    Hiya ladies....
We went to Riverway this am for a family morning out,its really nice there hey, never been there before and the kids just loved it.. but how stupid are we, we forgot the bloody nappy bag and rori done a poo! so our lovely family was cut short but made up for it with hungrys for lunch...
my csect wasnt as dramatic as yours cayce but i still didnt like it, i prefer a natural just for closeness and calmness.. csect was calm but to bright and mechanical..
anyhoo, i best be off, sort kids out and stuff... so 10.30 at which park... sorry i forgot to write it down haha..
and noone got sick from my cooking last night either....

Im definately up for the park on Thursday but 10:30am suits me better too (will put kiddo's back to bed after dropping DH off at 6:30am so my toddler doesnt spack it during the day) as they dont usually wake til 8:45am. By all means start at 9:30 if its better for most I'll just rock up later and see if your all still there. Um how will I know who you guys are??

Seems alot of women are unhappy with their csection experiences and it makes me 1000% more grateful that I have never had to have one even with my crappy pregnancies. My OB's knew theyd have to strap me down to do it if they even suggested it so they worked really hard to avoid it at all costs. Good on you for trying a VBAC ladies!
Cayce, I have a friend up here that is wanting a VBA2C as well, Im giving her a hand with finding Drs, support etc when its time so I'll pass on info to you when I come across it!

Yep we will be there on Thurs. I love getting out of the house, everyday if I can. Declan needs a sleep so hopefully he can go down before we get there, if not put down a blanket and sleep there. At least the weather has been nice, albeit a little windy the last few days. Our skin is so dry at the moment. Not looking forward to summer though.
I ended up with a c/s, Declan was breech throughout my whole pregnancy so I was completely fine with having a c/s and even went to the antenatal classes, but didn't listen much about natural birth. He ended up turning into position at 38 weeks, so we cancelled the c/s and tried natural, but just didn't happen. I don't have any of the regret that some mums talk about, but i will try for a VBAC next time.
Anyway, i found a recipe for chicken pies, so i thought i would make that for tea since hubby is home to look after Declan. Who by the way has started sitting by himself!!!! Very exciting times.
    See you guys on thursday

    Hi girls!

I am def up for a meet this week if I am not moving or busy with Real Estate stuff. I will keep you posted.

Emma - I braved it and went down to the strand this arvo and we almost got blown away!!! It was nice in the sun but just to windy! Don't you hate it when you forget the damn nappy bag!

Shauna - Yep managed to go for xray on Saturday morning. But as I said thismorning, its playing up again. I could barely move thismorning. After I took some of those anti-inflammatory tabs it settled down.

Cayce, I have a friend up here that is wanting a VBA2C as well, Im giving her a hand with finding Drs, support etc when its time so I'll pass on info to you when I come across it!
Hey Anna. If you are on the lookout for OB's, PLEASE CHECK C-SECT RATES!!!!! Esp in Townsville!

BTW - I watched your Birth Montage lastnight. It was beautiful. You had some awesome pics! Very nice indeed.

Well as I said to Shauna, my back is playing up again. I have to make another app with the chiro tomorrow. Hopefully i can get in this week! I really need to know whats going on.

Thanks for the tip. As far as I know the OB I see is all for natural birthing if it can be achieved so I might ask her what her stance is on VBAC and VBA2C. Ah my montage lol My friend took the pics while she was watching, I want to video this time but Im not sure Im game enough.

Oh while I remember, has anyone in here had a baby at the Mater Private (old or new)? Its where I am booked in to give birth and just wondering what its like. Looks alright.

I *should* be at the meetup thursday. We just bought a new car so hopefully it will be on the road by next week. I have to get it rego'd and put over the pits etc so not sure when I'll be doing that. Anyone know a decently priced mechanic I can get to put it over the pits?

    Hi everyone,

I am an RN/student midwife. I usually work at TTH but have been at the Mater for the last month as part of my final rotations ( only a few months before I'm a real MW! lol) Anna I noticed you were asking what its like there. It looks really nice with the family rooms and everything but it is very Dr orientated and the C-section rate is ridiculously high so I would recommend that if you are birthing vaginally to be firm with the MW and OB in what your desires and needs are. If you want a natural birth, give your body every opportunity to give it a go. I just noticed that women can be swayed into thinking its the only choice they have and while you're in pain and your emotions are going crazy its easy to go that way. If you have a strong support person with you that helps. It all depends on the OB too, some of them give you extra time but others have the view that ' the most natural birth is via c-section' as quoted by one of them a few weeks ago. (no comment there!)

The birthing suites are nice enough, they dont have any bath tubs but everything else is pretty much the same as TTH.

I hope that info is enough, if you want to know more just ask me.

Its great to finally see some "inside" info coming to the outside world!

    Thanks for that Leanne!

BTW - Are you doing a post grad course through JCU?

Yes I am doing the postgrad through JCU Sara. I really like working at the TTH, I cant wait to go back but I guess its just personal choice. I know a few student MW's from the Mater who just hated it there and couldn't wait to get back to the mater so I spose its what you are used to. I have always worked in the public sector and thats where I feel comfortable with. You definitely see all walks of life, particularly doing midwifery. If I was to choose where to birth my baby tho, it would definitely be at the birthing centre, they have awesome MW's there and I would trust them with my life.

BTW Anna I noticed you are trying to be accepted there, I really hope you do!

Sara how long until you finish your Doula training? I might see you around the place once you finish.

    Cheers,

    Leanne
