he will just gag a bit, bring it up and start again with another piece. I am worried about choking but he does seem to know what he is doing. It is going a lot better than spoon feeding for us.

Art - Cant pick your family can you Poor Will, I hope he doesnt suffer too much with his cold. Its very stressful looking after a sick bub. Ive been wishing all day that Rory would get better. I cant stand seeing him like this. Fingers cross they both get over it quick smart. Im glad the infant led weaning is going good for you guys. xox

Sherie - Awwww little Alister is crawling already!!!! What a clever little man Give him a cuddle from all of us.

Noni - Glad you had a nice arvo with your DP's mum.

Cally - Aw im sorry I missed your post CONGRATULATIONS on being an Aunt You sound so proud. Katie is going to have a cousin to play with, she is so lucky! Congrats again

Well to top off my horror week AF has just arrived and im on the PILL! How is that possible??? Now im going to look bloated for my BIL birthday. Ahhhh

I called my mum this morning to ask if she knew anyone with a vapouriser I could borrow. Turns out she has one YAY (from the 1980s but heh it still works). Im going to put it on for him when he wakes from this massive nap. Im glad he is getting some rest.

I know it's scary isn't it! I don't think he'll be crawling everywhere for a while yet, he's happy doing what he's doing and I'm certainly in no rush to help him progress faster LOL.

Uuuggghhh Arte! what an awkward relationship to have with him. Why would he think that you didn't have a good relationship with your mum? I'm following what you're doing with Will's solids with interest - the girls both preferred to self feed and Alister is really into the whole thing of putting everything in his mouth, so he might be that way inclined too. LOL at the dog liking him more - they will be great pals

Gracie, how high is your deck? we have a verandah along the length of the easter and southern sides of the house and when we first brought the place I had visions of kids falling off and trips to the ED so I had FIL put railings all around it.
