cally- my dp refuses to pay people to do things you can do yourself either.he won't even let me get my car serviced. he has to do it.

Hello to Cindy!!! Great to see you pop back in hun.

    Sooo many posts again!

Noni, you might know them as ****tail frankfurts. We just call them little hotdogs here. I always wondered about the 'little boys' name because it's not like we call frankfurts 'big boys' LMAO!

I'm not meant to be here at home today - Paige's preschool day so I was going to be out shopping etc after I dropped her off, but just before we walked out the door to leave this morning the School phoned to let me know that Lindsay had thrown up and was in sick bay. So I had to drop Paige off, do a few quick jobs that had to be done and went and picked him up. he seems to be fine though touch wood. he wont miss much at school anyway - last day of term so they were only cleaning out their desks etc. I made him come to the supermarket with me though LOL - he seemed pretty OK to me by then and I really didn't want to have to do it in the Friday afternoon rush.

I think we might have another word here too - whenever Alister claps his hands, he has started saying 'bap bap' so I'm thinking he's trying to say 'clap-clap' because when he does something clever, I clap hands and say 'yay, clap clap' and he claps his hands LOL.

Well the Italian blood is showing in miss Madeline, the canneloni went down really well last night, she loved it! DP wasnt there to witness it but when I told him he couldnt wipe the smug smile off his face.

I took her to the doc this morning, just as well, as she had a bit of an ear infection starting, so we've got antibiotics so hopefully we can knock it off quickly now that we've caught it early on. Also her conjunctivitis has flared up again. I thought I'd got rid of it, I was getting sick of washing linen & toys & basically everything she's touched every day lol. AND her cough, well we just have to wait it out but the doc seems to think the antibiotics may help it a bit. Poor Maddie she is in the wars!

What can I give her to counter act the antibiotics iykwim? I know myself they kill off your good germ fighter thingys and can lead to other nasties. Pregpan what did you do, Noah was on antibiotics wasnt he?

Little boys doodles LOL well cant say I call them that myself. LMAO at big boys Sherie.

Trillian - Thats so cute that Alister says bap bap, what a clever cookie. Poor Lindsay he was sick not long ago!

Rainforest - Everyday when I jump on I search the posts looking for your announcement! Is it a baby!???? Please tell!!!

Jazmum - Yay good to hear he is healthy & developing well. Is this her first child? A boy will be nice after your 3 girls hehe. I will always remember the look on my dad's face when I told him I was having a girl & remember him saying not another girl lol. Of course he loves her to bits though but he has always hoped for a boy to take surfing!

Cally - My DP is the same & he gets it from his father, they hate paying for anything.

Noni - Wow Asha does eat so well thats great, at least she isnt fussy. How are you liking having your own place?

Arte - Aww can imagine Will splashing in the dogs water, little cutie! I cant stand to see people stuffing junk down their kids throats and at 10 months old thats terrible! My MIL is constantly trying to shove junk down Maddie's throat, hot chips, sugar...it goes on & on. Its ridiculous and this is why I dont like leaving Maddie with her. Maybe I am being paranoid but she doesnt need that kind of food. So many times I have asked her not to do it but she said to me once to 'get over it' and since then I've been too shocked to tell her again. Anyway so far I've managed to keep MIL and her unhealthy eating habits away but still...I'd like to be able to trust her & not have to constantly tell her no. Ahhh I could go on all day about this LOL.

    Joels girl - Hi!

Anyway I must keep it short, we are going out tonight for tea (hopefully Maddie will have a decent arvo sleep) and I still have to clean the house. Hello to everyone else!

MM - why do grandparents insist on feeding bubs yucky food - they don't know what they're missing!! MIL has asked a few times if K has had ice cream yet. Last time I flat out said 'she won't be having anything unhealthy for a while because I don't want her to develop her fathers bad eating habits'. (He can eat a family size block of chocolate between the supermarket and home). Must admit that I haven't wanted to leave K with MIL by herself now she is on solids as I'm not 100% sure she won't slip something extra in her lunch. Although she knows that DH would have a go at here if we found out.

Maybe we call the ****tail frankfurts 'little boys' because we had all girls in our family. That was just what mum called them (she was from SA, need MD to come back and tell us if that is what they are over there).

Think I have a coldsore. Not impressed. Will be very hard to keep it away from K if I haven't already given it to her.

Jaz - yay, a nephew! Now you have a reason for buying all the gorgeous boys outfits you see.

Trillian - poor little Lindsay. At least he was well enough to do the grocery shopping so you got that out of the way. wow at A's 'bap bap'

Just a quick hello from me. Thought I might have time to actually sit down and catch up but Logan woke up and is pulling all the cords under my computer desk.

So a big hello from me and I will try and get back on later.

arte - yes she had a miscarriage last November. Her fiance has a 5 year old boy that lives with them, but this will be her first.
Cally - my dh is total opposite - he will happily pay for someone else to do something if it means he can relax lol.
mm - i give Hannah Children's Inner health. Just a smidgen of powder on the edge of a spoon. You just buy it from the chemist. Does Maddie eat yoghurt? that can help as well. Poor little thing, she's not having a good run of late is she.

re the mother-in-laws - this is the time when you get dh to tell her that if she doesn't listen to you and follow your rules, you won't leave bubs with her.
a friend of mine was having issues with her MIL sticking her nose in - one day she'd had enough and told her to leave the house. MIL has respected her wishes ever since!

    Hi Girls!

Hello Joel's Girl! great to see you back in here! ha ha i was wondering what the blog thingo is just the other day...might have to check it out...

JaZMum: ohhh congrats to your sis! how exciting! i LOVE it when i find out people are having bubs! it's such a fantastic time. it's times like this that i wish i wasnt an only child as then i could also maybe of been an aunty one day.

I guess when talking about the joys of the 'outlaws' we are pretty lucky as all our family is really far away. this has benefits, but can also be a bit lonely. i remember when Leila was born all i wanted was my mum around the corner to go and visit.

Ozstar: dont you just love the way the kids know when we are about to do something for ourselves...leila is especially adept at waking up just when the food/coffee arrives!

MM: yeah that's a great question about the antibiotics. us adults have probiotics to take...i guess as JaZmum said, yoghurt might help...

Arte: LOL at Wil playing the water! Leila is always making a bee line for Stella's bowls...she also loves chewing on her gross toys...eewwwww.

Sherie: i hope that L gets better soon. especially with hols coming! do you guys have any plans for the break?

Cally: i am impressed that your DH can fix cars!! my DH is flat out knowing how to turn on the TV! we spend a fortune in maintenance and middlemen!

Have to put it out there that yes, in QLD we call 'em cheerios. when i saw the ads for the cereal i was like WT??? as young kids we used to be given them for free by the butcher when mum bought the weeks meat. BIG treat! we used to eat them then and there, but a few years ago the health dept told business that they couldnt do it anymore as it was considered 'raw' meat.

Clare - the other day when i was at Woolies, the lady in the deli offered me a cheerio to give to Hannah. I didn't take it though. She really enjoyed eating the cooked one she had the other day though. I don't know what's in them, and not sure i want to know either lol.

    Lol Noni!!!

Cally - See you are lucky that your DH will say something to his mum. My DP wont say anything to his mum & it is left up to me. Then I look like an ungrateful meanie. Sometimes I wonder if my MIL buys so much for Maddie so that I cant ever say anything without feeling guilty....lol now I'm just being paranoid right?! I've also had the icecream question from my MIL, I dont get it. My DP has bad eating habits too, he is so fussy and wont touch fruit. MIL has admitted that she didnt try him on many things when he was young. Luckily he is naturally slim but my MIL....lets just say I dont want Maddie to pick up her habits and end up her size! Luckily my own mum is the total opposite, she loves spending time with Maddie but she always asks me first and doesnt pretend like she knows Maddie better than I do because she's had babies, I'm sure you've experienced that one before lol.

Katie - Hello, Logan sounds like he is getting very active these days!

Jazmum - Yep she loves yoghurt so I'll keep topping her up on it. Thanks for the advice re the MIL! Sorry to hear about your sisters mc last year, I cant imagine ever going through that. So glad its all working out for her now. Also re the inner health, is that ok to give them, isnt it for ages 2+? I dont know I'm sure you know more about it than me being a mum of 3!

Clare - Where are your parents, are they in the same state?

I've got Maddie tucked up in bed again in the hope that she will have a little nap before we go out tonight...so far she's talking to herself & it doesnt sound like she's gonna sleep!

Hayley, if you want to boost her gut flora via yoghurt, it has to be one that contains live cultures in it - like Vaalia or yakult. Any other yoghurt isn't worth a squirt for something like that - still good for you but they don't have live culture. I brought for Alister today some Brauer's Recovery tonic which should work the same as a probiotic. I also brought some probiotics for the older kids and a big tub of vaalia yoghurt LOL - I am so over all the lurgies in this house.

With MIL's I struck gold with mine - it's my own mum that I don't trust. She is an insulin dependent diabetic and can't even look after her own dietary needs properly let alone the kids. Although she has tried to give Alister stuff like chocolate earlier in the piece, I have told her she can't because of his eczema and she doesn't do it now - bit of a porkie but it worked LOL.

Clare, we aren't doing anything over the holidays - am looking forward to be blissfully casual for two weeks LOL. The only thing we have 'booked in' is on the last friday of the holidays, the older two are going to a craft thing at the Library doing decoupage.

I forgot to say earlier too, our library is starting a program called Baby Bounce - like a story time session for babies 12mths and under where you sing rhymes and read stories to them etc. You get a board book for them too and the Librarian said she is going to make up a folder with all the things we do at the sessions in it and you get a new one to add to it each week - sounds really good and it will fit in perfectly with Paige being at preschool on that day.

Rainy, I'm baaaa-ck! Haven't read all the way through the posts so i'm just dying to know what your news is...think i might have guessed ! OMG I'm soooo excited.

Noni, I just wanted to say, I know what that squalor smell is, i've smelt it before and it sticks to everything! It's the smell of really dank dirty energy. Anything you do that brings light and living energy into the house will help, also keep cleaning, open the windows for fresh air as much as you can. If you read up on "space clearing" that will give you some ideas on how to freshen it all up.

Ummm, can't remember anything else just yet, had a pretty good little mental holiday this week. Decided not to go with a baptism frock, bought a cotton bonnet (cute) and we'll also have a little satin stole as that is a catholic thing she can hand along. It's on Sunday, we're going to the snow tomorrow so it will be a big weekend for everyone.

OK - QE2 - amazing experience. Not sure if we've got the sleep thing sorted out but it turns out she had started to loose weight so was probably waking up hungry these last few weeks. I think I've been limiting feeds because of my nipple pain...so feeding more (when the boobies can handle it). Also got some good mental health strategies in place, starting with some regular counselling. I've realised I've got so much pain in my body (left over from the pregnancy) which needs to be processed and let go. Going to see my GP for a referral first because there is now a number of sessions available with a medicare rebate. When I arrived at QE2 I was in a flat panic about DH going away and I feel so much more confident about it all now.

Anyway, will post more as I catch up with personals etc. xxx Missed you all!

MD - We missed you as well! I am so happy that you are feeling much more confident for when your DH goes away. The regular counselling is a very good idea and will keep you on track when you are having a bad day (lets hope you dont have a bad day to begin with but we all have them dont we). I'm glad you've determined a reason for her waking up, it makes it so much easier when you know what you need to do. Have fun at the snow I am so jealous!

Sherie - Thanks I will get some Vaalia tomorrow, she loves it but we have run out. The brauers sounds good too. I guess I am getting it for her gut but I know myself when I go on antibiotics nasties like thrush seem to appear and thats the last thing she needs atm. Wow baby bounce sounds excellent, Alister will love that. I love your little white lie about chocolate flaring up excema, but unfortunately my MIL is a trained nurse & therefore 'knows it all'.

PS They are called ****tail frankfurts and are miniature frankfurts - saveloys are shorter and fatter than frankfurts and usually a much deeper colour red, like 'battered savs' at the fish and chip shop. Apparently it's a British thing.

DH had me confused for about a year when I first met him cos he kept talking about Cheerios and as far as I knew that was an American breakfast cereal LOL. He's from QLD and they also call them little boys up there.

ETA - that's weird about handing them out at the butchers!! When we were kids the butcher always gave us a big chunk of fritz. Don't get me started about how fritz is NOT the same as Devon (blergh)!

Welcome back MD, glad that sleep school has helped.

In NZ we don't usually get frankfurters, mainly saveloys. If you were to get a battered sav at a fish and chip shop it would be a hot dog. I have had the same thing called a Pluto Pup in QLD
