I've always gotten smells my whole life...I have a couple i know who they are...a couple i don't...
I get emotions mainly...if i start in a certain area i can feel what others did feel, if that makes sense.
and the dreams, I get the dreams about things that haven't happened yet, or are happening by i dont realise it til i wake up and its too late.. (like my dream a building burnt down, only to find out the next day my parents house was on fire)
Thread whore.. that's funny Maz!
I think I am the same before/after kids.
I'll try hard not to I promise.
Let's see what happened today that is out of the norm for some but 'normal' for me.
Went for my normal thursday picnic in the park and on the way I had a crow follow me...hmmmm
Thought as I crossed one of the streets to get home that I bet mum and dad have been...love and behold mum and dad were pulling out of my driveway.
My house was hot as an oven...but the heater was off. The lounge room fan was on hi and all the pillow had been thrown of the lounge (i have alot of pillows).
Clean it all up and the house got freezing....screamed out to rack off and go homeand a black dog ran through from the hall way, through the kitchen and vanished just before my front door.
Was all quiet for a few hours and then drove to pick up my boys from school. Went to coles on the way and had the hairs on the back of my neck stand up but saw nothing.
Stopped at the traffic lights at the school to have a hertz (sp??) drive past, casket in back and a lovely elderly lady sitting up i gather because I could only see her torso on top of the coffin looking quiet the unimpressed queen.
J man bought home our new bookshelf tonight and the books have already been messed up and a few have been 'tossed' onto the floor. Quiet obviously someone doesnt like harry potter or diary of a whimy kid books
and the night isnt finished yet.....
I often dream things before they actually happen. And they're never nice thingsI think the worst was the passing of a child who was related to one of my best friends. I dont understand why i dream about the awful things if i cant do anything to change them? Whats the point in having that knowledge? The dream is always different to 'normal' dreams. I cant really explain how, but they're different.
There is an old lady perfume smell in a corner of my bedroom that i can smell sometimes, seems to be more around 6-7pm.
I have the same true dream experience most here describe - the de ja vu effect when the dream comes true. Most things are very mundane though - like a conversation etc.
I connect emotionally with people all the time, and can tell when someone is about to call or visit me, or when I will run into them (my DH gets spooked out by that one..."I think we'll see so and so today" and he's like, "who, from like 10 years ago?" and then we see them...weird).
I am trying to connect more with spirits, but that is more my parents specialty...both have had encounters with people who have passed.
Interesting thread. I would love to see more, but I think I feel things instead itms?
I just thought of one (while putting on a load of washing!) that wasn't a bad one! I used to have a recurring dream as a child that there was a house built at the back of Dreamworld where people lived and i was the only one who could see it... Big Brother??
Heres a story for you... My Pa passed away when i was 5 and my sister was 3. She doesn't really remember him. My dad used to be an interstate truck driver and one night when my sister was about 16, she had a dream about my Pa and he was saying to her over and over "Wake your dad up, wake your dad up, wake your dad up". It really freaked her out and she woke up in fright at about 3 in the morning. She called my dad, who answered the truck phone and told him about her dream. He told her not to be silly and that he was fine, to go back to sleep and he'd talk to her tomorrow.
A few years ago, my dad came clean and said that he'd been asleep at the wheel when she called him. The phone call had woken him up. He'd driven staright through the middle of a town at 3am asleep at the wheel of the truck.
It freaked him out so much that he hadn't been able to tell us the truth. He never believed in anything like that before, but he certainly does now!
These are AMAZING!!!!! My dad had a gift, maybe it runs in the family?
Im loving reading your stories ladiesDont be shy, spill!!!!!
Maz- I must admit I had a scary feeling from the post I read from you last night, the lost soldier. Woke to Lucy crying and it took me a little while to come out from under the blanket (like that'll save me) to go to her lol......
Ok, well if you want a story, here is one of my dads.
About 20 years ago dad bought a block of land in rural Victoria. It turned out it was ancestral land for him...and it was granted to his great great great grandfather in the 1850. That was weird in itself.
Anyway, there was a creek that ran through it with an usual name. As kids we loved swimming in the creek, but it could be very wild after a storm and at snow melt. There were all sorts of goldmining things down there from the gold rush too and it felt a bit spooky at times.
So, one day dad was mowing down by the creek and he saw a little girl in a red coat, about 6 or 7 years old (it was private land on both sides, and the other people didn't have a little girl). He called out to us, but we couldn't see her, and then she was gone. He said he saw her a few times after that. Always in a red coat and always by the creek. He always looked spooked after he'd seen her.
Fast forward about ten years, and we had sold the land and moved away. Dad is a GP and he had a patient in one day with an unsual name, so he asked them if they knew about the creek that had the same name etc. They said they did, and that their ancestors settled around there too etc. So dad went digging around this family, because they probably knew his family etc, and what do you know, a little girl from that family was drowned in the creek during that period. She was about 6 or 7. So sad.
It still spooks me to think of that story, because if you'd met my dad, you would realise he isn't scared easily...but that spooked him.
ETA: and at the risk of being a thread-whore () he used to see spirits down the back garden too, and one time he came tearing inside and scared all of us, because he was still shaking.
And I haven't even started on mum's experiences...
I've had a few instances in the form of dreams where I've dreamed people were pregnant and generally with in a year it happens.
Another one was several months before the first swine flu outbreak I had a dream that there was some sort of epidemic going around the world and people were dying. It wasn't a nice dream to have at all.
I usually get the deja vu thing too. Something will happen and I will have this overwhelming feeling that I've been in situation before and so I know I have dreamt it in the past. I often think I should keep a dream journal to match all these up but I never get around to it. I have seen a couple of spirits and they were all before kids. In the first house I lived in upon moving out of home, there was a woman and a young child (a boy I think, was never really sure). They used to just be hanging out in my bedroom. I woke up one night, sat straight up in bed and said hello to the child and my exDH rolled over and asked who I was talking to. The other time was after my exFIL passed away. He was hanging around for the week after his death while the family did the daily prayers (rosary) and on the last day we did them with all the doors and windows open so he could fly free.
Since then I haven't really seen anything. I had told my ex-inlaws about it and they were always asking me if I could see him and I just felt a bit uncomfortable about it so kinda tuned it out I guess. Now I sometimes catch glimpses of things and DS points to a particular spot in the house and says "Man!" or "Who's that?" He actually did that this afternoon but kinda seemed a bit anxious and came over to me. I told him to say "Go away" if he didn't want them there. I think I purposely tune most of it out because while I think it's kinda cool to be able to see, I'm also a little bit scared of what/who I might see!
I had a short reading done by email recently and the lady who did it was so accurate with some things, it really surprised me.
maz, your stories have the hairs on my neck standing up!
Loving this thread!
So last night I turned on the vapouriser in our room and as I did I had an image of a pillow on it. It was weired and I made sure I moved it further away from the bed. Then in the middle of the night I woke with a start. And sat up...dh's pillow had just fallen on the vapouriser! I woke him and he hadn't noticed!
This has happened with dd in the bed with us too. I have an image of covers going over her head then I wake just as dh rolls over and kinda covers her. I call it my sixth sense rather than visions though.
I would love to connect with a friend who has passed. I feel her everywhere, but haven't seen her. I have visions in my mind of her, but haven't seen her itms?
Wow what an interesting thread.
As a child I saw people a couple of times in my (then) house. The first time was really clear; a young girl, maybe 4 or 5 years old, wearing a purple skirt with pink polka dots and I think a white top? She had blonde hair and was in the middle of my brothers bedroom (he was 3 or 4 years old at the time). I asked if he could see "that" and he nodded his head. We were both really freaked out. That part of the house was always really cold and felt very negative too. Sometimes it spread to the loungeroom.
For some reason writing this is making me cry. Not sure why?
A couple of times, same house, I saw shadows in my bedroom. I talked to one once but nothing happened, gave me bad feelings though. This one made me tear up again.
Mum always felt things were going missing in the house too, I used to tell her she was being silly and she must have misplaced them but I always had a feeling she should look in the roof? This one made me tear up again too.
Often when sleeping in mum's bed I'd wake her up to tell her I could smell smoke (like from a fire). She never could.
And once I could smell, I'm not sure exactly what material it was but I *knew* it was the smell of broken building materials like a building had collapsed. Though I've never been near a collapsed building. Whenever I see something on tv or read about a collapsed building I instantly remember that smell. Even now it's coming back to me. After the twin towers collapse it hung around for ages- not sure if I was just remembering it or could actually smell it.
In this house I have seen a girl- teenage- she was standing looking at me in bed. I went to sleep but could still feel her there as I was drifting off. Sometimes now I feel she's in the room but haven't seen her again. Writing this one didn't make me cry, wonder why? This was while I was pregnant, do you think you are more open to this kind of thing while pregnant, I know children seem to be more open to it, maybe it's you channeling (is that the right word) the feelings/ images/ smells/ etc from the baby in your tum?
I occasionally get a sudden really bad feeling when we're driving somewhere. I always mention it, as yet nothings happened but maybe that's *because* I mention it?
Sorry this is so jumbled (and long) I just wrote it as it came to me. I have this feeling there's more but no more thoughts/ words are coming out so I'll just leave it for now.
I would love for someone to do a reading for me if anyones interested.
Also sorry for dragging up an old thread but I only just found it![]()
Eeeek why do I read things like this when I'm all on my lonesome!
Maz - you seriously give me goosebumps! SO interesting though.
I've had a few dreams that ended up playing out in real life a couple of weeks later. Wasn't anything too exciting but did happen exactly like I dreamed it.
Sometimes I just have a feeling about something that ends up being right. Can't think of anything specific right now though!
i smelt my nana after she had passed, it was at DD1s birthday party. and a few other times also. she passed just over a year ago and i havent smelt her since. its wierd because i cant even remember or describe the smell but i knew it smelt like nana. sometimes i hope i smell it again.
i have always had 'feelings' that i havent been alone, even as a kid. i got really freaked out and still do. i dont really know if it was anything or just in my imagination. i have had such a bad feeling from certain rooms that i havent even gone near them.
thats about it for me. i think if i ever had any ability i freaked myself out too much to do anything about it.
maz, i really enjoy reading your posts! :-)
