I think we have some teething going on here now too. Her hands are constantly in her mouth! And chews hard out on this one particular teething toy we have... think it came in the bounty bag?? It's a round green one, might have come with panadol info. Anyway, she loves it! Gets stroppy when she drops it haha. I bought a teething necklace, not sure yet if it's doing anything or not, but can't hurt to try I guess.

Is anyone else losing copious amounts of hair?! I know it's all normal with the hormone adjustments, but it seems I am constantly picking strands of my hair off Emily! And clogging the shower drain ;o

We are still getting up once a night for a bottle, but it's manageable. The past couple of weeks with the school holidays, I have actually enjoyed the quietness of the night feed and having some sleepy snuggles I type this while yawning away

Emily is still in her bassinet in our room over night, and out here in the kitchen/family/lounge room during the day. She still has a bit of room in there, and I think the weight limit on it is 9kg, so hopefully we'll get another couple of months out of it. Still trying to decide whether to move the cot into my room or not. We'll see how I feel about it when the time comes I guess. Better get some sleep before little miss wakes!

hi ladies, hope everyone is well.

vic - nice to hear from you, sounds like you and jack are still going really well. I can imagine going back to work soon would be tough, will you do a few half days with him at child care to ease him in to it? im sure he'll be fine too, he sounds like a little trooper.

peeks - he's feeding every 2 hours during the day atm, so getting in some extra feeds. had him weighed again and he put on 375 in 2 weeks, so its gone back up again which we are happy about. was starting to worry that maybe I didn't have enough milk etc. get through the school holidays ok?! we have that green teething thing too, my little guy likes to look at it & sometimes accidently grasps it... not quite connecting that its his hands yet! I was losing hair in the shower the first 4-5 weeks after he was born, but seems to have settled down a bit now. we have started to talk about when to put our little guy in his own room too, he's a weenie compared to others his age but longish so he hasn't got much room left in his basket. I don't want to put him in his own room yet though... maybe in 10 years...

cinder - feeding is going ok, thanks. I still get sore sometimes which is frustrating bc I though by 12 weeks it would be fine. I still think its those little calcium deposits that come and go that make it worse though, so im not looking fwd to teething! I have noticed my little one sucking on his fist now, and dribbling a bit more.

afm - had mchn visit earlier this week, he's going ok for weight now (still 3 percentile!) but they've given us a referral to have his hips ultrasounded. apparently the creases behind the knees don't match up? anyone had experience with this before? my niece was in a brace from about 6 weeks, so I know what to expect, but she was breech. hoping its nothing, the brace certainly makes things a bit more difficult. other than that, things are going ok, still struggling a bit with the 30-40 minute naps during the day. im so tired but don't get any time to nap during the day... sounds indulgent I know, but I would just like an hour to rest! he is very good overnight though, thank goodness.

Hi ladies, it's been a while. Hope your all well. The advice you get as a first time mum is overwhelming, so I decided to just wing it by myself instead.
DD is healthy and beautiful. She will self settle now, grizzles for a bit. Cries a lot, most of the day it seems. Been to the GP and there is nothing wrong with her, she just likes to cry I guess. She has dropped her night feeds which is great, but unfortunately she is still waking 3-6 times a night. We suspect it may be the dummy. So I am still ridiculously sleep deprived, I can't function most days and my brain is fried from it, but I guess I'll get used to it. I am also using the green panadol ring and she is dribbling all over the place.
Might not be on for a while so take care xx

hey tasha! nice to hear from you.
i don't blame you for being sleep deprived... waking 3-6 times a night would devastate me. our little guy has started to spit out his dummy which makes settling during the day a bit difficult. he has just woken now actually, after a 10 minute nap.. that i had to re-settle him 3 times for... better go, just wanted to say hi & pop in again soon. xx

Nice to hear from you, Tasha If you feel things aren't right with the amount or frequency of crying then do get a second opinion - trust your Mummy instincts! Winging it by yourself is fine!! No one has your DD, so only you and her know best, just keep doing whatever works for you both. Sucks you are so sleep deprived, I really hope things improve.

In the process of moving Emily's cot into my bedroom, got as far as sorting the piles of outgrown clothes that had accumulated in there over the past few months.. then lost interest! I need to take it apart to get it down the hallway, so might make DH do that since I put it together the first time, ha! Now that the weather is warming up, I moved her change mat and nappies etc into the change table in her bedroom - we'd previously been changing her with the mat on the kitchen table because we'd usually have the fire going out here so it was warmer for her.

She was 4 months old yesterday! Time is going so quick Must ring and book her next lot of needles

Hi Hope everyone is well! We are weaning off being swaddled for sleeps. Leaving one arm unwrapped for day naps. Tried going cold turkey but after 45mins I gave in and wrapped with one arm out. Seems to be a good compromise for the time being I've just started using coconut oil on Emily's head for her cradle cap. DH hates it lol, but it seems to be working. Need to get a soft bristle brush to brush it out. I'm down to pumping once per day, I usually try do it last thing before bed so I'm not waking in the night full and sore!

    Hi Girls

Peeks - I have tried to stop swaddling, but I too have given in. I know I have to try as he has almost grown out of his ergo swaddles. I have loved using them, but he looks like a sausage in them now

Tasha - Nice to hear from you. I often think of you and how your going.

Andie - Glad all is going well.

    Hi to everyone else.

AFM - I go back to work in 2 weeks Jack is booked into day care and I have been preparing him by getting him in a good day routine. We were winging it for ages, however he was only sleeping in weird blocks and not long enough. So now he has proper sleeps during the day with a couple of power naps. It so much easier. He is teething at the moment which is making him a bit grizzly and clingy but we are coping. He is still the sweetest baby and I love him more and more. I feel like a mum now. Its taken a while which surprised me. I bonded straight away and loved him straight away, but I felt like I was playing house with him and I should be at work lol. Now I feel like a mum and its awesome.

peeks & vic - are you weaning off swaddling in preparation for when they roll etc? (im assuming it becomes a risk then?). just wondering if this is something I should be thinking about soon. my little guy still loves being wrapped up, although occasionally when I get him up he has worked his hands free anyway.

vic - please tell me how you managed to get jack to have a decent sleep during the day, my little guy still naps 30-40mins. and feeds 2-2.5 hourly all day. so he's having around 6-7 feeds per day, so 4-5 naps of 30-40mins. id love a 2 hour block. just one per day would be awesome. or even 1.5 hour block.

im using coconut oil for cradle cap atm too, its quite a strong smell & sticks around for a lot longer than the olive oil, my little guy smells like a chocolate crackle! things are going ok here, he has started waking at 1.30/2am now which is a bit of a shock after sleeping from 9/9.30pm-6am. not sure if he's waking bc he'h hungry (I feed him anyway), or bc he's too hot/cold etc. his routine now is bed at 8.30/9pm, wake at 1.30/2am for feed & back in bed, then sleep until 9am. its not too bad, just wish he'd find his overnight sleep pattern again. hip scan was all good, no need for a brace which was a relief. scan was quite traumatic bc he cried the whole time, haven't heard him cry like that before
trying to decide whether to put his cot in our room, or put him in his own room soon... he hasn't got much more room in his basket so im going to have to decide soon. not sure im ready for him to be in his own room yet... he still seems so small.

    Hi everyone
Glad to hear everyone and their bubs are going well..

We are also doing the one arm out of the wrap , we did the same thing with DD1 and then did two arms until we got her into a sleeping bag .. DD2 has been rolling over onto her belly from her back for a few weeks now so with the rolling and the heat it will be good to get her used to being unwrapped .. Although she does love it and settles so easily with it , we tried two arms once and yup we had to wrap one arm straight back up hahah..

We had a little cradle cap here , I rubbed her head with coconut oil , massaged it in , then I washed it off with mild baby shampoo and then rubbed in sorberlene cream .. She hasn't had a problem since !
But I use coconut oil for everything I love it .. It's an amazing face wash as well ..

Still feeding well , feeding a lot more ATM as her gums are really hurting her so It's a lot of comfort feeding as well which I'm fine with she is still in her bassinet in our room but we have put tej for up and ledt the side rail off and pushed the cot and our bed up against each other , so when she wakes she comes into bed with me to feed and then I just slide her over onto the cot ..

We will have the next set of needles coming up as well .. Although she did wake up with some sniffles today so will make sure she is completely well before we book in for those..

So glad to hear all is ok with your little one Andie , you must he so relieved our DD1 has only just gone into her own room and she is 3.8 months old , and she still comes in to bed with us most nights when she wakes through out the night .. So keep the for in your room for as long as you want to they are only little once , so it won't be forever

Time is going so quickly , where is my little baby going ?

vic, so glad you are settling into motherhood, it's awesome isn't it! Hope you are enjoying these last couple of weeks at home. Are you going back full-time? Or easing back into it?

Andie, I am weaning off the swaddling in preparation for the warmer weather, and for moving her into her cot. We've had a few hot days here already and it feels so wrong to be wrapping her.. but she won't sleep any other way! We've switched from flannel bunny rugs to muslin wraps too. Emily is still feeding every 2-3 hours during the day, and once overnight. She has 7 bottles a day, usually only naps for 1 sleep cycle between them. Sometimes only 10 minute naps if the boys are home and being noisy! Great news on the all clear with the hip scan

Cinder, do you just use plain coconut oil for your face wash? Might have to give it a try! Does it leave an oily residue?

Haven't done our 4 month needles yet as Emily has been sick (again!). Poor love Started with DS1 complaining of a headache, and he ended up off school for a week. The day he went back to school, I got a call at 10am to pick up DS2. So he's just had a few days off as well. Emily has been coughing and sneezing quite a bit. No teeth here yet, but constantly has her hands in her mouth, and dribbling to no end. Had to buy more bibs to keep up with her lol.

Don't know if I've mentioned it before or not, but I'm a foster carer for a local animal rescue. I've just taken in a gorgeous Mumma kitty and her 4 newborn kittens! They are sooo cute, Mumma cat is only a kitten herself (I guess around 6-9mths old), she is such an awesome Mum. It's amazing just sitting and watching them nurse and interact. Almost makes me clucky!!

hey ladies, hope everyone is well

cinder - my little one was feeding a bit more last week too, and is drooling a bit this week so I think something is going on in there. he seems happy enough though, so like you I am happy to let him have a bit of extra time chomping! thanks for the feedback re: putting him in his own room/cot etc. i think id like to keep him in with me for a bit longer...

peeks - your little one's routine sounds exactly like mine, although mine has surprised me with a couple of back-to-back sleep cycles during the day over past couple of days. i just tried popping his dummy back in and walking out thinking 'this will never work', then he was quiet & went back to sleep... i was shocked! must be growing or something, needing a bit more than his 30-40 min naps. hope your boys & emily are all better now, nothing worse than cold/flu doing the rounds. its funny you saying you're getting clucky watching your kittens... i have been thinking about trying again early next year... but maybe its bc sil has just had her baby & i have been visiting too much!

afm - having a good time lately, little one has been smiling more/chatting himself to sleep & chatting to us when he wakes up - its ridiculously cute. the extra naps during the day lately have come as nice surprise but i wont bank on them to stay, just enjoy it while it lasts! my little one's getting a lot more strength in his head/neck now (wasn't that great bc i was a bit slack with tummy time...), so he's enjoying himself sitting up more (being supported), standing on our legs & looking around at everything. thought i would miss the newborn stage, but this stage is such a lovely time too.

Vic, was thinking of you as you headed off to work yesterday. I hope it went well. How has Jack settled in at day care?

Andie, on the rare occasion I can pop her dummy back in and get another sleep cycle, but it doesn't happen often Must be nice knowing DS will have a wee cousin the same age to play with as he grows up. Emily is so far still the youngest in our family. Her oldest cousin on my side is 10, and youngest cousins are 4 (twins). DH's side of the family we don't see very often as they live away

We have had some success with day sleeps without the swaddle! It's been a lot warmer here the past couple of days so she hasn't had much choice really! It's so cute how she sleeps with her arms above her head Now to get her sleeping in the cot... ;o 4 month needles are booked in for Friday.

Thanks for thinking of me girls

Work went well. In someways its like i had gone back in time. Jacks day went ok i think. He slept from 9.10 to 11.40 so that was good. They got him asleep using the pram which annoyed me a bit as we stopped using the pram/ rocking to get him to sleep. I left instructions and showed them how how he goes down. So yay he slept, boo to the pram. Still whatever works i guess. I went in at lunch time to see how he was doing and he was having a bottle. He was laying on the mat while one of,the girls fed him. I thought it was strange to see him flat on his back and not on her lap. I got told that morning they couldnt administer panadol so i thought i would give it to him at lunch as he would be due, but was told i was not allowed. So i left a bit distressed hoping he wasnt going to be inpain all afternoon. He was really tired when i picked him up, i guess from all the stimulation. He seemed happy enough, although when i changed his nappy he has what looks like a bruise coming up on his knee. I know they didnt do anything to him, but just made me feel frustrated about leaving him while i am at work. i think he must have banged his knee on the bar of the pram thats in the front as we dont have ours on our pram yet. Either that or another bubba has given him a toy a bit too friendly. Its a good centre with a great reputation and i am sure its more my issue about leaving him. I know it will be good for him especially being an only child.

Sorry to rant abouz me. Glad everyones little bubbas are doing well.

Vic, I can understand you feeling frustrated - no one will ever quite match up to Mum & Dad in the way we look after our little ones. Bit strange about the panadol?? Is it because it's not prescribed? I know you would normally have to fill out a form for anti-biotics. Did they tell you why you weren't allowed to give it? Would you be allowed to sign him out, give him panadol, then sign him back in? ;o Hopefully he breezes through teething and it's not an issue!

peeks - hope the needles go ok today, im not looking forward to our 4 mth ones which will be at the end of the month . yay for sleeps without the swaddle, I am really hesitant to try it myself as he sleeps/settles so well with it! guess I have to try eventually though.

vic - as a first time mum, I would be a little miffed about your first day at child care too... not sure why they wouldn't just put him on their lap to feed either? cant be comfortable for him drinking his bottle laying flat. the panadol thing seems odd too, like peeks said, usually you just sign off on a medication form & that's it? I hope things go a bit more to plan today. the main thing is that jack seems happy enough, its probably harder on you than him

not much going on here atm, my little guy must be having another sleepy day bc last night he slept 9pm-5am, fed then back in bed 6-8.45am, fed then back in bed 10am-still waiting for him to wake up! its funny bc when he's not sleeping I would give anything for half an hour rest, then when he sleeps like this I don't know what to do with myself. I guess I could do the washing, pack the dishwasher, clean up... . or I could have a cup of tea, watch some crappy daytime tv & sit in my pj's all day...

hi ladies, hope you're all well. bit quiet in here lately...

we had our 4 mth mchn visit this week, all good & he has finally cracked the 5 kg barrier - he is now 5.3 kgs! he has now shot up the weight percentile chart from 3% to 5%... he will be 4 mths on the 24th & he is just a gorgeous little guy. happy & content most of the time with a lovely smile/grin. makes me want more when he smiles at me. I think we are nearly ready to get out the chair bit of our pram, he is growing to long for the carrycot. I opted for the smaller carrycot (there was a larger one), so lucky I had a small baby really otherwise it wouldn't have lasted 2 months. I think I can get another 2-3 weeks out of it, but wondering what you guys are all doing? I read that they weren't supposed to be in the chair piece until after 6 months, but there's no way he will last in the carrycot until then.

    Hi girls.

Andie -Jack is in the chair seat now. He grew out of his capsule a few weeks ago. He is over 8 kilo. It was also too heavy for me to lug around. Good luck with your bubs injections at the end of this month. Jack was really sooky and spewy after his. He vomitted all the next day and that day he started carrot, so i was covered in orange vomit. Gross!

Jack has had conjunctivitis. One of the joys of day care. Chemist said to bathe in salt water, but ended up taking him to docs and they gave him drops. And within hours he was so much better. Thank god! Teething has been hard work for him and i dont think we will see teeth for another few months. He can roll from back to front and it close to rolling front to back. So cute.
