I have been using the wii fit. I try to do at least 30mins a day.

I went to the Gym yesterday first time in 3weeks but DH was away and it doesn't have a babysitting place there. So I have to try and get up earlier and go or have dinner cooking and duck out whilst it cooks before it shuts.

I have been doing a sort of weight watchers diet but I have forgotten how many points I am on so its just by memory and I am not strictly point watching. Actually not at all but avoiding food that is high points and eating alot of 0point foods and 1-2points.

Day5 and I have lost 4kilos already. But I do this all the time when I start a diet the weight falls of for the first week and then it doesn't budge after then. Guess its fluid. And I have been limiting my computer time as I use it alot and blame it on my weight gain. Trying to be more active around the house etc.

I need to drink more water also which I haven't done yet. Chips, lollies, cookies and cakes have been replaced with yogurt, diet soup, weight watchers jelly and fruit. Main meals are now consisting of alot of vegies and no sauces or cream dishes.

Ok so I got a question about the measurement of the hips - I've never been sure as to whether you measure where your love handles are (or my love "cushions" as they are more than just handles) or where it sorta goes in, like where the c-section cut would be (obviously not THERE, but in the middle of that area.. LOL)

    Help please?

Oh and I just weighed myself on the wii - it got up me cos I put on 5kg since last time.. ROFL

ETA: Oh and can my DH join in? He's a member here too.

Hi Mel. I measure where the top of my hipster undies sit. But I think wherever is fine as long as you are consistent. And of course your DH can join.

I ended up measuring the widest part of my love "cushions".. cos where my hipsters sit is on the skinniest part of my hips, and that probably defeats the purpose.. LOL

Ooooh boy they're shocking. I'm embarrassed to PM them to you Krys... I can imagine you shaking your head and saying "oh mel... how could you let yourself go like that"... lol.. I'm much fatter than I was when you last saw me!!!

Don't worry about it Mel. I honestly don't even really think about it. I just get the numbers and automatically input them into my spreadsheet. And I am certainly not in any position to judge as I know exactly how easy it is to put on weight and how hard it is to lose.

    Hi everyone

I would love to join in. I would like to lose 10kg but 5kg would be a good start. I would like to lose that before I do my next IVF cycle in May/June. I have signed up for calorie king and between that and walking/going to the gym I hope I can stay motivated to get there. I lost about 4kg before Christmas but then I injured myself and I've put it all back on again :-(

Krys thanks for organising this! I will PM you my measurements tomorrow!

been thinking about my plan of attack, will be trying to eat healthier and not snacking on junk, have signed up for the Wii Fit comp and I also take the dog for a walk with DD in the pram for at least 45 mins - 1 hour every morning. If I remember (and can be bothered..lol) will be doing some sit ups every night before bed. I started that once before, made it to night 2 and my tummy muscles were so sore and after that I think I forgot

I know I would never be able to 'diet' as such because I can't help eating chocolate and the odd bit of other junk food/soft drink, but chocolate is my main weakness! So it really needs to be about a lifestyle change and eating healthier all the time.

Ok my measurements are in. It took so long for me to find a tape measure!! lol.

I am planning on going to the gym 4 nights a week - so I'll do Zumba one night, 1/2 hr weights 1/2 hour treadmill on the other two days and then Fridays I do my 1.5 hr Yoga class, and will hopefully do a bit of yoga thru the week too.

Food wise: Just cutting out all the crap -no more chocolate bar everyday no more junk food and take-away, cutting back on how much juice I drink (sneaky calories, I have one almost everyday) upping my water intake, more vege, more fruit, more good grains. Will let myself have something naughty on Sundays tho, that will be my 'fat day'

    Yay! I'm excited!

We've got one of those trailers Maz. The kids love it. They call it the red bus lol. If I say to Nate, "do you want to go in the bus?" he goes and stands at the door to the garage.

Sibbie I'll be up there with you on the choccie-a-day cravings - We can do it! We can do it! We can do it!

At the mo, we're stuck in a tiny little temporary apartment with none of 'our stuff' for three months so DH let my buy a Wii yesterday after I told him about how all of you raved about it ( sad I know...).
We had a ball on it last night! We got the EA Active as well....man that's a good owrkout!

Re: Month one: Mid-2010 weight loss challenge

Just sent in my measurements too.

Maz, I have been bugging DH about getting a bike trailer. I think he wants to avoid it so he doesn't have to cycle lol

My plan is to increase my exercise by walking at least 45 minutes every day or hop on cross trainer if it's raining. I want to go back to my Pilates class but just have to work out best time around the kids & DH. I do have a pilates DVD so will at least do that once a week.

Just sent my measurements. But I couldn't get the same measurements twice so I don't think it's going to be a very accurate for me LOL. And my weight is on the scales here at home... but I think I'd prefer to use my weight from the gym scales on a mon night.

I'm just going to try and cut down my snacking on crap. My problem is I don't just dunk 1 or 2 biscuits in my tea.. i sit there with the tin and eat half a dozen or more LOL. Butter and chocolate are my other weaknesses. So I'm just going to try and cut right back and include more fruits and things as my snacks. I'll try and drink more water, and we are going to the gym hopefully 3 times a week. I'm going back on my TCM herbs soon and he doesn't want me eating greasy fatty foods either so that'll help motivation-wise too.

My plan of attack is the whole lot, just slowly.

I will be aiming to do 30mins on the Wii everyday, as well as building to 2 x 10mins on the cross trainer (until i am fit enough to do more, i was advised this is better for improving metabolism). XT can be subbed for a walk with DH before dinner (also good for metabolism).

I need to start eating better - i am going to aim on sticking to breakfast again and over time make it the biggest meal of my day. I will be buying more fruit for snacking and some almonds as i know how good they are snack wise. I need to make my dinner portions smaller, drink water beforehand and stop at 1 glass of coke (instead of the whole bottle).

I also need to get back into drinking water. I dont often get thirsty anymore, but i am going to drink when i feel hungry as thirst often feels like hunger!

At my last job i was losing weight effectively because i was on my feet 8hrs a day, i was downing 3L of water just at work because of the sweat you would work up... i was just eating crap. So now I have put back on 7kg and am shattered i am back over the magic 100, crap

Just got to get to finding my tape measure.
