Bek - I was feeling the same way a few months ago. But trust me, the lack of sleep lately has changed my mind in a big way!! I don't think I've got another one in me to be honest
Kelly - Cars and kids don't mix huh?! That flashing blue light sounds very annoying!! I thought I broke my toes (again, did it about 18 months ago) too!! Did it the night before D's christening (so last weekend) and had to take some panadeine to go to sleep that night.Thankfully they are just seriously bruised. Still sore though which will be interesting when I attempt my first gym session on Wednesday
Mako - How did you go today babe?
Freya - Ditto - how was your orientation?? How's Stellan?
Better go. Have a 'meet the teacher' night at DDs school tonight but will try to pop back on later. I can actually do that now that D isn't sleeping in our room where the computer its

Kel I think the little annoying things feel worse than huge things at times lol. Blue flashing light would drive me nuts too. Wow what a scare you guys had too
Willow Good on you for getting out and doing something for yourself. I bet the boys had a great time at the creche.
Sorry I haven't replied to your FB message yet. Just haven't had the time to sit and type for any longer than a couple of minutes the past few days. I'll do it tonight once Sage goes to bed as DH is at basketball and when he gets home he's going fishing. I tell ya what this bloke has the best life
As for me well I nearly cried today. DR S told me to call the pathology place to make an appointment for this test so I rang last Friday and the lady I spoke to just told me I had to come in between Monday and Thursday before 11am.So I arrived at 10:20 this morning to be told I need to make an appointment on a Tuesday or Thursday only. I explained that I called and said what I was told by the lady on Friday. She rang someone else who I had to talk to and re explain everything and I added it had taken me 2.5 hours to drive there today and I wasn't going home until they'd taken my blood as I'd followed all instructions that I was given. Well the lady on the phone was so rude and abrupt but finally gave the go ahead for me to have the test done but told me next time they would make me come back on a day that they tell me. I was so embarassed and angry that some stupid woman on the phone stuffed up and gave me the wrong information and then was told off by someone else in a packed waiting room
I just hope I never ever have to step foot in that place ever again. Luckily DS was very well behaved and travelled soooo well.
Mako - Dr S will be mortified if you tell him what happened!! I'm glad they ended up doing it for you. How hard is it to take blood?? I know this is not your average blood test but still! Man, your DH does have the best life...actually, just the best WIFE
Well D is doing OK in his own room. Is doing fine during the day and last night we had a 5 hour stretch of sleep - haven't had that for about 6 weeks. BUT I was up between 1am and 2am settling This too shall pass...right?!
Meet the Teacher night was interesting...the stuff these kids do in kindy makes the mind boggle!
Willow You are doing a fantastic job with D and his sleep. That is a great effort last night and yes the hour settling will pass. It just takes a little bit of time and him getting used to what has to happen
So what has V been up to at school? Is her teacher nice? Is it the one you went to school with? Sorry way too many ?'s for you lol.
Oh and not too sure about the best wife lol. He's just lucky I really like eating fish
Thats what I thought about the blood test too but do understand its not JUST a simple test kwim. Just annoyed the cr*p outta me at the time. I wouldn't have minded too much if it was only a 5 min drive away but when its much further than that thats what annoyed me. Anyway I just hope it all comes back ok.
i'm lurking and reading just not posting much. Im just busy busy busy trying to get things sorted at home. I just have to go and buy a few bits and pieces, get a car seat and clean my tupperware cupboard and i think im right after that.
Can anyone remember having metal mouth late in pg?? i have it and am not pleased about it!!
Willow - how scary about DS, we had a similar incident but i thought DD was behind the car when in fact she was inside, but still it took about 5 years off my life. Glad all is well though and on joining the gym. I cant wait to get back there after bubs.
Oh Mako - I would have been outraged! Thank goodness some common sense prevailed and they took the bloods, now for some good results
Bek - i havent taken many belly shots, and I dont want to put them on FB but if you PM me your email addy ill happily send you one!
Janie - how are you feeling?? I thought I was having prelabour last week but it all seems to have settled down now. Im just about to start taking the EPO.
Jayne - your such a good mummy baking and cooking for your girls!! How long til China??
Freya - how are things with the boys?? how was orientation day??
Spring - how you going with the two little boys?? Im getting nervous about having 2!!
A big cheerio to all those I have missed - will try to BBL later
I'm a bit of a lurker atm, just having way too many vague moments, thats what running around after 4 kiddies will do to a woman's thinking!!!
Lisa - my gosh, not long to go, hope you get to finish your nesting before the bundle arrives!
Janie - how you doing hon, your bub is doing great to stay put, hope he/she keeps it that way just a bit longer!
Mako - when do you get your results, what a pita some people and procedures can be.
Spring - thanks for pacing with me today
Freya - it never rains, it pours, great timing for injuries this week NOT! Other than that how the heck is UNI ?????
Willow - don't even go there thinking about the 'what ifs" it'll do your head it, just be mightily thankful you saved the situation.
Jayne - can you pop over to Hobart and do some baking for my kids lunchboxes, I'm not really a baker, so they have treats from the local bakery (as does mummy )
Deb - how are you hon, whats happening with your moving plans?
Kelly - hope your toe heals quickly, and you are hanging in there okay.
Jo - very happy for you hon that your bub is doing so well! Will you find out the gender?? If yes, will you share???????? Hang in there too over the next couple of weeks xo
Hi to everyone else
AFM - just so darn busy, Flynn is crying as I type - he is Mr Catnap in the day, but the other night slept 8 hours (the most so far), usually more like 5-6 straight - so guess I can't have it both ways, but makes for a LOOONNNNGGGGG day iykwim. Am feeling a bit flat, but trying to keep it under wraps, think I'm in need of some ME time, not going to happen DH is away all next week, oh joy........
Hello! I've been reading but DH is away again and we've been really busy, so haven't had a chance to take it all in and post.. will attempt to catch up....
Michelle - Are you in a better mood yet?? Hope you got the kids to bed easily... we're having some frustrating days atm too and all I seem to do is get grumpy and yell.. not much fun.
Lee - Hope you continue to get some sleep at night... makes the long days that tiny bit easier to deal with.
Lisa - Still nesting hey??? Not long to go now!!
Mako - How frustrating.. I would not have been happy either and am glad to hear you stood your ground and made them do the blood test.. it's not your fault they told you the wrong information! Hope you get some answers.
Willow - hows the sleep going?? Hope last night was a better one!! Oh man.. my poor little toe is still pretty sore too.. very annoying!!
Bek - Hope you managed to get a bit more sleep..
Spring - Still waiting to hear the dummy story????
Janie - Thanks for thinking of me!! How are you going?? Hope the CTG goes well tomorrow!! Provided it does and all is fine.. I'm still keen to catch up Thursday avo.. so I'll give you a call tomorrow avo! Let me know if you need anything too.. I'm happy to pop past the shops for you on the way over!!
Jayne - Hows Jessica going?? Bet she LOVED all the yummy food you baked!!!
Freya - How's uni going??
Big hello's to everyone else.
AFM - I'm still feeling really flat but managing to snap out of it when we're out and about, so that's good. I'm sooo over renting though, so many problems and the damn blue alarm light is still flashing out the front of our house. I finally got hold of someone myself to come and fix it.. but they can't get here until tomorrow and I've told the agent I'm sending them the bill!! So frustrating. DH is still away too and we don't have a dishwasher.. not to mention that we keep getting wasps flying in the back door (because there's no bloody flyscreen). So dangerous.. yesterday we had 4 wasps flying around and one of them was in Luke's playroom flying over his head!!! Its so frustrating becuase we need the door open to have the air con on. Oh man... there's so many other things too but I won't bore you with any more of the details!!
On a brighter note, some good friends are coming over to visit us on Friday night.. sooo exciting, its our first visitors coming to see our new home!!! Only problem is, it's my friend who's pg (only 4 weeks ahead of what I would be).. so that's a bit hard but I'm determined to be strong and not let it get to me. They are really great friends and I want to be happy for them!!
OK.. enough from me.. sorry for the long post, it's hard being here alone.. hate it when DH is away!
Hey Kelly, I would have called you earlier if I'd realised you were alone! I will let you know what the go is for Thursday after I see Max tomorrow. I will possibly be having steroids tomorrow, and if I do I'll be going back in for another dose on Thursday, don't know what time yet. But yeah, I'll let you know! Hope you're not too lonely tonight.......and that your toe is better Have you thought about having it checked? We think DH has a broken toe, he did it about a month ago, and it's still giving him hell. Of course, he wouldn't have it looked at then, and now he doesn't have any time
Thanks Janie... you're such a sweetheart!! I'm ok.. just a bit flat at times and it's been kinda nice just lying on the couch in silence. Off to bed now so hope I get a good sleep.. then Luke's at daycare tomorrow.. so that will be nice. Have an eye test and picking some new glasses out.. can't wait.. although god knows how I'll actually make a decision.. hope that staff are good!!! OMG... you're having the steroids tomorrow... does that mean bubs will be out soon????? I hope all is going ok. No dramas.. just let me know! As for the toe.. I think it will be ok.. there's nothing they can do anyway.. it's not throbbing anymore so thats a start!! Will wait to hear from you tomorrow. Good luck hun. Thinking of you!
Hi guys. Huge day here, sorry for the selfish post. Just wanted to say how proud I of O. In the 6 weeks since B has been being he's toilet trained and decided he doesn't need a dummy to sleep. He has always slept with one in his mouth and holding one in each hand (he has never had them during the day) and as of two nights ago, they're gone. apart from a bit of fuss on the first day, nothing since. He hasn't even tried to get B's dummies.
I think it's safe to say my little toddler is now officially a big boy. I'm so proud I could burst!
Lisa - oh no! I hope bubs turns around again soon. I can't believe how close you are now.
Deb - sweetie, thinking of you.
Spring - woohoo on the TTing and getting rid of the dummy! DD is similar - she has to have two dummies at night - one for her mouth and one in her hand. It is a pain because if she loses one during the night she wakes up and we have to find it for her or she won't go back to sleep. I am looking forward to the day when she decides to give up the dummies!
Janie - so good to see your ticker chugging along - I keep checking where you are at and you are so close to 34 weeks now which is great!
Lee - wow on the 8 hour sleep! I am finding that J will spread his feeds to four hours or sometimes longer during the day but is still wanting three hourly feeds at night! Such a pain, but he is a pretty easy baby compared to his sister.
Willow - OMG what a scare that must have been. I have nightmares about things like that happening. They just move so fast! DD has vanished from me in a split second and I panic when there are cars around. And woohoo on joining the gym!
Jo - how are you feeling now sweetie? When is your scan?
mako - glad you managed to get the BTs done. That would make me so angry!
We are chugging along here. Not getting a lot of sleep but I guess that is no surprise with a newborn. He is a pretty good baby really. Meanwhile DD still doesn't sleep through the night and DH and I have started fighting over it. I really don't know what to do. Other than the dummy issue, which is often why we are up to her during the night, we also made the stupid stupid mistake some time ago of letting her take a bottle of milk to bed with her. Obviously at the time I didn't realise that is a big no no, and it did help with her sleep for a while. Now I realise how bad it is for her teeth so want to stop it, plus she has started waking during the night asking for more milk, EVERY NIGHT. It is driving us crazy and she is 2 now so DH really feels that she should sleep through the night. I have tried watering down the milk which I get away with as long as it is not too watered down, and when she asks for more milk during the night she doesn't get it, I will only refill her bottle with water. Does anyone have any tips? We have had such a hard time with her sleep issues and the last thing I want to do is go there again, but there is no way she will go to sleep without the bottle. Now DD is a VERY strong willed little girl. She will cry all night if she is not happy about something. I have no idea what to do!
Bun - Re your DD - this is a toughy. Atm it may be too ambitious to do too much because you have a new baby in the house and maybe some of her waking is a bit of anxiety about the new bubba. We had an issue with taking the dummy off Loren because she kept loosing it and we had to replace it all the time. We got to the point that we just went cold turkey and put up with a few nights from hell. We did a loooottt of patting and back rubbing. Thankfully she has replaced the dummy with a dolly. With the bottle you could start with giving her the night time bottle out side of her room then putting her to bed. Again be prepared for a battle of the wills but at the same time maybe sit with her until she settles and keep telling her that she has already had her bottle. I would start to verbalise her nightly routine with her. Tell her that it is time for bottle, then tell her it is time to brush our teeth, then a story and then night night etc. I think whatever you do you need to choose your battles, take things slow, be consistent (mum and dad), do things at the right time (when you have the energy and patience). Good luck
I agree with Bek. I'd take it slowly and work on one issue at a time. I don't know if I have any useful advice re dummy because thankfully neither of my DS's really had/have one so it's not something I've had to deal with for them. DD however did have a dummy but we never had to get up to replace it for her, she always managed OK. Are you happy for her to have the dummy to settle but just don't want to be getting up to her when she looses it? If so, a friend of mine (who had twin girls) worked around this by using a dummy chain clippped to the girls' sleeping bags. I can't remember the brand, but it had a very short ribbon as opposed to a chain and there is just no way it would wrap around a childs neck etc so she was never concerned with safety. It worked really well. Dummy never got lost and they would just find it at the end of the ribbon and pop it back in.
If you want to get rid of the dummy altogether...I would gently suggest you wait until she is a bit older. In my experience, 2 is a very difficult age to do this and if you wait just 6 months even, her verbal skills and her understanding will be so much more advanced and you'll probably find that it is much less of a battle. This is what I did with DD, she was about 2 and 8 months when we did it and it was a non event really. We had tried earlier when she was 2 and it was hell. When she was that bit older we were able to explain what was going to happen ahead of time, talked and talked and talked about it.
I'm not sure about the bottle because my kids never had one but L does have a sippy cup with a bit of milk while he's having his bedtime story and I want to cut this out soon-ish. I think Bek's idea of giving her the bottle outside of her room, or even in her room but not in bed, is a good one. This is pretty much what we've done with L and he doesn't associate it with going to sleep, more as part of the bedtime routine itms??
Also - this absolutely might be because of the little mister's arrival. DD was an excellent sleeper (hindsight's a beautiful thing ) but she had a sleep regression after DS1 was born that lasted a few months. I was getting up to two of them for a while and it nearly did me in. Good news is...it does pass once they adjust
Anyway, I don't think I've been much help but I wanted to try because I know how awful sleep issues are and the stress they create I didn't realise you had any issues with DD's sleep. I hope things improve soon.
Gotta get ready for school but BBL...
OK, I'm back.
Just wanted to say...Janie - guess where I went last night?! The DENTIST!! It went surprisingly well. No problems at all, no fillings or anything nasty like that. He even did x-rays which surprised me a bit but they were all clear. So I just had them cleaned which I HATE but had to suck it up because I had DD with me and it was her first time. She has 'beautiful' teeth I'm pleased to report and no issues with her either. She even let him clean her teeth which surprised me because she gets a bit anxious about things like that but she wouldn't let him use the vacuum sucker thingo. She told him 'can you put that away please and don't use it in my mouth because I'm very scared of that' At least she was polite about it!! I also asked him about the wear on my teeth. He said he has seen a lot worse and it's nothing to be overly concerned about. Talked to him about a splint and he gave me a quote so I'll probably go back in a few months and organise that. AND our health fund covered the gap so instead of paying $325 () it cost us nothing - bonus!
Deb - You are in my thoughts.

Ugh. This past few days have been rotten. Really rotten. Im just about ready to pack it in, pack a bag and run away.
Jett was coughing and spluttering all weekend. Sounded like croup to me but the GP on Monday said he was fine. Ry had to take monday off because Stellan had tonsilitis and needed another GP checkup. That night (because we are in the middle of shifting my stuff to his place) he tripped on a randomly lying around toybox and is now on crutches with a suspected fractured foot and torn tendons/ligaments. So I spent tues ferrying him around from hosp to dr to physio. Then Tues night I heard what I thought was Jett struggling to breathe; I ran like a maniac into his room to find him sleeping just fine. Then I realised it was Ripley. That few seconds when I ran into his room were the worse in my life. He was flopping around on his bed trying to catch his breathe, trying to call for me but managing nothing but gasps................I picked him up, kept trying to calm him down and telling him to just breathe slowly while I screamed at Ry to call an ambulance. But the 000 operator told us it would be quicker to drive to hosp so I ran about every red light to get there. He had started to catch his breathe when we got there; waiting for 8min for triage to see us (DONT get me started on that when I made it clear to them he was lethargic and had been struggling to breathe) then he was put on ED paed ward. Turns out HE has croup; they gave him steroids and pain killers, he got a 40deg fever. We went home after a couple of hours when the steroids kicked in, he slept great that night but last night BOTH boys were gasping and choking in their sleep so Ry bunked in with Jett and Rip slept with me. He woke me up atleast twice gasping for breath and choking. I think its more than just croup because I have asthma and apparently croup can get worse in asthmatic kids, Rip came down so suddenly and severely. So now my aim is to get them well enough to go to daycare next week so I can start classes *sigh*
Honestly I must have a **** on me sign on my back
Hope everyone else is having a better week than I am; sorry for the selfish post.
