I planned my own but had 2 of my friends host it on the day....it was much easier for me to plan and get it organised then someone else but i'm also one of those kinds of people that likes to be organised etc

I am wondering if I should have one also. This is baby #2, not counting my first cause she is now 12 ... so is i greedy to have another one? No one has offered to throw me one. I didn't organise my first one and was a bit dissapointed ... no games and not the invite I was hoping for, but SIL did go to a lot of trouble with food and decos. I guess I just had something different in mind.

I dont think your being selfish at all joey! I never had one for DD, no one threw one for me, but ive been to ALOT in the past year, and figure that if its ok for everyone else to have them, then i can too!

My problem is DF and I are really picky with what style we have, we like modern things, and I know this may sound ungrateful to others, but we do not expect others to buy anything at all, we were talking about buying everything we wanted then having a list of things we need that people can choose from..... I've been to baby showers that have a cot as a gift right down to a magazine!

Im still so undecided, and was hoping this thread would help me make my mind up I might visit the idea again in a few months to see how I feel about it ...

    Thanks everyone

I am planning my own baby shower, this is bub number 2 but i never had one with DS, and I figure this is most likely going to be my last baby so why not! I don't see anything wrong with planning your own, at least it'll be exactly what you want

I planned my own with DS1. Just a lunch with some of my friends. I didn't want games.
People wanted to know what to get so I gave them a list of stuff we still needed. Noone wants to feel like they got you something you will never use!

Joey, I have been wondering whether I can have one with this bub. It is my 3rd baby, but my first girl. Surely that makes a difference?? Basically I think we can do what we want, have another one if you want to... people buy you presents whether you have a shower or not. Every baby is exciting!

I think it's totally justified cause you won't have lots of girls stuff. This is my second girl within 2 years so we have heaps of stuff.

You could have baby boy invitations and cross out boy and with a pink vivid put "Girl" :-)

I think it is a wonderful idea you do your own shower! I am cos no one really has suggested it and I would rather not ask anyone so left up to me! I think it is exciting. Even though I'm in the early days I'm thinking a Pink Winter Theme for a girl and a Rainbow theme for a boy!

I'm not to sure about the baby games but I think a good one is everyone bring a baby photo of themselves and we guess who it is!
