Just a quick one for the girls with bad headaches and morning sickness....have you tried regular acupuncture? I had some pretty debilitating headaches early on and found acupuncture was a miracle. The headache that had plagued me for a week would be gone by the end of the session. I did have to keep it up regularly (once a week then down to once a fortnight) until the headaches stopped. I didn't really have morning sickness, but maybe the acupuncture played a part in that also.

Just a thought... Not only did it help with the headaches, but my stress levels were WAY better while I was doing it regularly - felt less anxious and more in control. I cannot reconmmend it highly enough.

Congratulations Megan and Kim So happy to see you in here after all this time.
Sorry about the name! Obviously Megans have good taste!

Nic, I'm sorry you are still feeling down about the possibility of a c/s. I know exactly how you feel. We had so many plans for the labour, birth and the hours that followed but none of it happened with having a c/s. I still do believe that calmbirth worked for us though. We waited for 6 hours, people kept asking me if I was nervous. I wasn't in the slightest. All of the theatre staff were fantastic, everything explained really well. But, none of it mattered when the 3 of us were reunited back in our room. I've been having a few b/f issues (supply and pain mostly) and I was thinking the same as you when I had a bad night earlier this week....why can none of this (ttc, pg, birth etc) go the way I want it to go. I wish I knew the answer to that one. Just think, in less than 3 weeks you will have your beautiful baby to cuddle and you will be so in love and pre-occupied with him/her that how they arrived won't even matter anymore.

Murph, the spinal block that was given for the c/s was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. I would say that because it was an elective c/s and I wasn't having contractions at the same time plays a big part in that. I was relaxed, hunched over the side of the bed and felt a small ***** as a thin needle was placed in my back and that was it. My legs started to feel warm and tingly and they helped me lay down. I then just lay there for about 10 minutes while they were getting ready feeling everything go tingly and numb. Very weird feeling. The drug went in around 5.15pm and had completely worn off by 9pm that night. I am not sure how you could get over your phobia. If that is the path you need to take, my biggest advice is to just relax as best you can. Breath through it. It is all over in a matter of seconds. On the plus side though, your DH is not in the room while they administer it so he wouldn't have to be dealing with watching them do it.

Thank you to everyone for all the well wishes. Still living in bliss and for the last 2 nights have had 7 hours sleep (broken, but still 7 hours!!) Today we went on our first outing to the shops to get some photos printed. That was an experience. Took us two hours just to get out the door! lol

Hope everyone is feeling well. Looking forward to some more BA's in the not too distant future.

Megan, your little man is a cutie!

Congrats on your first outing! I remember with our DD it took hours to get ready to go anywhere and you packed half the house... just in case!

My biggest fear of going out was not being able to collapse the pram to come home - I made sure I had that sorted before attempting to go out alone!

Hey Megan. Noah looks so lovely - he looks like he might be a bit of an old soul. Don't know why, but some babies have been around more than once I think.

Thanks for the advice about the C/S. I know it won't matter in the end - I have come a long way since by mealtdown. I don't cry everytime I think about it anymore. I also got swabbed and tested for staph (it lives on your skin apparently - not in the hosptial) and got the all clear for that which was a relief. One less thing to worry about with surgery.

I am looking at things now from a different perspective. The things that have gone RIGHT for me:

    1. Concieved 1st attempt at ICSI.
    2. Any uncomplicated pregnancy.
    3. The fact that I have been able to concieve and carry a baby to term. FULL STOP.

I'm going to stop being so selfish and be happy with my lot. Everything from here on in is gravy.

So anyway, we're not telling anyone IRL the day or time we're going in. But, to my PALTTTC buddies - we're booked for a 7am surgery on the 2nd of May. Now, given my luck so far I would say the rascal is going to decide that he/she wants to meet up before the 2nd of May and try to put in an early appearance. *sigh* where is a crystal ball when you need one.....

Have a fantastic day everyone - I have to go get my car serviced.

Murph - Maybe you would like to take over my list? It's on page one. You could add your additional info to mine and maintain it? Just a thought - I'll need to hand it on to someone else soon.....let me know.

    Hey girls,

Selfish post from me this morning...We had a heart attack yesterday but it ended good.

Kim had been having really bad pains in her right side ovary area, so we went in to see our FS and he did a scan. Firstly he could see lots of big cysts/follicles on her ovaries and he said that is fairly normal after ivf. Next he could not find the gestational sac. He really looked and looked for ages but could not find anything. NO GESTATIONAL SAC. So he ordered a HCG test and we left with his diagnosis of either a nonviable pregnancy or an ectopic. Of course while I was waiting for Kim to get blood drawn I bawled my eyes out in the clinic and then got dragged off for a chat with the nurse, who was really nice and everything but couldnt tell us why he couldnt find the baby.

So we went to my mums and waited for the phone call about the HCG levels. After much googling we came to the conclusion that either it was too early.. doubtful when most people see a heartbeat at 6w1d or it was an ectopic or a nonviable pregnancy.

Then we got the phone call to say our HCG was 9230 and pretty much right on track. So back to thinking maybe ectopic. But her progesterone was too high at 266 for an ectopic, he said he would expect it to be low. So set to go back for a scan on monday to see what is happening.

Anyway i could not handle it. I felt sick to the stomach. Kim was just zombied. In the end we went to the Emergency Room and they ordered a full diagnostic ultrasound. It took about 3 hours of waiting but eventually we got in for the scan.

We had this really nice lady do the scan and although she firstly took a long time looking at the cysts and follicles on the ovary etc, finally she got to the GESTATIONAL SAC IN THE UTERUS WHERE IT SHOULD BE!! After a while she found a yolk sac and then a BABY!! With a heartbeat of 190bpm.

So everything is fine. No bleeding. No Subchorionic Hematoma. No ectopic. One baby with a heartbeat and everything is fine!!!!!! Thank god for that. Ended up being our fertility specialist not having the best ultrasound machine and not being that good at looking for babies!!!

We cannot tell you how relieved we are. Now to get past the next 6 weeks. But today we are 6 weeks 2 days and we have one baby with a heartbeat that we are so grateful for. Never been this far before. Now I have to get ready for work and let my boss know because she got a phone call yesterday from me crying and saying it was either ectopic or no baby anymore and that there was no way I could not come back to work that afternoon. I think she will be relieved as we are almost. She is a great and very supportive boss luckily. She has had twins herself. At least she can stop teasing me about twins now.

Thanks for listening to my story. Felt good to get it out.

    Hi Megan,
what an amazingly scary time for you. I'm so glad it all turned out for the best for you and Kim. I went through a similar time, though I don't have emergency rooms nearby so it was just blood tests and gps until I could get to Cairns and luckily my gp found the heartbeat. I hope Kim is feeling better and your nerves are settled back down.

Now I know you are waiting for that magic milestone of 12 weeks, but as you have said, you have never been this far before and as others have told me, you need to enjoy the small milestones along the way. If you spend your whole time waiting for 12 weeks, then you miss a bit of happiness and stress-free days along the way. They do happen! 9 weeks was an amazing place for me to be and that's not far for you either. Remember to enjoy the baby steps.xox

Megan what a scary day for you both
That first scan is when you really do hold your breath. So glad to hear that bubs is nice and snug with a strong HB.
Hope the next 6 weeks fly's for you both.

Nic, congrats on setting up delivery date
As you said there is allot that has gone right for you so it is great to see the positive side of everything....and just thinks lots of cuddles in 3 weeks time for you!!
To be honest as much as I don't care how bubs is born the thought of a C/S scares the crap out of me but at the end of the day sometimes we just have no choice.

Happy Friday everyone and bring on the weekend, although for myself at the moment every day is a bloody weekend...not that I am complaining

    Hi Nixon,
I have to play with formatting (you probably found that yourself). It gets a bit scrambled so you might have to bear with me while I learn the ropes.

I'm happy to take on the mantel, but if anyone else is keen, go for it. It's a fun idea and good to continue.

Thanks for all your work on keeping track, it takes a bit of research to track everyone hey?

Megan - that must have been a scary few hours. I'm glad everything is ok.

Murph - good job! I'm calling my twins 'Beans'

BG - hope you're getting some comfort - and feeling better. thinking of you.

Other Megan - Noah is so cute!!! I can't wait to meet mine. Still so looong to go!

Nix - good way to look at it! Good on you. I hope you feel more relaxed after looking at it this way.

I've spent a good few hours today writing and re-writing my mat leave letter (felt SO good) and dreaming up names. I'm having trouble concentrating on work. So boring!

    Happy weekends all

    Hi Everyone

Megan: Noah is just gorgeous. He definitely looks like he's been here before....

Two Mums: What a scare you had. I'm so happy that you can now be reassured that you a little baby tucked up nice an comfy. Hopefully no more scares.

Nixon: Yay on a launch date. 15 days and counting...

All my other buddies, I hope that your week was kind to you all.

AFM: 13 weeks today, officially in the 2nd Trimester now... Did up our list of baby things that we need to buy and think that we might start shopping around this weekend to get an idea of costs. I think it has now hit DH that we are going to have a baby and that we need to start planning how to buy everything we need over the next few months instead of having to get it all at once (and spend a fortune as well).

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
