see I'm thinking that the way i will do it.. coz as most of you know we have majour spew issues here and having food after bottle mayb help to keep it down???????? mayb... i can dream cant i?
Bottle at 6am
Sleep at 8
Food from 9.30 onwards (she can take up to an hour just eating and gumming away)
Bottle at 11/11.30
Sleep
Lunch at 1.30(ish)
Bottle at 3/3.30
Dinner at 5.00 - 6.00
Bottle at 6.30
Bed
Bottle at 10.00.
eta - and I know you are supposed to give bottle before feeding solids - but she usually drops off to sleep with the 6.30pm bottle - so thats why she gets it last. Still drinks it all though.
we wake up about 7, have a BF and then have breakfast about an hour later. Lunch is usually just a piece of toast while I'm having something (or something from my plate or a piece of bread if we're out). Dinner isn't really established yet, but if she is awake she sits with us while we have dinner and eats some of our veges, or chews on a celery stick.
Can't help on the spew factor though, sorry!
so how would i do it.. atm its goes something like this for us.
Bottle 7:30am
Bed 9am
Bottle 10:30-11ish (sayin that she is still asleep now)
Sleep 12 ish
bottle 1:30pm
sleep 3pm
bath 4pm
bottle 4:30pm
Bottle 7-7:30pm
bed..
Holls, I usually give food about 30-60 minutes after a bottle, so for you, this would look something like:
Bottle 7:30
Brekkie food: 8:15ish
Bed: 9am
Lunch food either a bit before her 12am sleep (eg 11:30ish), or after that sleep and the next bottle (eg- 2:30ish)
Dinner food around 6 or 6:30pm.
Actually, going through it, your schedule is pretty much spot on as the same as mine and that is how I do it. I just find if I try to give food too soon after bottle, he's just not that into it (sounds like a movie title, right? lol) But you don't want to leave it too late until they're tired and then they just don't cope very well with food either! Argh....there is like this narrow window!
I'm not strict about lunch time (or any meal, really). I do whatever works with our schedule on the day- sometimes its before the second sleep, sometimes after. I figure he will let me know when he's ready for a more scheduled approach- he's still just playing, really.
Holly - Kye is eating 3 meals a day. He always has his solids about 30-45 minutes after he has had a bottle
As amberj said I find too if I give it to him too early when he is still 'full' from his bottle he's not that into it but same too if you leave it too long he's too tired. I've even had him fall asleep twice in his highchair while trying to feed him hahaha
awsome! thanks amber. makes much more sense to me now.
Another question.. what do i start with.. breakfast? lunch? dinner? all 3 at once????? i was thinking just breakfast for a week or so.. then introduce dinner??? see for lunch, prob wont be a big deal, fruit here and there prob as im usually out and about during the day.
This is great girls, I feel more confident now for when i eventually do start Mia on solids.
Hollye, we started with lunches, mainly because if there was a reaction we would see it (as aposed to a dinner when she would go to bed shortly afterwards)
Within a week we were doing 3 meals a day, as it was more about just giving her ttastes of foods and 'fingers' to gnaw on than actual eating
First foods were veggies and toast. these are easy to take with you.
We delayed fruit a bit just as we didnt want her prefering the sweet stuff straight away, so once she started to enjoy veggies and had her favourites, we then introduced some fruit (whcuh she now has after each meal, except breaky) and as a snack mid morning
HTH
Wow, ive never broken our day down like that before...she certainly Bfeeds alot, and she will sometimes have more, a quick snack here and there. And with dinner she normally picks at stuff over the evening, and the same with lunch during the day, take some cruskits, spaghetti, yoghurt, fruit etc and she just munches when she is hungry, no presure!
I always offer a BF before i offer solids but yesterday and today she has had a quick drink then kept pulling away and winged till i gave her solids! hope she isnt going to try and ween herself just yet...not ready for that! she will also wash dinner down with a good feed though!
we started with lunch...pretty soon she wanted some of my breakfast and then after a few weeks dinner happened aswell!!
Tried her with some blueberries yesterday...OMG she LOVED them so much!! couldnt get them in fast enough! but would suck the inside out and hand me back the skin!!!! and She LOVES rice pudding!
going to sydney tomorrow and wondering how this is all going to go down with the inlaws!!! im sure to get a few comments! lol
ok I have a question. Ashton usually has a taste of foods. The only thing he really eats is toast. The rest is chewed, some swallowed but most ends up on his lap, the floor, his hair.. you get the drift.
Yesterday I left him with my mum for 2 hours. I expressed a bottle so he wouldn't be hungry but she went and brought a jar of food and gave it to him. A full jar.
Last night he was so unsettled, whingy, crying, and at 5am he did the most horrific poo. It was gross and smelt to the high heavens.
It was an organic baby food and just vegies he has had before, but I think he might have been upset in the tummy from the amount she fed him? Is this possible since he does eat some food?
I mean he ate a whole jar which is so much more than normal And he doesn't usually carry on like he did all night. Today he was exhausted and slept heaps so I think tonight will be fun!
Because they wouldn't give her hot water at the shop and she ranted some crap about not wanting to microwave it
He will go with strict instructions to only give him his milk next Thursday. And yes to bloody microwave it.
Cause I express full time, I bought one of the warmers that has a gel in it that heats up when you snap a disc. Its called a portable bottle warmer by dex products, I couldn't have done without it!
it was frozen and taken out that morning, so by the time it got to mum it was still pretty cold. I would have prefered her to microwave it then feed him a full jar of crap.
Poor customer service to not give your mum hot water! Its not like its hard for them. Another thought is for her to take a thermos of boiling water. I understand you not wanting to feed him a jar of food but I'd hate to see your hard work expressing go to waste!
