Wow Jen look at you, 25 weeks... time is ticking along... hows those kicks hehe... I am still not real sure, I think I feel bubs moving but it is still not definate for me. At my last antenatal appointment last tues the midwife said the placenta is anterior, at the front which makes it harder to feel the movements. I'm pretty sure I have started to feel them but it is hard to pick it from the wind. I'm having probs in that department. Belly is popping so much though that I am worrying I won't fit maternity clothes soon LOL. And there'll be no swearing either.... I tell DH not to swear everytime he mentions 9 pounder and give him a swift kick up the *** lol
Dexy I had a big laugh reading your post, you poor dear, sounds like you could do with some time out... how good are you at handball lol get DH to watch bubs while you take a couple hours out hehe... 6 weeks... wow where does the time go? I still can't believe it is almost christmas.
Dory thank for asking after me regarding the scan, thats so sweet. Hope everything is going well with Hannah's Christening today. Bless her!
So as you know, I had a scan which was over a week ago now, how slack am I? The scan went well, everything is looking fine with bubs, we had a great sonographer who put the whole scan onto DVD for us and explained everything that he was doing. The DVD is awesome and I have watched it many times already... It was most likely too early but can you believe the thought of asking the sex was completely forgotten. Silly me. But I did have a dream the other night that we are having a boy. The next day someone told me they think we are having a boy. Conincidence? Wishful thinking? I'm hoping boy, but I guess as long as bubs is healthy then that is all that matters. I'm sure I will be just as happy if we have a girl. We will be finding out on the 29/12 if bubs co-operates at the next scan. Can't wait.
Hey guys, not much happening here. Went up to maternity yesterday morning as I started to get the urge to push or bear down, felt like bub was going to fall out when I walked etc.
Turns out my pelvic ligaments might be unstable, so I now have a support bandage/tube thingy to put on, only problem is it causes me more pain while wearing it and after wearing it than I get when I don't wear it if that makes any sense lol
Anyway, this was just a quick stop to update, will try and get back on again later in the week Hope you're all doing really well
Gem - glad to hear things are going so well! And too funny that you forgot to ask about gender....... hmm a little blue bundle huh? my MIL thought Hannah was a little blue bundle too... only a little bit off the mark! The christening went really well, thankyou for asking. Hannah fell asleep, which is not what I expected at all. There were a few teary moments for me, but I expect there's going to be a lifetime of those. The hardest part for me was when DH lit Hannah's candle.... I never had candles made for Amelia, Nicholas and Sophie, but now I think I will as Hannah's is so beautiful, her brother and sisters should have one too.
Jenna - that's a bit scary sweetie - pity the band is uncomfortable and painful.... did they also tell you to rest as much as you can? Take care.
Dory that is beautiful, and what a great idea about making candles for all your bubs. Ceremonies as this one can become quite emotional and you have done well to get through, too cute about Hannah sleeping, I guess she was content with the ceremony! Wow 3 months now, time really is ticking along quick, it seems like just yesterday that I found out about our bubs and it was a short time after that Hannah was born. Here we are nearly christmas day. Is santa coming to spoil Hannah this year?
How about Taity cakes and Jaycen?
I hope you lovely ladies are doing well and are organised for christmas. Have a lovely christmas and I will be back on the 29th with all the details of our US.
Jen I hope things have settled down for you! Is it Jaycen's birthday tomorrow? Happy Birthday to your little man if I got that right
Take Care.

Oh wow Dory, I'm loving the new picture, so so gorgeous!
Just stopped by for a quick update... been feeling bubs moving around and kicking for the past couple of days but made more deffinate last night with the bigger kicks, I was trying to get DH to feel and he is unsure about it but thinks he felt it, can't wait til he can tell for sure! I just had a banana before replying to this post and bubs seems to like it, he is jumping around So it has been a pleasant surprise to a dreadful couple of days with the cold. Seem to be on the mend now though. Having a scan tomorrow and pop has offered to take the kids for the day woohoo double bonus hehe... ! Take care all, I'll be back with the news tomorrow, providing bubs co-operates.
I've been away at the In-Laws place by the beach since Christmas Eve and haven't had phone reception or internet access, got back late yesterday morning, but have been crazy buisy tying to sort out centrelink issues (I forgot to ring up last friday d'oh!) and I didn't get a payment yesterday so had to sort it all out today, so hopefully (fingers X'ed) it will be in my account this friday so I can buy some food... because we are running out of milk and andh ave no fruit left and DS has decided to develop a humungous appetite once again (I can just see another growth spurt on it's way again) and is eating everything under the sun.
Other news, still getting Braxton Hicks most of the day every day, saw the OB again today (I really like him, hubby does too, which is good) and as of this morning my BP was 120/80, Little Miss Dragonfly was doing fine, fundal height was measuring at 32wks - so only 5 weeks ahead now instead of the 6wks ahead that it was back when I was 22wks - and we are still on semi-permanent couch rest because of the braxton Hicks and I get to have another scan at 36wks to see how big Little Miss is and to check amniotic fluid levels... Dr Danso also had a chance to look at my records from DS and has deduced that DS may have become posterior while I was pushing (we thought we'd managed to turn him round the right way and face backwards before I got fully dilated) and that might explain why I had to have a c-section with him...
SO, that means...
We have now been given the go-ahead to try for a VBAC!!! YAY!!! So excited, but also a bit apprehensive as I was planning on having an active labour this time around (I had an epidural with DS and was on my back unable to move or feel my legs and stuck to monitors for the entire time I was in active labour) and i've now been told that I will be allowed to go into labour naturally as long as I don't go past 41.5-42wks because they don't want to put extra straight on my scar and want to avoid as much intervention as possible, but I will have to be monitored continuously as soon as I turn up at the hospital to make sure that Little Miss doesn't start to get stressed or anything... so no long hot showers or time in the gorgeous bath I saw in the birthing suite the other week Oh well, maybe I could get away with staying in the bath at home and *losing* track of time and end up having the homebirth I've found myself dreaming of once a week hehehe
So anyway, have the GTT test tomorrow morning at 8:30am, I'm going to really hate not having my morning coffee and plum jam on toast, but I'm sure I will survive, and then I get to do a tour of the maternity ward at 3pm on the 5th Which should be fun and then I see Dr Danso again on the 19th at 30wks...
Dory - Loving the new pic So gorgeous!
Gem - It was Jaycen's birthday on the 23rd lol he had a ball too, and thanks for remembering I hope your scan went well today!
And look at you - almost at 19wks now! Time is just flying!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that you'll all have a wonderful new year!
Hey Jen nice to hear from you! Hope you get that centrelink issue sorted and they pay you soon, maybe try hit them up for an advance payment ? ! ?
Well had the scan today and I thought I might cheat and copy in what I wrote in my BB group about it
Everything is fine with bubs although I must say I am dissapointed with the quality of the scan, everything was unclear because of the placenta being anterior. We got a copy of the scan and have tried watching it but it is hard to see much at all even though it runs for about 7 minutes. The sonographer kept moving and zooming in making it even more blurry like, it was clearer when zoomed out but he wanted to get close ups and it just wasn't working out. We asked to find out sex and the sonographer was hesitant to tell us, he has suggested girl but is only 70% sure and I am not convinced since he really struggled to find the right hand. Grr to anterior placentas, but I did mention to DH that only a girl would want her privacy LOL
Main points I am happy about from the scan today is that when the HB first came up on the screen a really big weight was lifted from my shoulders and also the fact that I felt the movement at the same time I seen the movement so now there is no doubt at all about what I am feeling.
Sonographer wants us to come back on the 10-01 for another scan just to double check bubs spine because at 18w4d it's apparently underdeveloped, they're not worried, just want to be sure before the give the all clear. Hoping we can get another look at gender then too...
Gotta keep moving, trying to get over this dam cold I've had since christmas, and organising things for DD birthday tomorrow...
Felt the need to come back in today and share my awesome moment from this morning... DH felt bubs kick!!! Not just once, but Twice! I think bubs likes Daddy snuggles because I was laying there with my hands on my belly and got no movements, then DH put his hand on my belly and got huge kicks...
Gem - that is well and truly the MOST AWESOME thing. Well done you two proud parents! How are you going .... 18 weeks now? Are you apprehensive coming up to 20 weeks?
Dexy - hello to you and Taitycakes... you must be super busy! Give the gorgeous boy a hug for me.
Jenna - caught up with you in the other thread! But wanted to say hello anyway.
Things are going well here. Hannah continues to delight and enthrall us. She is a chatterbox! Lots of tuneful vocalisations. Hannah caught a cold christmas eve and was so congested. But what a trooper she is, she managed to flash her beautiful smile around and brighten our days. DH and I have both caught something, starting from about boxing day or the day after, that has a variety of presenting symptoms - headaches, aches and pains, sore throats, upset tums. DH seems to have some congestions but I don't. I just wish it would get on it's way.... if Hannah felt this miserable whilst she was sick she was so much more gracious than DH and I are. I have to admit to feeling a bit resentful of DH - if he's not feeling well he gets to go to bed and sleep but I have to keep soldiering on so I can attend to Hannah. DH has helped, but I suppose I just wanted to whinge about how tough I am doing it and by comparison how easy he has it. Just me being on my pity potty I guess. That's just how it is huh? A mother's work is never done.
Dory your pretty spot on with your question. I am finding it a little difficult coming up to 20 weeks. I'm glad the sonographer wants to double check a few things so we can get another look at bubs on monday. Every time I try to feel bubs and can't, I start to wonder, especially after getting such kicks a week or so ago that DH could feel them, they're only little ones now. I think bubs most active time is at night, most likely while I am sleeping. I was getting a bit tight in the lower belly region today and took a little longer to sit and relax while testing out some recliners I was looking at buying. Good news is, I found a recliner to take home in the end..
I don't think I wrote in here, well I was going to but I deleted it before posting because of it being depressing in nature, but I was having a hard time of things just a couple weeks ago, it was just before I came down with this cold. My emotions were all over the place, and I was so angry at the world, and I have no idea why. I mean I had several different things that annoyed me but I don't usually feel that emotional about things and feeling it that strongly too. I kept trying to tell myself that it was all a part of the pregnancy hormones etc, but it took my strong willed and brave DH to bring me out of this horrible horrible world I was enclosing myself in.
Aww Dory I know how your feeling. You whinge as much as you like... I do lol I've had this cold since about christmas eve I think and I am getting quite tired of it. headaches, sore throat, my nose can't make up it's mind if it wants to be blocked or if it wants to run like a tap, I have gone through almost 2 boxes of tissues on my own and they're starting to feel like sandpaper, lips are dry and cracked and I am told not to use nasal spray... sorry bubs, sorry docs, but it's either nasal spray or stop breathing... which one shall it be? I try to hold off using it, but that only last so long before no-one can understand me talking with a blocked nose and croaky voice.
A mother's work is never done, but a father's work is to help and support her all the way. From your previous posts you have written Dory, I'm pretty sure your DH will help you a little more if and when you need him too, you may need to ask him. How can I put this? Simply... men can forget a womans basic needs occasionally and do need to have it spelt out to them, not because he doesn't love her any less, and not because he is being selfish but because life, in general, can cause him to forget. Having a new bubs, christenings, and with you all being sick, and christmas, new year, etc no doubt your all very tired and he might just need a gentle reminder. Go easy on yourself and your DH.
Gem - good news on the recliner.... thanks for your advice about DH too - today started out a b it rough but he stepped up and I was able to get some sleep this arvo... which hasn't helped the cold but has helped my emotional outlook. I have to remember that he has felt pretty miserable too - but in the moments when I fee90o completely miserable and he is asleep - my victim mentality seems to surface. Then later I feel so childish for feeling that way. Just one of those adjustments to being a parent.... and a warning to me not to bottle things up.
You can post here anytime, even if you're in your bleak angry moments..... better to share than to bottle it up. Glad your DH helped you through.
I got a surprise phone call yesterday - the plaques for Amelia, Nicholas and Sophie are back, which means we are now one step closer to the ceremony to interr their ashes into the memorial garden. Now we have to choose a date, and I have to decide what sort of things I would like to do to mark this special occassion. It's almost like having their funeral all over again. I also found out today that a work colleague and his wife had a baby die about a year ago, about 5 months along. Just makes me so sad. But I was not likely to know as I have not really been at work a lot in the past 18 months and we weren't that close. But my heart just aches for them and the journey I can imagine they have taken.
Dory it must be a relief to have the plaques you have been waiting for, that has been a while. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. Go gently.
I'm trying to stay positive by keeping my nose in a good book at the moment, today is 19w6d... and well tomorrow... you know how it goes. Been having trouble with the in-laws too, MIL has been creating waves by expressing her expectations/plans for bubs amongst other things. Looking forward to Monday to see bubs growing strong.
Gem - Thinking of you today..... and looking forward to your news tomorrow. It is good about the plaques.. another step in what has been a long journey. Now have to choose a date.... the intolerable decisions that this journey requires us to make. Oh well. Looking forward to some bright and cheery news tomorrow! Take care sweetie.
Hope everyone is doing well. I had my scan yesterday, bubs is doing fine, all the measurements are great and the spine is good too... Our sonographer has confirmed we are expecting a girl. I am still so surprised about that, as all this time I thought we were having a boy... I even look at the dvd thinking that I have seen a lil willy, but I am not experienced with ultrasound and must trust the sonographers opinion... I am so excited to be expecting a girl all the same, I just wouldn't be at all surprised if in the end we find out there was a mistake lol... Now the hard part... coming up with girls names. We have started on this after the last scan, but we have not really come up with much. I actually took the kids to OSHC today to give DH and I the day together before he goes back to work tomorrow. I asked the kids to talk to their friends and come up with a list of girls names I am interested to see what they come up with...
I put a photo up in my signature to share from our latest scan, I wont keep it there long as it looks strange to be eyeballed by an unborn baby lol.
Have just been waiting for DH to come back, he went out to have a hit at golf this morning, and now that he has returned we are going out to hopefuly play some 8 ball, as I said to him, it might be the last chance for quite some time... We'll have a nice lunch at the tavern and just enjoy the peace and quiet together for a few hours, we have antenatal appointment this afternoon too.
None of you are caught up in the floods in QLD are you? I have just seen some images on tv about it. OMG
Gem - I am soo so pleased for you! A little girl. Yay! Your day with DH sounds great! Hope you won at 8 ball.
Are you going to keep the names a secret from us? Did the kids come up with anything? I had a whole heap on my list that I didn't end up really liking - here are a few - Ainsley, Hilary, Susan, Olivia, Eleanor, Zoe. Some names that I have heard since Hannah was born - Molly, Eloise, Abbi.
Good luck with names - it is so hard.
Dexy - hello to you and Taity cakes - how are you going?
All ok here - very wet and we are being told to prepare for very serious flooding. We don't expect to be evacuated here. What happened in Toowoomba and surrounds yesterday was just surreal and devastating. Very scary. Maybe because of the wet will not be able to make my neurologist appointment tomorrow - will know tomorrow. I will call them now to warn them. Depends what happens overnight with the Brisbane river levels and the rain.
Dory I was hoping you were not anywhere near those floods but I was thinking that quite sometime ago you mentioned you were in queensland. I wasn't sure. I have another friend online from a different forum whom I hope is doing fine too... those pictures they are showing are quite bad. Stay safe.
As for our day together... we went to as place which didn't have an 8 ball table doh, so i played on the pokies for a short while and DH watched some soccer on tv and had a couple of beers. We didn't stay long because the machines were too hungry lol and I wasn't feeling very hungry so we decided on lunch elsewhere. I have been looking into some books lately on feelings, emotions, ways to help children understand these. There is not many places around that sell books like this, but one shop I know of is near town, so I asked DH if he would mind if we went there to have a look since we had to go to town for our antenatal appointment anyway. We ended up going to two of my favourite bookstores (what am I talking about, all bookstores are my favourite lol) anyway, I didn't find the feelings, emotions books I was looking for but I found some other books (as I always do) spent all my pocket money buying 3 books and a dvd (and DH spending money too lol) tried to watch the dvd last night but the background music put me to sleep, will have to try again. The DVD is called Infinity, it is a spiritual dvd. I got second hand copies of two other books neale donald walsh has written as I got his 3 book series of conversations with god for christmas (I have read them all a few times before as I borrowed them from the library last year) and the other book I also bought second hand, a spiritual approach to parenting. It looks really interesting and I am trying to come up with new ideas about issues with our kids.
Anyway, have probably rambled on enough lol... yes I do like my spiritual books Am going to go and change my signature picture again and check on the kids... they didn't come up with many girls names yesterday... I have written names down and crossed them off only to write them down again because I can't think of anything else lol... we had a middle name picked out but MIL wasn't happy about it, long story to that and I have kept you long enough already lol... Its far from being deffinate but possible Anna Marie... we'll see how it feels closer to the time... Did I tell you bubs foot was 3.72cm lol and yesterday at antenatal they had a handheld U/S machine to look at bubs, again she said we will have to keep an eye on gender, maybe I was seeing the cord thinking it a lil willy, but it was so cute, bubs had the hiccups...
K thats it... going now ! Take care all, especially you Dory... actually Jen is up there too isn't she? Hope your doing fine Jen. Will be waiting to here from you.
Hey guys, all good here - I'm actually in Victoria, but we've had a huge ammount of rain today as well... thankfully we live right on top of a hill as we've had warnings of flash flooding in our area too.
Gem - Another Pink Bundle!!! Congrats!
Dory - glad you're all safe!
Dexy - how are you and yours going darl? Hope everything is well.
afm - Went to the ward to get checked out yesterday morning, and everything was fine, then DS got bitten on the foot by some insect (still have no clue what it was that bit him) and his foot has swelled up to twice it's size so last night we went up to emergency and now he's on phenergen to help ease the itching thats it's causing him, and while there I started getting bad back pain again so off we went to maternity for the second time and I was put on the CTG machine, got to hear "Little Miss Dragonfly's" HB, which ranged between 140 and 147bpm. Turned out she was just being extremely active and putting pressure on my back which set off the BHs again, the little minx.
So I'm just taking it easy now, trying not to worry about my mum (she's in brissy, works in caboolture but lives in Kurwongbah - at least I think thats how it's spelt lol) last time we heard from her was the night before last when hubby called her to find out if they were ok, which thankfully they were, the water was going around them.
I'm also a bit anxious about some of the ladies in my BellyBuddies group who are up that way too, so far they are fine but it doesn't stop me from worrying about them.
Other than that nothing much is happening other than hubby being out of work, so we're doing it a bit tough financially these days but somehow surviving. Hubby has discovered a new hobby of making toy boxes so he's planning on selling some at the local markets to earn a bit of extra cash.
I just had a call from one of the midwives who I see and just found out I have gestational diabete's... the only possible symptom I've had is a bit of bloating around the belly, so it's come completely out of the blue... in a bit of shock at the moment.
