I like their philosophy of not-dieting. It's how I try to view what I am doing. For me, personally, I'm not so confident about eating what you like if you feel like it. That's pretty much how I got into this mess
I'm not a binger at all, but for years and years I was very anti diet and did not care about my weight (taking a stand against the weightloss industry and the notion that slim=beautiful, spurned on by a partner that preferred voluptuousness). Then, as I aged, weight went beyond a cosmetic issue (health issues started) and by eating what I wanted, I became morbidly obese.

I truly believe that some people cannot tolerate anything beyond a very low level of carbs. Anyone with IR, PCOS, endo, diabetes, other inflammatory issues, etc.

That said, I think you need to eat to lose weight. Starving yourself does not work at all!!!
She does touch on people with health issues ie: food intolerances and the likes too. I know I can't eat too many carbs in the form of grains as I get too hungry and light headed but then can't forego them either as I end up unable to concentrate and become cranky. There are people on the forums that have learnt (?) What they can and can't tolerate in macro terms after ETF - all through listening to their bodies and that is ultimately what I want to be able to achieve which in turn I know will, give me the best body and health I have ever been in.

I know its not a free for all but for a lot of people just starting out whom have dieted/calorie restricted /omitted food groups/certain foods or just gone absolutely crazy with binge eating constantly that they do go nuts and just eat everything but that is part of the journey and is more about the emotions associated with those eating practices and recognizing that eating for example carbs is not going to be the end of the world. From what I have read eventually once your body has healed that it will start to want/crave whole foods and that is when it all comes together. However this can take significant time depending how terrible the past Eating habits have been.

I totally get what you are saying but like Arimeh said, you do have to stay under you TDEE but over your BMR. You have to find that balance through trial and error which works for you and you only.
