    First Fathers Day

    Hello,

I am new to this thread. DS born 15 May so we just made it in! DS is great

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts for Father's Day gifts. I don't usually go in for these 'commercial' occassions but this one feels special & I want to give DH something for keeps but can't think what to get.

    Any ideas????

    Hi Renee. And welcome!

I was thinking of buying DH a metal letting or something that can be engraved. That's always nice. Or hand/foot prints framed. We usually do a BBQ, or lunch and DH's favorite food.

We ended up going to kmart today. I've booked in Elijah at the Dr tomorrow. I'm a bit worried but not sure if she can do anything as he's so young. I know you can't give babies cough medicine until they're at least 2. He's got a rattley chest, but no green/yellow mucus. So that's a good sign it's not an infection. I think Cooper broke his toe as well. But I know the Dr can't do anything much about that. I guess that's boys for ya. Lol. Always in the wars! But being 3 he forgets about it and just keeps playing. Lol

Anyway better go, better get dinner on. My poor Elijah sounds terrible. I just hope it doesn't turn into croop

    Hi
welcome renee fathers day i havent really had alot of time to think of gifts yet Older children have made cards etc and have a special fathers day stall at school so they always buy something from there its just the 2 little ones i have to decide on what to get or what to do. My DD was born the 14th May.

Marni- yes still raining i swear it just rains when i have to take 2 little kids out of the house every week you can gurantee wednesday it will be raining.
no sign of AF surely cant be far away (i pray) have had sore boobs all day i dont even wanna think that i could be pregnant that wouldnt be a good thing for our family right now might grab a test tommorrow just to ease my mind i think. Is P still off the reflux meds? M is.

Sleepy- i hope the docs appointment goes well and E is ok i hate when they get any kind of illness. Boys surely will be boys when my DS was around 3 he stood on a nail went straight through and out the other side of his toe and he was stuck to the timber it was on but with in hours he was back running around again.
    goodluck with the docs.

Traylee- S sounds like she is gaining weight and growing well have you had AF again i know you had it abit before me i think.

Anyway better feed M and settle her then an early night i hope if DD2 dosent wake with these dreaded teeth.

yep i have had 2 afs since havin s now, which is weird cause with my first it took 6 months for my first one to come back,
so i had one 16th july, and one the 19th aug, so it just finished i was a bit annoyed i got it when i was goin away for our holiday on the gold coast for troys bday, but oh well least it came lol
S is still sleeping 12hrs a night without waking so im pleased about that, she was goin down at 5 waking at 5 sometimes later, but lately its been 6 till 6, so hope she keeps it up,
i need to try get her on her belly more and side more during the day the nurse said so thats hard cause all the swings and bouncers require them being on back,
oh well i told troy he is to play wit her lots while im at work and to make sure she not on her back but even if we put something behind her back and try let her have side time she just pushes back onto it so doesnt work. the nurse also said change sides when i feed her cause i always hold her in my left arm so lots of things to try change hope u all have a great day

Traylee - You can get a mat from Big W that is designed for tummy time. It is on $20 too. Are you enjoying working?

Cap - I wouldn't have been able to wait to do a test! You are way more patient then me. P is still off her reflux meds. The chiropractor gave me a different baby! She is down to fortnightly appts now as well.

I am having a shocker with Tiana and daycare. She doesn't want to go. It is awful, so I figured that I would pick her up early yesterday and she didn't want to leave! I had a hysterical child tantrum! I swear people thought I was beating her she was so loud. I really don't know what to do.

We had a difficult pregnancy and labour, and are very glad to finally be blessed with our little girl.

Hi Trish! and Welcome Hope you enjoy our group. What is your little girls name? and her brothers? I'm so sorry that he didn't survive his arrival. Feel free to talk about it here if you want. I'm marni, 26 with 2 girls. How big is your baby now and what is she doing? It's great being a mummy hey?!

Phoenix - The dancing sounds cute! You should try and video it.

pmccask - I hear you on the sleeping! Sounds like we are all in the same boat atm.

I have been up at least 3 times a night for I can't remember how long - last night it was 4! I am tired and have had enough. Is anyone considering putting bubs on formula after 6 months. I am considering it for a few reasons - but feel that would be to selfish and then the guilt sets in. I just don't know what to do.

Hello sleepynolan & thank you for the welcome,

I was thinking of cuff links for Father's Day & engraving the backs...still not sure! I have booked DH & DS into a Father's Day Baby Sensory Class so that should be fun for them both.

About the cold - in the past few weeks both my DH & I have had the most dreadful cold (I still have it). Our Herbalist gave us a Homeopathic remedy called ABC that we give to DS so that he doesn't get sick with this kind of illness. He is also breastfeeding which I am sure helps.

The ABC is Aconite, Belladonna & Chamomilla. It is basically to be given when there are any signs of illness or fever. So far so good! I am not sure if you can pick this up as a pre-made tonic or if you would need to see a Homeopath or Herbalist????? I hope Elijah is better SOON.

Renee - Hi! Sorry I missed your post from the last page. When was your little boy born? What's his name? I'm Marni, 26 with 2 girls. Tiana is nearly 4 and Phoebe is 4 months on Monday. With Fathers Day I ordered a card from Hallmark that I personalised with the girls pictures and stuff. Not sure about present yet. Maybe some undies.

Sleepy - How did you go at the Dr? Hope E is improving already!

Phoebe seems to be developing a tendency to have one 1/2 hour sleep in the morning and then around lunchtime go down for about 3 hours. She will then have one more short nap in the afternoon. May not be what they say they should do but works for us! Bet it will all change when she has her needles on Tuesday though

    Hi.

Well the Dr says E has Croup (sp?) so we have a steroid medication he has to take for 3 days and some antibiotics too. So it's not good. We aren't sleeping very well either.

So all we can do is give him the medicine and panadol. She also said I can put Vicks on the bottom of his feet to help also.

At least Cooper didn't break his toe! So that was good news

Well I hope you're all enjoying your week, I wish I was getting more sleep, but not much I can do about it.

    Hi Strangers
Been a while since I logged in here. My internet at home is dodgy so I am at the library and Zen is sleeping peacefully so I think I just may have time to post!

Fathers day: this being our first one I wanted to do something special. I am sending DH with some mates to a car event 'powercruise' this sat. On the actual fathers day I have made a card with a poem I got off the net about fathers and sons and am placing Zens handprint on it. And I am giving him the iconic fathers day gift - old spice.

AF: still havent got mine. Hoping not to for a while longer...so nice without them. A few friends who Breast & bottle feed have had similar results..a little over the place at first.

Routine: Zen has put himself into a routine :O he basically wakes approx 6, I get him at 6.30 and he feeds between 6.30-7am then plays till around 8, sleeps for 20-30mins, wake and play, sleep approx 10am wake then feed.its gotten so I can keep him to it and go out easily. Although he now is awake until near 8pm each night - I have gotten uninterrupted sleep lately

solids: Zen has been placed on solids at the lunch feed. he is thriving on it. He grew 2cm in the last fortnight so that may be a reason hes been loving extra food!

Life in general: things have just been awesome for me & the little man.DH has taken him a couple of times & i'e gone shopping...went & had a massage etc. Being a mum is just the most awesome thing. I read some of your post on facebook & really feel for you with being sick & sick bubbas.
