I wouldn't have known that this is normal practice, as I too had stitches for 2nd degree tear at my hospital birth, so they were already down there.

Surely they checked and knew you were torn before doing stitches though.

Hoti- do you mean that your MW never checks if/how much you have torn? How do you decide on a treatment plan without checking? I'm not trying to sound facetious either. It's a genuine question
