i dont think you can or will ever be happy with who you leave them to, as in deciding that you are facing the fact that you have died and wont be with your kids ever again no one will parent them the same as you would have....

it horrible and a nightmare to face. but its just not fair to not have a plan in place if something did happen.

DH and i set a date we had to decide by, it stopped the merry-go-round confusion.

we did decide on my parents as 4 is just too many to give to another family and mum and dad would move into our house so the kids life could continues with out a move. we also have life insurance so that would pay for a nanny to help mum and dad out seeing they are older.

what about your SIL living at your house??

Crumpet: Just don't die, I have no idea who i'd leave MJ with- cos no one would parent her the way I would like.

Glenny: re the inlaws! Glad katherine is more settled though.

TEgam: grrr to your visitors, they sound like my inlaws no fricking help. Oh yeah did I tell you the time they came over for tea- made me cook (I had just had MJ for frick sake) oh then they asked just as I finished dishing up do I want any help?? A bit fricking late! Not once since MJ has been born have they offered to cook for us or bring a meal! I give up!

Afm, Just so tired feeling ****ty anyway and MJ decided she wanted to stay awake til 5AM!!! i'm just so exhausted- I was so ready to give up last night I just didn't know what else to do . Glad she finally went to sleep! Just had breakfast (at midday!)and about to have a shower. Just feel so weak and tired. She had been sleeping really well until last night too so not sure what was up. Now I feel bad cos I think I didn't wake up much after that to feed her even when she was crying But I was out to it, and not sure how long she'd been crying before i'd woken up. But I did feed her again at 7am.

OMG, girls, you have all been sooo chatty! I can't keep up!

Mizqte, I can't tell you if bf babes eat more, but I can tell you that all of my babies have been bf when they were this little (DD was fully bottle fed by the time she was 7mths old) and they have all been frequent feeders. DD used to eat 1-2 hours at night until about 12 wks, DS1 was about 2-3hrly til he was about 7mths, and DS2 has been feeding 2hrly lately. It is pretty normal for babies to eat so frequently. Even when DD was bottle fed at 7mths she ate 3hrly til she was about 10mths old. Breast milk is processed by the babys body alot faster than formula is which can be why bf bubs eat so frequently. But in saying that a ff bub is not necessarily going to go longer between feeds because it is formula fed...

Isadora, welcome!! My little man was born on the 14th of Jan. He was a little over a week early, thank goodness!! We too are bfing and while it hasn't been anywhere near as difficult as it was with DS1(bf for 2yrs) or DD(bf for 7mths), it's not been terribly easy. I have had a few cracks and blisters on my nipples and I still have thrush in my nipples and DS has it in his mouth too, which we have had for 2wks now. But other than that DS feeds like a champion and has since birth. Breastfeeding is n ot easy!! But as our bubs and us grow into it, it is definately rewarding (I think so anyway!)
As for vaccinations, we have been advised by our MCHN to get ours a few weeks early, at 6wks due to an outbreak of whooping cough in a few towns nearby. So we will be going off next week to have the vax. I hate vaccinations, I will ahve to make sure DH can come, lol. Big sooky lala that I am!

Dis, I am having some long and sleepless nights too. While last night was better, I was still up at 11.30 (went to bed at 9.30), 1.30, 3.30 for 1 1/2hrs, and then for the day at 5.45am. Lily got up at 6.20 and then Liam at 6.45. Day before yesterday I don't think I got more than 3hrs sleep. My god I don't know how I did it for months when Lil and Li were little and and studied and worked...let alone talking coherantly! Last night I burst into tears at the dinner table when I told Lily to eat her mashed potato and DH asked if I thought it was fair because I let Liam leave the table...
Hope you've been getting some sleep though!

csab, good luck with your tests hun, I hope all is well. Take care of yourself too. I know how hard it can be, but if you're not healthy, then everyone else suffers too!

crumpet, your date nite is gay, lol!! I'm jealous! I wish I could muster up the energy to spend some quality time with DH. But with not getting mush sleep and having at least one child on me all day the last thing I want at the end of the night is someone else on me and wanting something from me, lol! I'm hoping once DS2 starts sleeping better, we can get back some us time. Yay, @ getting the go ahead for #2!! I waited for 2yrs to get the nod for #3. Just when I had given up and gave away all of my baby things and maternity clothes he said yes...
I have no people that I have actually asked to look after my kids if anything were to happen to us, though I have two people in mind, my SIL and BIL, or our best family friends (DH's best friend and wife). I guess we should really talk about it and put it in writing or something...actually we need to change our wills too....

Tegam, jealous about the 5hr stretch of sleep! Caelan is going 4hrs at the most if I'm lucky, usually 2-3. Then Liam is still waking every night too. This sleeplessness is killing me! I don't know how I did it with the two big kids, especially when I was working and/or studying too...
Poo to your guests! I hope they go home soon!!

fo3, I'm with you of an evening. I hate it come about 4ish and the kids all go feral. I am usually cooking, bathing and eating with Caelan attached to me in some way or another. And then the big kids want me....god how I hate the witching hours!

Jen, yay @ moving soon!! At least you have a date to aim for now!!

glenny, that's great that the meds are working for you! Must be a relief!! Poo to your MIL, if she can't do it how you're asking her to, then you'd be better off doing it yourself, doesn't she realise that?? Silly woman! I can't believe that grandmothers (ect) can forget how tough it was to be mums. I don't understand that they can't help their daughters (DIL, ect...) in a positive and productive way? I hope I'm a good grandmother, lol!!

OK, gotta go my me time is up apparently...DH is 'over' the baby...(I was over him at 3am too, but I had to keep on keeping on...)

Sorry em I think I missed you....

its just such a tough decision hey....
glad im not the only one who has gone around in circles thinking about it....

nah i just dont think i could trust SIL to actually do a decent job parenting.
i know no-one will ever raise her the way we would like to but she just isnt cut out to be responsible for a child at this stage.

Crumpet: Just don't die, I have no idea who i'd leave MJ with- cos no one would parent her the way I would like.

im hoping to avoid it if i can! i agree no one will ever do it the way i will and that makes it so much harder!

hope u can get some better sleep happening soon!

was a pretty gay effort but as i feel more confortable we will leave her but just not yet..... oh and dont worry there was no sexy time involved i got out of it telling him my stitches were hurting! lucky he has no idea that after 10 weeks there should be no pain there at all!

we are going to make a appt with a solicitor soon to get it all sorted out.....

dont u love it when ur DH is "over" the baby, never mind we get over the baby at night or during the day!

AFU: poor summah is still blocked up in the head....
ive tried everything, steaming her in the bathroom, vaporiser, chest rub, snot sucker, panadol.... is there anything else u mummies recommend i can try??

she is still happy and sleeping well, no change there just loads and loads of snot!

crumpet - is it definitely a cold? could it be an allergy this early on?

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY MUMMY!!! 9 hours sleep, oh yeah, baby! he slept 7-1:30, half hour for feed, then 2-4:30, half hour for feed, then started waking up at 7am
Just thought I'd record this for posterity in case it never happens again . ..

And after all my talk about DH's great immunity, guess what, he's got a cold - great! Poor thing is trying hard to keep his distance so we don't catch it. He's had a good rest today though, so hopefully tomorrow he'll be feeling much better.

Quite a busy week for us - tomorrow is piano in the arvo (have been back at it for 2 weeks - just 3 students), Tuesday is playgroup in the morning, then off to new house to get it measured up for blinds in the arvo. Wednesday I have a chiro appt for DS and then going to the pool with mum, SIL and her kids in the arvo. Thursday having a friend over in the morning. Friday I was thinking about heading in to school to show DS to all the staff - we'll see how much energy I have by then! Hmmm, should really do some packing, but not sure when that's going to happen!

    have a great week, girls

Not much time, just popping in to say hi!

DH and I went to the movies today We left the boys with mum knowing Josh probably wouldn't need a feed, but I expressed 90mls anyway. He didn't need it. We saw Tangled (what did you expect, I AM a Disney nut!) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

Vax tomorrow I'm going to be brave and go myself for the first time EVER. Not looking forward to my examination, but DH is because then it will be back on

    Hope you're all well!

Disgirl - We have our 6 week check on Tuesday and I am so not looking forward to my examination either, really dont want anything near there ever again lol. I remember feeling like this with DD#1, but with her I had tearing, at least this time around I avoided that...Good luck for tomorrow.

Lilias - We have been fighting thrush for about two weeks now too. Tried the nilstat for bub and daktarin for me, I thought I had gotten rid of it, then it came back again about 4 days ago. What is the next step after this? I heard antibiotics but can you take them while feeding?

Crumpet - Scary thought, I hate to even think of it

Hope all the sleep deprived mamas managed to have a rest this weekend.

How is everyone going with breastfeeding in public? Anyone feel as uncomfortable as I do?

Isa: I dont care who or where i feed but seeing i had fed three kids for atleast 4.5yrs in total im use to all the looks you get! Sorry you feel bad. Antibiotics cause thrush, you need to treat yourself and DH for atleast 14days after you think its gone...

Disgirl: yay on seeing a movie, dh and i have seen two since molly was born, weird thats about as many as we had seen in the last three years I have taken Molly with me tho, just cant leave her yet. Mum said we should do a slow removal of her for me, next movie mum will come and sit outside the movies then the next movie she will go around to the library and then maybe ill let her stay home with her.....hehe mum thinks she is so funny!

    Crumpet: hows thy snotty child?

    Jen: enjoy your busy week!

AFM: Miss Molly is having an unsettled day, not much sleep which is so unlike her...we'll see what sort of a night i have. Mowed .5acre of land today so DH did stress out about it as soon as he got home, it was 35degrees here....now thats love I was thinking of the size of my arse....that kept me going

Tegam, you are a mad woman you know! 5 acres in 35 degrees/!?! Totally nuts. Hope you got some sleep last night.
For some reason I'm finding it easier to leave Josh than I did the other two. Mind you, I missed him like crazy and didn't put him down for the rest of the day.

Isadora, I'm like Tegam, I get mine out anywhere, anytime, but I've also breastfed for 2+of the last three years. I use to sell bras too and was trained to measure and fit women so I guess I'm just really comfortable around boobs I try to remember to be discreet (sp?) around other people and in public though.

Us: We had a great night last night. 6 hours and 3 hours from Josh and DS2 slept through! Very happy with that

AFU: well summah is STILL snotty, and to top it off last night she was FERAL...
we were at MIL's for dinner and she screamed the whole time, VERY unusual for her, normally she whinges but no screaming!
checked her temp when we got home and it was a degree up on normal but still not high, she had a shower with dad and still wasnt right so i gave her some panadol with her bottle and she settled down....

that was until she spewed..... EVERYWHERE!!!
and TMI but it was full of snot!!! WTF is with that?!?!?!

she slept through and seems ok today but ive called the dr and they are going to give her a once over when DH and I get pur whooping couch jabs coz im not happy with the fact its been 2 weeks and there is really no great improvement....

in exciting news, ive booked us a 4 day trip to the barossa valley for DH's birthday.... and its a suprise for him!!
i feel so naughty not telling him but i know he will love it!

Sounds like she's just swallowed some of her snot and that's why she spewed and why it was all in there. Poor little thing.

Sorry I have been MIA lately, just hard finding the time for anything lately, have a moment the other morning, just didnt think I could keep going,

Well I woke on sunday to a head cold so havent been on the computer much, still feel pretty crappy but a little better than yesterday, slepted in this morning so had like 2 minutes to race around and get everything ready, thankfully the winkies actully listen to me last night and had gotten themselves mostley ready for school..

PK must be getting my cold, he wont let me put him down, crys if he is awake, and think he wants boob but screams while trying to drink, then burbs and spews it all up... not nice..

Last night when he woke for his 2 am feed he was so busy trying to look around he wouldnt really drink, then when he was feeding he would still try to look around but take my boob with him, ouch... so for the 1st time I just put him back to bed ( we co sleep ) and went back to sleep myself.. he either got enough milk even though he was playing up or he just wasnt hungry, as he slepted another 2 hrs...

Hope you are all doing well, cant believe our babies are 2 mths old... where has that time gone...

I really dont want to do this on my own... its not fair, this wasnt part of my life plan...
