Ichy but don't think it's thrush

I'd say it's thrush but maybe the beginning, I'd get it checked out just in case they can take a swab and tell for sure. Also maybe be checked for worms, unfortunetly they lurke in all the wrong places, and you can easily pick them up. My girlfriend was recently treated for them, she thought she had thrush and after two treatments went to the doctor, to find out the horrifying result of worms. She described it as a buring feeling mainly on the outside, but said they're was no itchness around her bottom!
Anyway hope this helps, please get it checked out thrush is horrible if it gets really bad!!

I'd say go get it checked out. Could be a lack of lubrication issue, could be viral, could be an infection, could be bacterial. Only one way to get a conclusive answer - get a check.

One of my girlfriends who had similar symptoms was advised to use KY Jelly. Another was told she had herpes. You've probably just got something in-between. It will save a lot of sleepless nights in between! Don't guess, just get diagnosed.

I had a similar issue for months post delivery and GP suggested hydrozole cream (available over the counter but you need to ask the pharmacist as it's not kept on display). This has an anti-fungal and a mild cortisone and worked wonders. My GP said it's common for women to have thrush after delivery so best to get that checked out. Good luck!

Thanks so much for all your thoughts. To answer your queries, no it's not a stinging feeling, more of an ichiness that becomes really sore and kind of burning. It comes and goes though, but I can't work out if it's related to anything like soap or something. I didn't tear or have an episiotomy either so I can't blame it on that (though things definately got rather battered up regardless!)
It sounds like I'd better get it checked out properly but in the meantime I'll definately try the canesten or hydrozole cream. ...So many nasties that we can end up with!!

just make sure you use the vag stuff not the oral thrush tabs you can now get as they are not good while breastfeeding but the creams you use down there are fine
