When did DTD stop hurting?

Hi there

It's been almost 5 months since I gave birth to my gorgeous boy and it still hurts where I had my stitches due to tearing when dtd.
Is it the same for everyone else? I've had it checked out by my GP and she said everything looked ok down there.

i dont recall the stitches area ever hurting - maybe you shoudl get a second doc's opinion?

Are you needing more lubrication? Are you enjoying it otherwise? For me, I didn't have pain where the stitches were necessarily, but if we didn't take the time to 'warm up' properly then it'd hurt (whereas that wasn't always the case before I gave birth).
Maybe it wouldn't hurt to see another doc if everything is ok otherwise, KWIM?

We use plenty of lubrication, maybe we're not "warming up" enough.
I don't have a real interest in dtd at the moment, but I'm not sure if that's only because I have it in my head that it's going to hurt so I don't enjoy doing it?
Maybe I'll get it checked out again.

Did you massage the scar ever? Sometimes the scar can stay sort of raised and tight and tender and giving it a quick massage every day helps the area calm down (all those broken and sewn nerves can be a bit "jangly" at first). Try massaging it with lubricant or oil (no oil if you use condoms though!) for a week or two and see if it helps, if not get thee to a gyn for a second opinion.

Hang in there, these things DO resolve with time/minimal treatment in almost every case, but they can take a while. Finding TIME to "warm up" properly can be a problem for many! Best of luck.

I feel your pain!
I had a completely natural birth with no tearing. And it didnt stopping hurting without having to use artifical lubrication until about 6 months post natally.

DH and myself both thought... it is never going to be the same and even now almost 12 months on i get scared sometimes cause i remember how uncomfy it used to be - just need lots of foreplay to get it going again i discovered. (even if it takes 30 minutes of play befroe intercourse) i find DH is happy to do it as then i am much more relxed and we both have a much better time

I soooo KWYM. It has taken me over a year to get excited at the thought of dtd at all, let alone initiate it! More often than not, it was about keeping DH happy. Now though, it is more about me too. I'm not sure when exactly that happened! But it did, and things are great now. So hang in there, and hopefully things will come good sooner for you than they did for me

I'm so glad I'm not the only one in this situation. I also think not having much interest in dtd has something to do with it as well, thanks girls, hopefully things will get better with a little time!
