I am another fan of the sea bands, felt a bit better after I put them on and was too scared to take them off again for weeks.
I found fruity ice blocks good, those frozen ice tube things that come in a 40 pack that you freeze at home are cheap.
I never got out of bed before having something to eat - DH would make me toast or milo just to get something in my tummy before I started moving around.
I also found it worse if I didn't get enough sleep.
I hope it gets better for you, I know it is for a good cause but it is something I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.
