While on the pill I was sitting on 68kg. When I stopped, I sort of exploded up to 70, which gradually crawled up to 73kg at the absolute worst. That was the point I started metformin, and with a low-carb, low-GI diet I managed to come back down to 68kg fairly quickly. Three days of the high-carb, pre-GTT diet gained me an extra kg very quickly. The dose increase brought me back down to 68kg, and the aim is to get back to 65kg - which is where I was before my arthritis needed to be treated with prednisone.
That said, it's not metformin alone that causes the weight loss, it does make it easier if you are insulin resistant, but you do need to watch your diet and exercise to get full advantage from it.
