If you are planning on going public, you just need to work out which hospital you want to go to, and book in there as early as you can. You will need a letter of referral from your GP.

When going public you can choose to do 'shared care' where you see your GP for some appts, and go to the hospital antenatal clinic for the other appts.

With my pg I decided to just do all appts with the midwives at the hospital (as I didnt like my GP very much), and I have no complaints, they were fantastic there (except for the long wait in the waiting room!). I even had one of the same midwifes from my appts deliver my son!

I'm not too sure about Private though... but I think the other girls have been through that already.
