Way to go Kyla!!!! They do grow up so quickly
Yeah Carrie I do Puree Willow's Vegies, But not having much luck at all getting her to eat them. I never had this much problems getting Kayla or Liam to eat them.
Sorry you're not having any luck Raven - If you're sure they're not too thick the only thing i can suggest is try a bit each day and hope that she gets used to them... sorry i'm not much help!
going by her corrected age she is still in the early days of introducing solids so don't worry too much - does she like fingers foods and feeding herself - there are lots of BB info on solids in forums and main page.
My little guy Joel got his hip (pavlik) harness off today after 8 weeks and he was so happy he squealed happily all the way home in the car.The first 4 weeks it didn't come off at all even for baths (onyl sponge bath allowed) then it was 2-3 times a week just for bath.Due to being breech and premature his hips didn't develop properly but so happy they are on the mend.Need another xray/specialist review in March (should be Feb but no clinic then at kids hosp) so hope he does it himself an doesn't need a different brace the Dr said.
We had along wait today though (3hrs) with two xrays - because they didn't do it way Dr wanted the first time  - my poor little guy being over radiated ... had chest xrays/mcu/two hip xrays and more to come. But did you know they cover his boybits with a little oval thingo I think it must protect them ?.
He also has urinary reflux (severe grade 4/5) which means long term antibiotics and a few more tests renal u/s (tomorrow) and a radioactive injection to check his kidney function (for scarring/damage) after he had a UTI.Hopefully no surgery at this stage and pray he grows out of it.
Twin Sam had a mcu (catheter & contrast dye into bladder)today to check he doesn't have it - didn't so we are so relieved -they check siblings to make sure as more common.
My other update is Joel has started to BF after 5 months -about twice a day still getting a routine feeding two of them rather than expessing. After 3 weeks almost in SCN with alternate ng tube/bottle (first 3 days only in NICU) he preferred teats to (.)
Both are growing well - Joel still smaller - have to take him to find his length now after 2 months of not knowing.
The other day we met up again with gorgeous Tiff, adorable Ivy (still had a smile though unwell) and spunky Noah - gee they have come a long way (I first met them IRL when not long home from hospital). They are just the cutest bubbas (next to mine of course).
Tiff -you should be so proud of your littlest blessings - infact all her lovely children do her proud. The little mini mums are the sweetest girls and a bundle of fun.

Oh Trish!!!!
That is such fantastic news that little Joel has his harness off!!!!!! You must feel so good and so must he! What a great Chrissy present!
Sad to hear that Joel's reflux is bad, glad to hear that Sammy doesn't have it
I will keep everything crossed now that Joel doesn't need a brace and doesn't need any surgery for the reflux.
Ivy is alot better now, although turns out she was allergic to Erythromycin. Now she is on long term Amoxil until we see the ENT so hopefully we will be middle ear infection free over the Summer.
Oh Trish, My girls love you too. They say you are just the nicest person they have ever met. Especially, Immy.
Mitch, sorry I have not really got any suggestions for you but I can commiserate. Ivy likes to burn the candle at both ends and it is exhausting.
I don't really have any big milestones at the moment. I was kind of hoping that Ivy would be walking by Christmas but every time she gets sick she seems to go backwards. Noah IS pulling himself up on the furniture now though and they can both clap. I am trying to teach them to blow kisses.
No real big milestones here either, we are just plodding along. Ashton is 4.5kg now and boy do I feel that extra weight when holding him to feed him, specially at the 2am shift LOL. It sounds like he might be starting to try to laugh which is very cute, but still not really a very smiley baby takes forever to get one out of him lol.
Well must dash as the other two are raiding my chocolate stash, and Lachlan decided to ring daddy at work on my mobile phone this morning before I was even awake. He apparently said Hello, dribbled stuff in his own language, said seeya and hung up. I got a txt msg from Andrew about 10 mins later which woke me up.
Trish, that great the boys are getting bigger and better... they are just too gorgeous, you're lucky to have double delight!!! (as are you Tiff )
Yay on Noah's weight tiff, thats so big!! And i wouldnt stress bout the walking , the longer it takes, the longer they're your little bubbas... And declan was term (37w) and he didnt walk until 16 months...
Well, anneliese has started crawling!! She's only just started rolling in the last week, and holding her head and legs up while she's on tummy time (the "skydiver!") and although she's laying on her arms, not her hands, she propels herself along by her feet!! Yesterday she's moved about 2m before i noticed... its so funny, as the boys were between 8-11 months before they started, so much bigger, and my little 5kg princess is propelling herself around the place!! Going to try solids again this week, most of the time her tongue reflex just pushes it back out, and she's just not interested. So every few days i just try again...
Not much action in here lately - hope everyone is doing well and had a good christmas and new year. If you're anything like us you had a hyper child who was way too over-stimulated from all the action, parties and people and who we're still trying to settle back into a routine!
Other than that Kyla's doing good. Crawling on all fours finally and very chatty!
Well done Kyla.....YAY
Yes know the feeling trying to get the kids back into a routine. Willow is good no big changes good or bad. Hope everyone had a happy and safe xmas and new year.
Anneliese has just started solids, going very slowly as she's not too impressed. She's rolling back and forward now, and has the most beautiful smile...
what is she trying, rice cerial? Nixon wa sa bit unsure to begin with, now you practically cannot eat in front of him cause he wants it!
Just got the referal for Nixon's follow up hearing test. i have to make a booking, has anyone else had follow up hearing tests?
he is having it because he fell under a few of the risk factors
1. Premmie
2. spent more that 48hrs in NICU
3. Spend more then 48hrs under Phototherapy
4. Father born with hearing loss
but i am sure he will pass easily. He can definatley hear. only thing i am worried about is if he hears well in one ear but not the other.
We got a letter saying she had to go in for one too, But the Geelong hospital stuffed me around with appointment days and times so we didn't go in.But we have notced that Willows hearing is fine. Really I think they just like to get all there paperwork done thats why they wanted us to take her in.
Raven- Glad to hear that you are all good and had a great christmas! Simone- Prems can sometimes be a bit difficult with solids! Kyla was! She NEVER liked the rice cereal but liked pumpkin with a bit or marjarine. That's great to hear that she's rolling, I bet she's really enjoying a bit more freedom to do things. Nickers- Hi there! Hope the hearing test goes well. Kyla has had four tests - the first due to her prematurity. Her hearing is okay but she has blocked ears that have to be checked - the only issue is that she can't hear the really high and low frequency sounds. Her speech seems to be fine so far though!
Hey Carrie. long time no speak! I love your ticker pic, Kyla seems to have grown from a baby to a little girl in no time. Hey wanted to say thanks again that rattle that you bought Nixon he loves it! Still plays with it all the time its great.
Anneliese likes mango (which i thicken up with some rice cereal) and is a little unsure of banana. have made some other fruits for her (plums, banana, mango, apple) and a vege mix, as they all needed to be used. I just chop, puree and freeze in ice cube trays then transfer to containers. They keep for a while (also great for on hot days - i add to milk and blend!! smoothies!!
Anneliese is still tiny, still in some 0000's, in some 000's now. She's such a happy little princess...
Currently writing out my birth story and about my time in NICU/SCN for austprem... they're making a book (cant remember why) but it would be nice to let other people know there's light at the end of the tunnel (doesnt seem like it when you're in hossy!!) Im thinking of taking Anneliese back to the nursery's at RWH, i'd really like ot see the nurses again and show my Miss off... anyone done this?? do i call first?? I also have scrapbooked a couple of pages to put up on the "Wall" which i would like to deliver...
Carrie - great to see you back in here and that Kyla is going very well. It's nice to see them finally take off, isn't it?
Nic, LOVE the ticker pic!!! You little man is A*D*O*R*A*B*L*E!!!!!
Well, not much is happening here. Ivy and Noah are cruising the furniture and definately keeping me on my toes! I'm sure I wasn't as exhausted as this ten years ago when I did it the first time around! Chrissy was good and school hols are on at the moment so I am well and truly out numbered! LOL. I am going back to work at the end of this month and am not looking forward to it at all * GULP*
Simone, We have gone back heaps of times to the NICU because we have been in a study. It's weird but kind of comforting seeing one nurse in particular (who was also involved in William's care) and the doctor who was there at the twins' birth.
I'd call first and find out when some of your favourite nurses are on. There is nothing worse than turning up and nobody remembering who you are because they weren't rostered on when Anneliese was in. Let us know how you go, won't you?
