BW, sorry to hear you're feeling so wiped

You're doing a super effort with work and pregnancy together - I know how much energy it takes to be a teacher even before you add pregnancy into the mix. Hope those parent teacher nights are over soon and that you get through them intact.

I hope you're feeling better mentally too, hun. Just remember that everything you feel is valid, it's not just acceptable, but understandable, and you're a wonderful woman for being the incredibly thoughtful and sensitive person you are.

Miss C - I posted in your blog but so happy to hear things are falling into place for you and DH and CB will be one very lucky bub when he/she gets here

Are you going to find out gender at the 20 week scan?

BW - Hope the parent teacher nights arent too painful and i hope the exhaustion goes away, as for the feelings and thoughts i have that same problem, the words will come when are ready

Ellie - Hope the m/s is playing nice and you are feeling a little better

Look after yourself! Also a little slow on the uptake but i read in your Pg Announcement you and DH did this the old fasioned way! Well arent you bloody clever!

Devon - Hope your back is feeling better, i found a antenatal physio really helped and lots of stretching. Ahh the joys

Well sorry i have been MIA, i have been reading daily but just processing a few things also

Babies are both perfect and have been really kicking up a storm every hour or so one has a kick and a wiggle which is lovely and reassuring although some kicks are getting pretty strong, i just beg them to stay away from the bladder!

Have had a little bit of slight freaking out when the Ob said she wants to scan them at 24 weeks (2 weeks to go) to make sure the girl is growing properly because she is small and that we can take them anytime after that if need be..... well im not ready yet! I am petrified of the whole premmie thing, c section thing, and just lying there whilst they take them and whisk them away to special care. I wish i could just freeze time and keep them as they are safe inside me. I know they probably wont take them at 24 weeks but knowing there is an 80% chance they will need special care unless they make it to 37 weeks scares the crap out of me. I really want to be in the other 20%!

Okay i know none of it is really all that logical, but she freaked me out and i realised i have no idea about a lot of things.. and being the slight control freak that i am i need info. So i have a very long list for our next Ob appointment in 2 weeks.

Welcome, TL! Very happy to have you here. Can't comment on Brisbane OBs though.

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment last night and reading Miss C's words this morning has triggered some more thoughts... I've figured out what some of my problems are - again, just need the time to put it all in words. I'm sure I'll feel better when I do, but time is the problem, and energy... and just to top it all off, I think I'm coming down with a cold!

Anyway, must get back to work...

miss_c ? Thanks for your thoughts hun. I bought a hot water bottle last night and have had it up against my back. Definitely seems to help, and I sleep with a pillow between my knees as well.
Great news about DH?s job and being able to find a place to live, I hope you can get nice and settled very soon. And fantastic news that all seems to be going well with bubs, it?s so reassuring to see or hear that heartbeat. Can?t believe you?re getting so close to 20 weeks! I?m really glad that you?re getting excited!

BW ? glad to hear that you are doing OK, if a bit exhausted and overwhelmed. I?m finding my desk job a bit much, so I can imagine that the teaching load would be really stressful. I hope you can put your thoughts into words soon and get them out there, I?m sure that will help to clarify things for you. And as miss_c said, anything you feel is OK. I hope that cold stays away!

Shannon ? it must be an amazing feeling to feel both your babies kicking and moving around inside you! I can imagine it must be really scary to think that your babies might have to be born premature, and all that that entails. I hope your OB is just being very cautious and she will let you go for much, much longer than that. Your poor little girl not putting on much weight! I hope her greedy big brother gives her some room!! My DH is a twin, and his brother was bigger than him, and also squashed his leg, poor little guy. He was born smaller and stayed in hospital another week, but he turned out more than fine and he has very nice legs! I?m sure both your little bubbas will be just fine. I hope you can get some answers and reassurances from your OB at your next appointment.

I?m still feeling a bit anxious. But then I think, surely I can?t be so unlucky as to have two missed miscarriages in a row? Surely not now that I?m over 14 weeks? That would be too unlucky, so everything must be OK (I know, not terribly rational). Still, I?m considering calling the midwife who?s in on Fridays and asking if she can do a quick scan for me tomorrow. Haven?t decided yet though. Maybe I should stick it out till Monday? I just really want to know that little bubs is OK.

Lol my Ob is lovely but everytime i see her i think ok i need to get her a makeover! I have heard wonderful things about Christopher Price and the hospital has a great reputation and were really great when i had surgery there.

Devon - i dont think rationality comes into this whole pregnancy thing

I am surprised they havent given you another scan to put your mind at ease so you dont have to worry about another missed miscarriage. I would definately give them a call and try and get in tomorrow, if they say no well no harm no foul, However if they say yes you will feel a lot better

Queenh - congratulations and welcome to the thread!! Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy and looking forward to chatting.

Numa - bad timing about the power surge at the hospital! Really glad you got to hear your baby's heartbeat though, that's very reassuring even if you didn't get to have a look.

Scooby - so sorry you had a disappointing appointment yesterday. I completely understand that you're worried now, but I am sure that everything is fine with your baby. There's no reason why the HB would be too slow, or s/he would be too small, I'm certain you've got a very healthy bub in there. Still, I'd be might peeved to have to wait another two weeks!

TL - sorry to hear that you're worrying

. If it's any consolation, I had loads of AF type cramps early on, I was so certain that AF was coming before I got my BFP, and the cramps continued for quite a while afterwards. And the ms is so variable for each woman, there's quite a large percentage who don't get it at all ? maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones? I can't quite remember, but I'm sure I didn't get it until after 6 weeks, maybe even 7 weeks. I do hope you get a little, just enough to put your mind at ease.

Janie - not long till your scan now!! Two more sleeps, it will be here before you know it! I'll keep everything crossed that your bub is doing great.

Ellie - it must feel strange to feel good all of a sudden after being so ill. Maybe the rest in hospital and the drip have caused the ms to subside? But not unusual for it just to disappear I think, it went away for me pretty much overnight, which freaked me out. Plus, for some women it goes away for a few days and then comes back again. Is there any way you could get a quick reassurance scan if you're really worried? Holding out for another 24 days is tough. Sending you big

for Shan, miss_c, BW oh no, who have I missed? Can I blame it on pg brain???

As for me - I called up last Friday to ask for another scan, but got the same response ? midwives not allowed to do it any more. It was a hard wait over the weekend, but had our OB appointment yesterday afternoon and all is fine. Baby was moving around all over the place, got a great shot of the feet with five perfect little toes, measuring ahead of dates and all looking good. There also seems to be a rather distinct penis-like protrusion between its legs, so OB is 90% certain we're having a boy! We were both stunned as I was so certain it was a girl. Am slowly readjusting to the idea of a little boy instead, but as long as it's healthy that's all that matters. Anyway, we will wait for a (more) definite answer at the 20 week scan, but pretty sure at this stage that it's a boy.
