Hi all,
This is my first post. My GCT result has come back at 8.9, OB wants GTT done now. For anyone who hasn't already taken the GCT (which is unlikely in this forum) take note that my OB secretary told me for the first test that it didn't matter what I ate before hand. Having suffered Hyperemisis (spelling?!) and only having stopped vomitting 4 weeks ago (I'm now 31 weeks) I have found relief from nausea in chocolate bars, hot chocolate, sweet food. Soooooo, before my 12.30 test I had eaten Sultana Bran for breakfast, then a Twirl bar and 2 chocolate teddy bear biscuits at 11 o'clock. The guy taking my blood said "You ate what?!" He carrried on about how it will affect the result. Oh would have been good if someone had told me! I know it sounds dumb but that is why I asked if it mattered what I ate! So now I am stressing big time about having to fast all night and then not eating in the morning, that is the only way I don't vomit etc! I guess the other problem is being scared that I will test high and not be able to continue my horrid eating habits and end up vomiting etc again because of a specific diet. Can anyone tell me if 8.9 is likely to lead to GB? Tough question I know especially seeings I had all that choc. before the test! OB secretary tells me all I have to do this time is fast from midnight, show up early and do as they say. I had read that a three day diet of lots of carbs prior to GTT is meant to occur. My OB is too busy to talk to me!GRrrr. Hope you guys can help.... sorry for sounding like a moaning pregnant women, but that's what I am I guess. My first bub I had a GCT reading of 7 and had eaten an apple and cinnamon muffin about an hour before, unbeknowns to me that it could have raised the result too! But 7 was fine and nothing more happened back then. Fingers crossed that I can even make it through the test without vomitting the drink up.... I guess then it won't be valid and it will all have to be done again another day! Anyone seen The Pursuit of Happyness? That is my life.... just one thing after another with this preg.
