Renee - The new bed spread is really nice, as is your actual bed. I love it! Flooring looks good too, thats something I want to do in our house eventually, we have carpet in the bed rooms and it is such a mission to keep clean.

Noni - Well I was worrying about nothing this morning, as she woke up around 12 and spent most of the arvo awake. So yep she was awake for Santa, looking at him thinking who is this big red man. Actually as I went to pick her up off him, my hand got tangled in his beard and for a min there I thought I was going to pull it off, we both had a laugh! I'd hate to be the one to show all the waiting kiddies that Santa's beard is fake!!

Whats a high temp for a baby??

LOL Hayley, you should see the state of the flooring after we spend a whole day putting the bed up! Very very scratched LOL. I really want to get the recycled solid timber flooring that looks really bashed up but if we keep going the way we are we wont need to!

Love the photo of maddie. Poor ol santa looks a bit awkward holding her though haha.

Oh I forgot to mention that I managed to book a villa at the Losari Retreat in Margaret River. Although it isnt new years we can just pretend

I know the Santa looks a bit dodgy doesnt he! My dad has a recycled solid timber business, gonna put some in one day, just finding the time is hard, and having to move all the furniture out...too hard. DP just said temp over 40 deg is dangerously high.

A temp of 38deg or higher for a baby should be checked out. There is some confusion over what constitutes a high temp in a baby lately, but if bubs is generally out of sorts and has a temp of 37deg for example, I would still get that checked out too kwim?

    Wow a new thread already
Well the loss of appetite still continuing, W even dropped off some of his daytime feeds yesterday. I think he went something like 6 hours before another feed and that was a short one as well At least now I know that it's because of the rotavirus vaccine (Thanks so much Sherie for the info, you're a wealth of knowledge. Dont know what we'll do without you!)
He still not himself though, not as talkative, sleepy ... I am not sure when do I need to start worrying. The needles was on Tuesday, so it's more than 3 days already

Sorry for lack of personals, havent had the chance to read through the posts. Hope everyone have a nice weekend!

Ok bit of a selfish post...

Poor Maddie is constipated. Her bowel movements this week have been not as frequent, hard and dont come away, iykwim! (sorry if tmi!) This morning I think it all become too much for her, she has been miserable, going red in the face and straining and pushing her legs out. I just checked her nappy because she had cheered up a bit, and sure enough she had managed to get it out but its still very hard. So am I jumping the gun by switching formula? I have been giving her between 20-40mls of water with each feed for the past few days hoping it would help and also because of the hot weather. What formula would I switch to - I was thinking the normal S26 or is it worth trying Karicare Gold? Do you have to use a gold formula? Does it upset them if you change formula? Sorry so many questions. Poor thing I dont like seeing her in pain!

Rory is on s26 too Hayley but It has crossed my mind to change to maybe karicare. I have heard of a few mums having trouble with the s26 & constipation. Rory does strain to go to the toilet and his little face goes bright red and he makes awful noises. He also goes up to 3 days with going to the toilet and my CHN told me that its fine. She said if his little quokka looking poos are at all soft then its fine but its when they are quite hard that he might be constipated. Apparently constipation is a word thrown around alot with FF babies and its not always the case.
I dont know if that helps you any haha. But because Rory does strain alot when he goes I am thinking of changing. Constipated or not its not fun to see our little ones go through that much strife to go to the toilet.
Do you mind people calling Madeline, Maddy???

I slept like a baby last night. I took some herbal sleeping drops and didnt even wake when DH came home. Ahhhhh I feel wonderful with a full nights sleep. Its funny that because I was able to wake as soon as I heard a little cry out of Rory this morning at 5:30am, thank god he did a all-nighter.

I didnt know we had to vote today!!! Thats what I get for watching foxtel

No I dont mind her being called maddie, we do it all the time. We actually played with the idea of just calling her Maddie, but Madeline has always been a fave of mine, used to call my barbies Madeline!! Some people pronounce it Mad-a-line but its Mad-a-lynn.
I think I might give the Nan gold ago, I've been reading some good things about it online. Dont really want to switch, but dont want to see her unhappy either. Lucky thing, sleeping through the night!! I went to bed too late (12.00) was up at 3am and then up at 7.30. I'm buggered!! I find those herbal drops work well, often I'm lying in bed thinking about silly little things and then cant sleep, but the drops seem to relax your mind a bit.

Renee ~ So glad you had a good sleep - OOps, it's voting day? lmao.

Hayley ~ Is maddie crying and in pain when she tries to go?...
You can get coloxyl drops from the chemist in the baby section, they're just made from ethanol (pure sugar cane) and they taste like chocolate (yummo - I try everything before i give it to bub lol) I also gave Scarlet brown sugar mixed with water, The hospy told me to do the brown sugar thing but the drops are better because the measurements are perfect.
The normal Karicare is going great for us so far, The gold's are supposed to have more vitamins and stuff though.

Omg it is voting day, whoops forgot!

Yes she is crying. Thanks Hayley, maybe I will try the drops first, how does it work, do you give it to baby before you offer the bottle? Dont want to jump the gun with changing formula, but i dont want her to be in pain either.

You give them to her in her bottle, 10 drops 3 times a day... Since she hasn't been constipated on it before now maybe she's just a little bit backed up (sorry to be crass..lol) She might just need something to help her go and then hopefully she'll be okay.

You don't have to give them a gold formula, in fact, if you ask me I think it is all a load of rubbish designed to make you buy the most expensive formula thinking it is 'better' because it is 'gold' with all the added good stuff kwim? I have only ever used Nestle Lactogen, which is the cheapest one on the market and my kids have thrived on it. I usually switch to Nan 2 when they are over 6mths, but I noticed the other day that these ones (nan 1 and Nan 2) have both gone 'gold' too, so I don't think I will swap.

There is a sticky thread that I created about constipation in BF and FF babies, I will post the link for you.
ETA - here it is; Info regarding bowel habits and constipation in Babies

Agnes, Alister is only just coming good today. Last night he was in terrible pain from wind and I had to carry him around in the pouch for hours - not good when I have a mild dose of Lindsays tummy bug (but I'm better today) and don't want to give it to him. It never said on the info sheet how long to expect the side effects to last for, but I imagine a few days at least.
