OP – I’m still going…albeit needing much more sleep to keep going. No, no cancellations, still booked in for the 16th….so next Friday. Still bleeding, although this past week it’s not been quite as much as it had been (maybe I’m running out of blood )
Lots happening with B. He saw an ENT specialist twice and an eye specialist yesterday. His ruptured sinus is all healed, but the blood and muck from it being ruptured and infected blocked his nasolacrimal (sp??) duct (tear duct). That meant his eye wasn’t draining properly so was staying too wet and providing optimal conditions for bacteria to grow, hence his ongoing eye infections. Saw the eye specialist yesterday, fearing the worst (him needing surgery to clear the blockage). But the Dr. was FANTASTIC, was SO good with B and spent over 45 minutes massaging his tear duct to release the blockage so he could avoid surgery. So the blockage is gone. YEAH BUT he said is duct is really narrow. What that means…whenever he gets a cold they swell, so his eye won’t drain properly. So the dr showed me how to massage it to help it drain so hopefully we’ll avoid the bacterial infections. Best (and most likely case) as he grows the duct will grow and he’ll eventually out grow the issue (in 5 or so years). Worst case, keeps getting infections, duct scars and closes over and surgery is needed. But I guess at least now I know and as soon as I can see a runny nose starting I can start to massage the duct and hopefully avoid any ongoing issues!
I couldn’t imagine B in a big bed yet. He still squirms and wiggles all over the place and I’d be worried about him falling out! I remember you sayign that you were putting yoru DD in a big bed when we were in the belly buddies group, bit it didn’t really click how small she would have been till just now. I tried to imagine B in a big bed, and I can’t. He’s still just SO SMALL!
Dr T - been thinking of you are we approach Friday. I really pray that you'll find out what's going on with you, get some answers and be able to move forwards with your TTC #2! How are you emotionally??
That's wonderful that you saw such a good specialist. They are pretty rare I think! Good also that you've got some techniques now to deal with B's tear duct if he gets sick again. Poor little mite - he's been through a bit hey?
AFU: X back to waking up lots overnight. No idea why but I'm exhausted... add that to the fact that I'm pregnant again (YEAH! ) its all a bit much some nights! I don't like the night time parenting gig at all - I don't like the mummy that I turn in to when he's been awake for hours and all I want to do is go to sleep. Sigh! If only there was a magical something that could tell us exactly why they are waking up and the best way to get them back to sleep.
Oh I know, there is, its called TIME - in time, he will be able to tell me, just like DD can now. But between now and then, I just gotta tough it out. Ah well.
So call me crazy but yeah we're adding another one to our clan. It feels right - both DH and I didn't feel like we were finished. The reactions I've been getting have been priceless - we've only told my parents, ILs and my sister but all three of them were great. My ILs were shocked, then delighted, they teared up and it was hugs all round... lovely.
My parents are in France holidaying, so I skyped them early Sat morning and said I had something to show them and held up the HPT... Mum goes "Is that two pink lines? IS THAT TWO PINK LINES??" and Dad's there going "What is it? Huh?" Mum asked if I was happy, excited, I think basically trying to decide if it was planned? Anyway I said yes and then she cried and dad's still there going "Is she pregnant? What??"
Then I told my sister and let's just say she was less than impressed!!! She actually didn't believe me for a few minutes. Thinks I'm making a mistake - she said "I just think you're really struggling with what you've got on your plate now, why would you want to make it worse?" Thanks for the support dear sister! She'll come around.
Congratulations OP! Wow, I'm impressed! You must have amazing stamina. I am exhausted just thinking about a second. Are you already thinking ahead to the 4th? I know a lot of people think it's better to have an even number "so nobody's left out". TBH, I think that's nonsense because if there are 4 it'd be worse if 3 ganged up on one of them than if 2 did, IYKWIM?
Dr Tal, fingers crossed you can avoid any ongoing issues now that you know about B's tear ducts. And I hope your appointment with the specialist on Friday goes well.
AFU, we went to the sleep clinic last week, finally. Missed the first 2 bookings with flu then conjunctivitis. The verdict: not a miracle fix, that's for sure! The settling technique they showed us is another variation that involves crying, but you listen for escalating crying and you can go back into the room and comfort them at any time if you want to anyway. But the idea is to leave when they're calm but not yet asleep. We all did pretty well at bed time and even when he woke up during the night he went back to sleep without intervention a couple of times within 5 or 10 minutes. They tried to get him onto 2 naps a day which just didn't happen. But since we've been home the last 3 nights he's woken up 3 times the first night and 3rd night, and slept from 8pm to 5am straight the second night. Typically the good night was on a night when we were both busy - DH at a dinner till late and I was up till midnight doing assessment that needed to be completed for a first aid course the next day! Add that to the crap sleep at the sleep clinic because I woke up when all the other babies cried, and I'm probably even more sleep deprived than usual. you gotta laugh.
In other developments, Travis is now walking pretty well - he can get from one end of a room to the other and stop and turn etc, though he does seem to have his hands in the air most of the time still. I wonder how long that habit will take to break! He's obsessed with elmo and lights. He still usually can't quite make the 'L' sound though, so it sounds like "eh-mo" and either "dight" or "bight" when he tries to say those words! He also loves spotting the moon but again he hasn't quite got the whole word working and it always comes out as "moo". He's just so cute!!
Well I'm at work waiting for an external server to have room for me to run a job on it so I had time to procrastinate. But I suppose I should go and find some thing productive to do....
OP – SUPER HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!! at your parents reaction. Cracks me up.
X waking up lots during the night…I’ve actually heard it’s quite common when you get pregnant, especially if you are still breastfeeding, for your little one to get a bit out of whack. I hope his sleeping settles down again soon for you.
How am I? Really depends on the day.
Energy wise I am struggling. But I know that is just because my iron stores are really depleted.
I’m really emotional too, which is really unlike me, I think it’s because I’m so tired, but I snap really quickly (which I don’t like especially if I snap at B) and I cry for absolutely no reason at all, they didn’t have my amoretto syrup for my decaf coffee at my coffee shop this morning and it was all I could do not to burst into tears :wft:
And this one…PLEASE don’t feel bad because I really am VERY happy for you. It’s really hard to hear when someone says they’re pregnant, I tend to struggle with that one a bit, but not because I am not happy for them, but because I know chances of me having another one are getting slimmer and slimmer. I suspect after my surgery on Friday when I have my next FS appointment it will be the IVF talk, and DH and I have spoken about it lots and lots and neither one of us are emotionally prepared to go down that track Ah well….only time will tell.
EJ – That’s fantastic that you were finally able to get into the sleep clinic. Were you there all week? I certainly hope T starts to sleep a lot better for you so you can get some much needed rest
I LOVE the chimp walk! Cracks me up. B never did it for me, he did the ‘thriller’ instead, which was still pretty amusing, but I really was looking forward to the chimp walk Sounds like he’s really on the move now.
My brother and sister-in-law discovered (after they named their daughter Lauren) that L is one of the hardest sounds for kids to make so is usually one of the last sounds they say.
AFM – B has kinda learned how to kick a ball. I say kinda because he doesn’t really kick it per se he just walks behind it and when he steps, it pushes the ball, but it is purposeful…I think. He’s picked up balls and thrown them for ages, and usually he will. But a few weeks ago I started kicking the ball when we are outside playing, and telling him “watch mummy kick the ball” or “this is how to kick a ball” then doing it really slow an exaggerated so he could see/watch what I was doing. Well now when I say kick the ball B he’ll go over to it and push it in front of him with his feet a few times before he picks it up to throw it.
He has also finally discovered where the mulberries that I’ve been feeding him come from. Guess it was only a matter of time. Now he’ll stand under the tree point up and say ta ta repeatedly until I go and pick the mulberries for him. Only problem is that he doesn’t understand where there are no more ripe ones on the tree and he’ll continue to stand under the tree for ages pointing up and saying ta. Then yesterday DH caught him picking all the green and pink ones from the branches he could reach and biting them, making a face when he tasted it, dropping it and picking another one to try. Poor little darling couldn’t understand why they didn’t taste as good as the ones mummy and daddy pick for him
OP – I totally forgot to ask last time I posted.
Which BB group are you in? I am SO going to stalk you LOL.
I really am super excited for you. Had you been TTC on the sly? I knew you were clucky, but I don’t think you’d said you were actually trying.
You know what, it also just occurred to me that Delph should be having her little bundle soon if she’s not already. I might have to stalk around and have a look for her.
AFM – had my D&C on Friday (it was fibroids again…oh they joys) and bleeding has almost completely stopped YEAH Just a bit of spotting now which should end pretty soon. I’ve already gotten some energy back, which is really good. No where near as emotional as I was, which has made me very happy, and while DH has been really good and not said anything I am sure it’s made him (and B) very happy as well.
On a completely different note. My mum made B a teepee. It got here in the mail on Friday. DH got the poles for it on Saturday and set it up. He LOVES it. It was SO CUTE to watch him in it. I hid inside and got DH to bring him downstairs and I poked my head out the winder and his whole face just lit up and he giggled and giggled. He would have spent at least an hour straight playing in it both Saturday and Sunday. He’d get in it and peek out the door and the window, he’d call the dogs in with him, he’d try to climb through the window (without much success) he’d push me in, then peek in through the door and window and he’s just giggle and giggle and giggle. He must have given himself the hiccups at least a dozen times from laughing so much.
I'm so sorry I missed these posts! I find my notifications really unreliable... maybe I'll just have to start checking my "subscribed threads" page on a regular basis. That might work.
Thank you both so much for your kind words I really do love BB for the fact that people are always so happy for you, regardless of their own personal circumstances.
Dr T, especially, I'm so grateful for your words. I know things are tough for you... and I was thinking of you when I posted that... I've got another good friend on here who is also TTC (Emma09 - she's in your 6mth thread I think) and she was overjoyed for me when we had a little meet up last week. I was so touched that she was just thrilled for me, even though she is struggling herself. I got a bit teary!
I am so So SO SO SO very glad that the bleeding has stopped!!!! That is awesome. Now you can get about the serious business of TTC
Nothing would make my day more than to see you and Emma in a BB group soon.
As for BB groups, I'm in the 16th-30th May group. I was the first one in! But some lovely ladies have joined which is awesome. One of the is Teirae who is StarBright's cousin! Small world, virtual and not! I'm due 19/05, which is a week or so after my bday and DH's bday and Mother's Day. So I will be quite content if this LO stays in there a bit longer like X did to make sure he/she is clear of those days!
And yes, we were a bit sly about it... for some reason I didn't want to announce that we were TTC, bit worried about people's reactions I guess. I knew my sister wouldn't approve. She's slowly coming round.
We bought our kiddies a play tent a while ago - they LOVE it. There's all sorts of toys in there and they spend heaps of time crawling in and out... its got a tunnel attached to it with X loves. Its also great for cleaning up the lounge - shove all the little annoying toys in the tent!
I have to say your little guys sound a bit more developed than X in the speech department! But I think it can be a bit slow to get going... then hopefully he'll have a word explosion! He does say "Rrrrrraaaaah!" whenever anyone says tiger or lion... Ffffsh and Oooffff for fish and dog are still favourites... the other day he walked up to me with two balls in his hands and said clear as a bell "BALL" which was a new one. I'm also convinced the other day he smacked his empty dinner bowl and said "More please"!! I'm convinced!!!
Speaking of dinner... Is anyone else struggling with meal times? X wants to eat everything, but he MUST feed himself. Must. If you try, he spits it out. Its very messy - but so much easier than trying to force it.
Hope you guys are going well... I'm off to stalk Delph as well
Well I for one am stoked that you’re pregnant again. It always bothers me when I hear people judging others for their choice of family size be it because they ‘think’ they decide to have one (as in I know with lots of people it’s not a decision they made so much as something forced upon them as in they CAN’T have more) or because they have what whoever the judging person decides is ‘too many’.
Emma is in my TTC thread. I think she’s been in there a few more months then I have. I’d dearly love to be joining a BB thread, but I always try to not get my hopes up too much. Mostly because it just makes it SO hard whenever you see someone pregnant or with a new little one. You’re happy for them. SO HAPPY. How coudlnt’ you be? Especially if you are friends with them. You know how fabulous it is to be a mother, and you know how wonderful if would be to have another. But SO JEALOUS too because you want so badly for that to be you and it isn’t. I was having a really hard time with it the past couple of months because of the bleeding. Mostly because it was like a slap in the face every morning that there wasn’t even a chance that I could get pregnant. Every morning I woke up and saw it, it would drain away any hope I’d have, and well, sometimes that hope is all that gets you through some days ITMS?
As for littlies. It was funny, B didn’t say a thing for AGES. As in he hardly made any noise at all, let alone say words. Then he went through a stage where he said a new word or two every week, but now it’s been well over a month, probably closer to two, since he’s come out with a new one.
Dinner time is well….lets just say I’m glad that I have three inside dogs, they make the mess cleaning up much easier. There has been more then one day where I’ve put tray, plate and child down for the dogs to clean up. HE HAS to feed himself….regardless of what it is. Which is fine with solid stuff, but when you get things like yoghurt….well, that gets a bit more ‘interesting’. And while this might not appear the case to the casual observer….he is actually getting much better at actually getting ‘most’ if it into his mouth the first try. I just keep telling myself “it all washes…at least he’s eating”
OMG, X and B are sooooo cute! I just loved reading about their teepee and tent. Wish I had space in my house for something like that!
I'd been thinking about Delph too. Let me know if you find any threads to stalk, won't you ladies? I'd try searching myself, but I have to get back to work...
OP - they ran a whole heap of tests before D&C (including preg test, JIC, which I'm not ) Since they were taking blood FS got them to take a progesterone one as well, just to see. And yes, I did O while I was bleeding. Which I know why he got the test done. I know he probably Thought he was doing the right thing. I think his theory was at least I’d know my body was working. But it was a HUGE kick in the guts to know that I missed an opportunity to get UTD. I’ve only O’d 3 or 4 times since B was born, and for one of those times to be when there was absolutely NO chance of getting pregnant….well, I kinda would have rather it not be confirmed ITMS? But onwards and upwards. Can only get better from here right?
EJ – as for the teepee in the house. It’s been both in and out. Out isn’t an issue at all, we have a HUGE yard. In….well it’s all a matter or perspective really I had a very strict upbringing. We were hardly ever allowed to play in the house, with or without toys. Without toys because if we were noisy and disturbed my father we’d get a beating. With toys because if we were noisy and disturbed my father and/or left a toy anywhere he decided a toy shouldn’t be, we’d get a beating. Consequently I’ve always grown up saying that if I ever had a child/children they’d never be afraid to play in the house. I’d probably say I am quite a bit more lenient with what I decide is acceptable because of how I was raised. For me, it’s quite acceptable for me to have the dining room table moved into the lounge room and all the lounge room rearranged with just enough room to sit at the table and eat so that B can play with his tepee (which you can only just squeeze past if you suck your belly in REAL tight) in the dining room so he doesn’t have to be outside during the middle of the day when it’s too hot and/or he can get sunburned, but he can still play with it because it’s new and fun. ITMS?
In the whole scheme of things our house is probably considered tiny. But I want B to feel like he can play and have fun whenever/wherever (within reason of course, I wouldn’t ever let him run wild IYKWIM) without having to worry about getting in trouble for doing it….something I was never able to do.

OMG OP.....YOUR PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!...I'm floored!!!!!! That is unbelievable and amazing!!!! gosh....LOL
Let me take my breath....
LOL...
Well Dr Tal stalked me so I thought I better pop in and say HI but I thought I would read some posts in the thread first and then I saw OP is pregnant and I though OMG OP is pregnant!!! Have I missed a pregnancy announcement on the forums OP or have you not released the info yet...LOL.
Anyway- just a very brief Hello as gumnut is hungry (as always)...but...just wanted to show off something in my sig....have a look....
Holy wow! You ladies have been talking up a storm!
Dr Tal - sorry to hear you've been unwell glad it seems to be sorted for you. Good luck on your TTC journey hope it's a short one
OceanPrincess - I said it in your announcemen thread but i'll say it again, congratulations
EmmaJane - Hope you get Travis' sleeping working for you soon. DD1 was a shocking sleeper, she didn't sleep through until 19months but DD2 is great... well she was great now she's ok lol the last 3 months she's been up at least twice a night with the odd sleep through maybe once a week or so.
Delphmoon - All the best for your upcoming birth! How exciting
AFU - We are expecting our 3rd and final baby. Due Feb 10.
Shay still isn't talking much, says mum, dad, daisy (the dog), tells the dog "mum on" and taps her legs or the ground so it's obviously supposed to be come on, bird, nose and her latest is "uh-oh" so cute
Blixie, is that you Jessey??? And did I just see you posting in a belly buddy thread? Have you got #3 on the way too??? I don't think I knew that? Congrats!!!
Wow, it's been quiet in here the last couple of weeks!
Dr Tal, I hope your body is back on track after the D&C. How are you feeling at the moment?
Still no word from Delph?
I hope you, B, your DH and the various animals are all happy and healthy at the moment!
OP - how are you feeling? And how are dinner times going now with little mr independence?
Jessie/Blixie - Great to see you in here again! Congratulations on your upcoming 3rd bub. I hope Shay starts sleeping through more often.
I have to say, a lot of people I know have had or are about to have their 3rd baby recently. I wonder if there's another baby boom or whether I'm just getting old and know lots of people with children now
Hi to everyone else!
AFU - I don't want to jinx things, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Travis officially self settles. WOOHOO YAY YAY YAY! We still have to get up to put his blankets back on a couple of times a night, but there is pretty much no crying when we put him to bed now. It's amazing. I'm feeling so much more human again. The sleep clinic definitely put us on the right track, and I bought Tizzie Hall's book too, which is really helping with establishing an eating and sleeping routine. I wish I'd read this one before I had Travis! I haven't felt up to reading much until recently, and what did get around to reading hadn't really been the right fit for me, but I'll be using this one for sure if we decide to try again and we're lucky enough to have a second bub.
