I did this too before I got married - lost 15kgs in about 10 weeks. I then went on my honeymoon where we had the most incredible food you could possibly imagine and then had back to back pregnancies - all before I got to my goal weight and did the refeeding - so you can guess where that 15kgs is now!!

Jodi - I was going to give it another go but Mum talked me out of it. My particular diet, and I'm guessing most of them, leave you quite low on energy (you are specifically told not to exercise while on the diet) and given my PND and dealing with the girls Mum convinced me that for now at least it was a bad move. It is also pretty time consuming in that everything has to be weighed exactly - not like SS where you can just grab a shake.

If you're interested, I'm more than happy to email you my Cohens diet and the "rules" so you can see what sort of things you'd be up against before you commit to a large sum of money.

I will give it a go again in the future, but for now I think it would do me more harm than good - better if I can just find some will power and eat better, get regular exercise, get some sleep!
Being on a pension seems like a lot of money to pay out, have seen and heard good results but would like an idea of rules and things you have to eat and times etc before paying out this large sum, both hubby and myself would do it so there fore would be a lot larger outlay...thank you heaps and best of luck to all who are on it already...

Hey guys, I though I might just comment on the program seeing as though I started it 2 weeks ago to the day.
I have lost a massive 42 cms in body fat and a massive 6 kgms in only 2 weeks.
Dr Cohen originated the program for fertility reasons.
The food you are allowed is very plain (I eat plain anyways) but is very filling.
I plan on loosing 45kms by July and starting our IUI treatment again.
If anyone would like anyother info please let me know

Gizzmo! You're going fantastically honey!! Well done to you

Dr Cohen originated the program for fertility reasons.
I am a living testament to this... Before starting Cohens in Oct, I wasn't getting AF... 12 weeks after starting I found out that I am pregnant with this baby. I am now 7 weeks pregnant.

Honestly, I miss the simplicity of the food, I miss the routine of eating main meals every 5 hours and I definitely miss the thrill of watching the numbers get lower by the day. I am definitely starting again once this bub has finished breastfeeding.

    Congrats Gizzmo!

Andria, the food, from my fuzzy memory, is tuned into your body requirements (through blood tests). A meal might be something like 40g of feta cheese and xgrams of vegetables (which could be carrot, celery et al). I think you are allowed a couple of crackers a day - so maybe two rivitas a day and a couple of pieces of fruit (which are limited to certain types of fruit). I found the first few days hard with food cravings, and just missing having food in my mouth IFYKWIM - I'm a comfort eater.

You do need to have a good set of digital scales to weigh things, but like the girls have said the weight falls off you, and I highly recommend that you need to committ 100% to the program for the duration of the plan and also go through the refeeding plan. As soon as you stop the program, you stack the weight back on - so its definitely a life change program more than just a diet program.

Depending on how your diet is at the moment, you may want to consider doing something free such as calorie king to get yourself into the swing of healthy eating, then when you save the $$, head for a plan.

Andria - Perhaps you could look at one of you getting the plan, and the other following along? I know this has worked for a lot of people, my Mum included. My mum is going really well, she is actually staying here with me for a few days and she has stuck to her guns, even though I am eating off plan.
Tarkine described it very well. You get a certain amount of protein plus a certain amount of vegetables to eat as main meals 3 times a day, with 5 hours between those meals. Not all vegetables, proteins and fruits are included in the plans however as everything varies. You will find the proteins are lean proteins (lean meats, low fat cheeses, low fat yogurt etc) and the vegies are predominately green & white.
I lost 24.1kgs in 12 weeks and I truly believe it was because of the diet that I conceived this little one, as I mentioned, I wasn't getting AF before starting. I am more than willing to find the extra $750 for the next time I start... I am thinking about saving it out of the baby bonus... it will be a bonus for me & bub if I lose my excess weight

I do know that Cohen's used to offer a payment plan... perhaps you should google them and give your closest clinic a call and see what they offer in regards to paying off a plan.
