jaz - how did you go??? we may well end up doing it here as well, N has been waking up every hour or so from 10ish for the last week - we are hoping this is some phase and that it will pass, he jut wants to sleep on one of us... no way we can keep it up with both of us working 4 days a week etc etc.
noni - poor you!!! i wonder what is making them all so wakeful at the moment. glad you are getting out and about with friends now, it makes a huge diff i think
N is prety much ONLY into finger foods at the moment - so i am having to be inventive. i roasted a whole bigtray of cubed veg last night, he is loving them!!! he is also v into papaya now.. yummo! going to do salmon patties later so will let you know how they go.. after the success of the chicken patties last week i think they will go down well!

    Good morning everyone
Well, i went to bed feeling sad last night. She got so upset, but at 9:30 she went to sleep. I was leaning into her cot with my face right next to hers (not so good for the old back lol) She woke up sad twice within the first hour - i just had to give her a couple of pats back to sleep. She woke once at about 2am, i left her in the cot and tickled her face, but she then thought it was a great time to play 'peek-a-boo' through the cot rails!!! I ended up getting into bed with her - and i love that cuddle soooo much

pregpan - how does N go to sleep - do you rock him?
noni - does A sleep soundly when she is in with you, or does she move all over the place?

Jordy still had a temp this morning but has easied now. Looks like I am going to have a great day....

MM- The boys and O had a sleep over at Granni's (my mum)
Jazmum- nope no sleep in I was up at 6 and could not get back to sleep. bummer.

Well I posted last night but the cybergoblins ate my post!

JaZaH you're a brave mummy for doing CC! I have found the very best tip for settling E in her own bed is to tap into some really calm energy myself before I go into her room - she settles much faster when I'm calm and serene. Tall order I know but it does help.
Pregpan we would rock to sleep if it worked, but we were soooooo far beyond anything working that more extreme measures were needed!

Noni LOL at fork and spoon action! E insists on having the spoon when I feed her and can steer it into her mouth when I've put the food on it but OMG I takes about three times as long for her to eat so we only do it when I have time LOL. Hope you can find the cord.

MM WTG Nanna - M will love the wheelie I'm sure...I can't wait for Christmas this year, E will be into everything having a fantastic time!

Arte - we missed you and I thought maybe you were holed up in the dark eating cold baked beans by the light of a candle. Pleased it was only telly internet and phone instead although you would've been going insane I'm sure.

Little People - we have a huge box of handmedowns from my sis - I've only got about a quarter out so far to wash them - there's a farm, a castle, a boat and a bus. E loves chewing on them!

Wow I really must say that our babies are the cutiest babies I have ever seen.
    I agree totally Leanne

Katie, are you going with a theme at all for L's birthday - that might help for an idea for a cake!

Trill, did you get the extra child back yet or are you still missing one LOL. It makes a difference when they're not there doesn't it!

Ok gotta go girls, time for getting the tax done. :blergh: At least we'll probably be getting a HUGE refund this year on account of our rental property disaster earlier this year. Does anyone remember how last year Queenie left her tax right until the last minute before she had bubba - we were all waiting to see if she'd get it done or not LOL - aaah I can't believe it's already a year since we were all huge in our 3rd trimesters! Far out time flies!

hi md - it's so hard to do and it breaks my heart, but i've just got to keep saying to myself that everything will be great after a couple of days

I wonder where Queenie is. I hope she's ok. We've lost a few of our buddies haven't we - supab, ella, mbear, my brain is mush so i'm having difficulty remembering our other buddies too? anyone?

Well all 3 are sleeping and I just cleaned up a bit.

Jazmum- What about Fianne and liddlepixie?

Re Tax- We are going on Wednesday morning... Also found out last week that now I have to pay full fees at daycare. Thank god we still get the 50% back every 3 months cause I will be using that money help pay for fees... I worked it out and if I sent the kids to Day Care for a week it will cost us $805.00 WTF... Who can afford to pay that certainly not me. Now for 2 days 3 kids it will cost me $328.00. Sorry for the rant.

Prepan- I use to rock the boys to sleep when they were babies too. But dont with Olivia

Arte- i only had one AF, and that was weeks ago. I am still BF'ing about 5 times in 24hrs. So you never know. Hope you join us soon.

Noni- 6.30 would be great, it's been 5.30 around here for a weeks or so!

JaZmum- i feel for ya. Lu used to be great overnight but these teeth are giving her hell. We've had some shocking nights, but things seems to improving again. At her worst, i was rocking her to sleep every sleep cycle, and sometimes feeding her to sleep, but when she was better she began to self settle again. I was worried i was creating a monster, but it seems somethimes she needs more cuddles than others. A bit like her mum!

MD- Great photo in Canberra. What a great looking lot of mum's and bubs. Who is who though?

We had a housefull of people visit for the weekend, i am exhausted cooking for 11 is hard work. I think Lu is too. She woke at 5.30 this morn and she has been awake for two hour stints up until now?! She has NEVER slept this much before. Maybe she's getting sick.... she had a little temp and was pulling at her ear this morn.
I found her with a piece of peanut in her mouth this morning too. I had a little freak out but she seems fine..... just keeping an eye on her.

here i am again!! i have to say sorry, i am finding it hard to really keep up with personals and i feel like i am missing important things like Arte TTC!! so if i miss something i am sorry.. it is hrd to keep up with everything with work etc etc etc...
i made jazmums chicken and potato balls - i have had a couple and they are yummo! N will be having them for dinner tonight and i know they wil go down well. think i made them too big, not really 'walnut' shaped... but thems the breaks and with an appetite like his it wont matter lol.
i am so busy with work and also trying to get everything sorted for dh while i am away... i know he can do it all really but the control freak in me has it all happening for him - labelled meals etc etc and clothes layed out jic. he wants it this way too for the 1st time i am away so dont worry i am not the nagging wife!!! i so know it will all go ok, but it is nerve wracking anyway - and i am sooo giong to miss my little man.
ange - hw scary re the peanut? are you worried about allergies? or just scared bc of the choking hazard with the piece??? btw when do you intro nuts (not whole but spreads?)
anyway hi to everyone else... back later i hope.

Ange, hope I get to join you soon. DH seems to be having second thoughts though so I might have to wait a bit longer.
The canberra meet up photo was MD and Elisabeth (back left), Cally and Katie (back right),
Clare with pram handles but no Leila and Pregpan with Noah (who is going to have his pick of all the girls lol)
Cooking for 11!! Crazy, that many people = takeaways in my books

Leanne, that is a crazy amount of childcare you have to pay! In NZ you get 20 hours free for 3 and 4 year olds per week. Not that that helps you any.

MD, I am so nostalgic thinking of this time last year. I was at work spending most of my day sitting by my (automated) analyser poking my belly to make W wriggle lol. Counting down days until maternity leave and trying to cope with the whole diabetes thing.

Got to go, William One-Sock is heading down the hallway shaking a bag of allen keys lol

Thanks Arte. You're in another counrty but you manage to work it out ok! i am hopeless! It is nice to have a face to type to. We had a big roast on Sat night and then i made Lasagne and a frittat for lunch on sunday. It wasn't too bad as i had loads of dishwashers.

Preg- I was worried about allergy mostly. I don't think nuts are advised until 12 moths or so. But i guess she's fine.... When do you go away? Sorry i am having trouble keeping up too.

I've been giving W peanut butter since about 7-8 months. From everything I have read (and the NZ recommendations) if you have no family history of allergies then there is no need to delay introduction of nuts. If you (or DH) suffer from allergies, hayfever, asthma or eczema then it is recommended that you don't introduce nuts until 3. Also, if she were to have a reaction it would normally happen on the second exposure (first time creates the antibodies)

Recommendations from the New Zealand Food and Nutrition Guidelines6

    * The UK Report?s recommendation about breastfeeding is in accord with the New Zealand Food and Nutrition Guidelines for Healthy Infants and Toddlers, which recommends solely breastfeeding children with a family history of allergy to at least six months of age. For infants, with a family history of food allergy, the introduction of solid foods should not include whole cows? milk, soy and eggs until the infant is at least one year old and peanut products until three years old (with whole peanut products being avoided until five years old).6 For mothers who are unable to breastfeed a dairy-based formula is the best choice. However, under the advice of a health professional, a soy-based or other infant formula may be used.7

    Advice to the general public

For the non-atopic families, avoidance of peanuts or peanut products is not considered necessary during pregnancy or breastfeeding. For infants, who are not in the above risk categories, it is acceptable for smooth peanut products, such as smooth peanut butter, to be used as a weaning food at about eight to nine months, as recommended in New Zealand Food and Nutrition Guidelines for Healthy Infants and Toddlers. As there is the possible risk of choking it is also advised that whole peanuts are not given to children until five years of age.6
Advice to those with peanut allergy
Pregpan, your food always sounds so good. LOL at your DH wanting everything laid out. My DH wouldn't be brave enough to look after W by himself for a whole night. The longest I have been away from his so far is 3 hours.

    HI Girls!!!!

Wowsers its as though i havent been on here for AGES!! and a new thread!!

i am currently sitting in DHs office which overlooks a lovely creek and an amazing escarpment, revelling in the warmth and sunshine of wollongong...ahhhh! (and leila is terrorising around the office...).

MD: Thanks for putting up the pick of all of us! Bummer about leila missing out though

JaZmum: big to you! its really tough (especially in that first week) of trying to get them to sleep on their own. I have to agree with MD and say to have an aura of calmness when you are putting her down. it's pretty hard, but these bubbas do pick it up pretty fast...

    Arte: WTG on TTC!!

Have to keep this short L is cracking it!

Ooh, I saw my name mentioned. I stopped posting because a family member read my posts and was offended by something I had written when I was pregnant and not quite in my right mind. I didn't mean to hurt her. Anyway it put me off posting.

I have logged in today for the first time in months.

JJ will be 10 months old tomorrow. He is a big boy. He is furniture coasting but is getting braver all the time.

I am going well. I have gone back to work, this is my second week. Hence the time to read forums. I am waiting to get set up on the computer systems here again.

My favourite JJ story at the moment is that yesterday DH taught him to clap. JJ was very impressed and clapped for everything. When it got to bed time, he was so tired that he was crying, he just kept on clapping. It was the funniest thing, the little chap clapping and crying at the same time.

It is good to see everyone doing so well.

JJ doesn't sleep either. I did CC with DD and regret it so I swore that I wouldn't with JJ. Unfortunately, it means that he doesn't sleep well. He wakes up a few times a night. I feed him and put him back. If he wakes too many times or after 5 then he comes into bed with us. I would love more sleep but I don't want to make him sad.
