Jo I can understand you being worried about the b/h too. I don't know how many we should be getting each day either. I'm going to talk to my ob about it on Wednesday when I see her again and maybe ask at our antenatal classes on Monday night. Maybe they will shed some light on whats normal and whats not iykwim.

Marcellas I'm so very happy that your scan went well last night. It is great seeing bub moving around in there as you probably won't be able to feel him/her yet. I know I always loved seeing my little man on the screen

Not alot going on here today. Just been to work this morning and have to go back again at 1 for a little while. I'm starting to get a bit over work atm. I don't mind going once a day but when I have to go back in the arfternoons it gets a bit much. I can't do anything about it atm either as we only have 2 teachers there. We are still in the process of finding someone else to fill in for me. I hope it happens soon.

Yeh I guess I'm sounding relaxed about the posible early arrival of our bub. I'm trying not to think too much about it either knowing that there is absolutely nothing I can do about it if it does happen to be that way. I do have to admit that I'm looking really forward to meeting him and being able to hold this little guy in my arms when the time comes. And no I don't have my bags packed yet. I think I'll wait until I have my next scan at 32 weeks( only 3 weeks away) and then get them packed or partly packed.

I hope you are all having a good Friday. And Hi to Sazz, Monnie and anyone else who has been away lately

Kotare - the scan was nothing, i actually had both belly scan and internal (the sonographer was doing a research project and i thought i may as well help out, how else does the technology improve!!) I could have stayed there all day to be honest just watching it on the screen. A DVD would have been awesome i tell ya...laugh and cough a bit and see bubba move! Anyway, we were given on the spot 70% accurate downs risk and got 1/3000 or something which was nice to hear. I decided to do the bloods though which give a 90% accurate result, not that termination was an option, it would just allow us to educate ourselves a little if necessary. Anyway, they called us the following day with a 1/149000 or something big and crazy like that. So alls good.

DJTTC and Mako - what is branxton hicks??? It sounds a little daunting. I am learning all the not so great things every day and hearing about your pains and possible early arrivals is another thing i hadn't known about. Mako, i'm with you on the washing of the clothes, we've been given so many little things already and have bought a few too and the number of times i go and look at them and fold and re-fold them is just wonderful...I look forward to actually washing them early next year in time for bubba's arrival.

Glad you all sound well - how great is this journey of ours!!!

Marcellus - glad your scan went well, my bubs kicked & moved a lot too during scans & now that I can feel her it can really give me quite a shock at times because it can be quite strong but I have no idea if it's anymore than someone else who is pg. (at night it is worse & I do suffer a bit of lack of sleep but I must admit feeling her makes me feel reassured that she is ok).

Kimbe - braxton hicks are like false contractions which you can get from 24 weeks onwards & yes for me they have been daunting because I have had so many.
They feel like this huge pressure down in lower tummy (sometimes quite uncomfortable but not really painful as such) & your tummy goes as hard as a rock.
They last about 30 seconds & once over your tum goes back to normal, my tum actually sticks out & goes a weird shape when they happen to me.

I am feeling a little better today because a work mate was really worried for me so she phoned a friend who is a midwife & apparently some pp have up to 50 a day, some pp have none at all.
As long as they don't get more & more painful or regular it is normal.
I can sometimes get 6 in half an hour but then I will only get 1 the next hour so apparently that is not considered regular.
You get this because it's your way of preparing your uterus for birth.

Hi ladies, I just wanted to let you know that I heard from Monnie via text today, and she's at her parents, and can't remember her BB password, that's why she hasn't been on!

Hopefully she'll be able to log on soon

Just saw your pics Kimbe - awesome. is that second one 3D? Wish i could have one of those. We're so lucky having so many looks at bubs - mum keeps telling me how she never got to see anything till we were born.

BH sound like fun - not. I guess it would be reassuring to feel Jelly... though certainly looked like it could get a bit painful when s/he's bigger. Hope you're doing ok DJTTC

I think it's ok if Monnie takes a little break from BB...

    Hey guys

    I'm back!!!

Sorry it has taken so long to get back...as Sez said I lost my password...and life has certainly changed since the arrival of Felix.

He's a beautiful little boy...love him to bits...but man...what a change of life!!! Truly amazing but truly all encompassing!

We had a tough start...although the c-section went really well the following week in hospital was really gruelling...took ages for my milk to come in...poor little Felix was a hungry boy and the amount of interruptions in hospital were just immense...we ended up leaving a day early just to come home and recover!!!

Since being home, had a few tough days but things are certainly getting better and better...it is such a learning process. A real getting to know each other...but I love my little boy so much!

I'll attempt to post a photo...and also our little birth story.

Thanks so much for your support guys...

Hope you are all doing well...

    Take care chickies!

Monnie Welcome back hun. I think you're excused for forgetting your password lol.

I'm so happy that you are settling in to being a mummy and it sure sounds like you had a bit of a rough time in hospital. I'm sure all is better now you are at home (or should I say at your parents) I take it your renovations have started?
This whole journey of ttc then pregancy and parenthood is all such a learning expedition isn't it. You sound so in love with your precious little Felix

    Take care

Monnie - it's so good to hear from you although didn't expect to hear from you so soon after the birth of your beautiful boy.
Congratulations & I really do hope that now you are home you can get on with your recovery.

Hi Monnie - so great to hear you are back home enjoying your little man. Big congrats again.

Thanks Kimbe - I have had the bloods done too - personally i'm not worried about the results, but we are planning on announcing the pg that day, and DH was just wondering whether we'd have been told either way by then.

DJTTC and Mako - I am blown away by the fact that you guys are so close to having bubs. I can almost when you had your BFPs.

Thanks for your words marcellus - i know i will feel better after my scan - i just wish it was next week not the week after. When the first scan is at 6 weeks, it seems like such an awfully long time to wait until 12 weeks. Better learn to be patient. My sister is staying for a while and DH has been home for a few days and i have an assignment due on friday....so i'm keeping my mind pretty occupied and trying not to being a negative worry wart! It's hard having my sister here, and her not knowing. DH and i nearly slip up all the time. I am sure she is wondering why i've gone tea-total!?!

    Hi girls
I hope you've all had a good weekend and a very happy fathers day to all the new daddys out there (including the ones who are yet to meet their bubs).

Not alot going on here today. Feeling very mad at my mum atm after a comment she made this morning. I'm not going to get into it right now but gosh I got cranky with her.

Anyway dh and I start our antenatal classes tomorrow night and I'm a bit nervous at it all seems so close now.

My cankles are back with avengence and my fingers are very swollen too(I'm thinking it may have something to do with the heat).

Kotare Good luck to you on trying to keep your pregnancy a secret from your sister. You must be beside yourselves not being able to talk freely about your bub while she's staying with you.
I also want to wish you all the best for your next scan. I'm sure the time will go fast for you as you seem to be quite busy with assignments etc.

Anyway I'm sorry for the selfish post tonight. I'm sure I'll get back to my usual self in the next day or 2.

Monnie, sososos happy for you, truly amazing. cannot wait to read your baby journal.

Mako, ouch about the ankles, I hate that feeling, I get it on really hot days, so cannot imagine what its like to have it everyday. I hope your mum comment did not upset you for too long, sometimes parents can say some pretty hurtful things.

Kotare, all the best with your scan and your schooling.

As for me, nothing much, other than getting a really big belly for 4 months, lots of uni stuff and lots of issues at work. All making the time fly. Before I know it, the baby will be here.
DH and I celebrated 7 years together and I felt the baby move twice already. I guess that’s it….. been so busy at work its been hard to get BB to chat to you lovely ladies, so got to go and catch up.

Kotare - good luck keeping your news a secret, sounds like you need it!

Ltl Panda - congrats on 7 years together & feeling bub move.
What did it feel like, bubbles?
It starts as bubbles but then just you wait, then you get pounded.

Mako - cankles, you poor thing.
Sorry your mum upset you, I find everyone seems to upset me these days with all the hormones not to say you didn't have a good reason though.
Can't wait to hear how your classes go.

Does anyone suffer from legs going numb at night, it's always below my knees but it's very annoying because I have to get out of bed to get rid of it.

I hate whinging about being pg but I really haven't had a joyful pg & I can't believe all these women who don't get many symptoms if any at all.
I would just love to be able to enjoy every minute.

Well bubs is really kicking up a storm now, they are quite sharp kicks & pokes now I think she is running out of room.
I'm still getting braxton hicks everyday & quite a lot but I'm guessing that this is just my normal.

    Hi gals!
Welcome home Monnie and Felix! Hope you get into a smooth routine soon after your rough start. Hospital is suposed to be a place to rest and get fixed, not somewhere you have to get away from!

Scans are awsome arent they? I could have looked at mine all day long (except for the bad back and full bladder but I wasnt thinking of that at the time). I also think how lucky we are that we can see our bubs so often too. It is wonderful to get results from the tests but I love just being able to see him/her, that is reasurance enough for me!

I was wondering about braxton hicks cause one SIL had heaps and the other SIL who had preterm issues had none! Apparently a lot of people dont even know they are having them which sounds wierd but I know myself that I wasnt aware of my bubs moving around till quite sometime afterwards when a lightbulb went on in my head and I went "Hey, that wierd feeling I've been having for weeks must be IT!" Now there is no mistaking it though as they are real kicks and punches and somersaults. DH is hanging out to feel them but so far they are only on the inside... flabby belly probably doesnt help.

I aggree about looking the little things we have bought all the time. So cute. I just want to get them out and measure them up to my tum all the time. Must have been sooooo cute with them on the washing line!

I am looking forward to my classes, not really scared.... yet. I might be after I have seen the scary movie they aparently have hehehe. We arent starting till October sometime so that they finish closer to the delivery date and hopefully I havent forgotten everything by then. Preggo brain big time here.

Has anyone had trouble with thrush? I have only had it twice in my whole life but now have a nice culture going on here..... TMI but trying the yoghurt thing right now before going on to drugs if I have to. Any suggestions?

Hope everyone is going well and not too sick or sore...

Sazz Its good to see you pop in here again. I've been wondering how things are going. You poor chickie having to deal with thrush. I don't have any answers for you but I do know that my sister had it with her first pregnancy and the yoghurt made a huge difference. I hope this works for you too.

Ltl Panda Congrats to you guys on 7 years together. How exciting feeling bub move. I hope the work issues sort themselves out too.

DJTTC I really feel for you hun regartding not enjoying your pregnancy too much. I too have had days like that but I try to focus on the good ones and the fact that its all worth it in the end when we have our precious little bundles in our arms.
Are you sleeping on your back or your right side? If you are maybe bub is putting pressure on your sciatic nerve which could be causing the numbness in your legs.
The midwife last night told us as long as the BH don't get anymore frequent than 15 mins apart or painful everything is ok and its just getting us ready for labour and they aparently start happening from 10 weeks. Its just that we can't feel them at that stage

I have gotten over what my mum said the other day however I don't think she'll be doing any babysitting when our little boy arrives. She just has NO idea. I spoke to dh about it and he agrees so thats one good thing cause I did think maybe I was being hormonal in the way I reacted but he said she was lucky he wasn't around. So thats a good thing.

We went to our first class last night and while it was good, it did get a bit boring towards the end. I'm looking forward to next weeks as we get to tour the birthing suite. I am a little bit disappointed though as I would have really liked to have a water birth and they don't let you. You can stay in the bath for as long as you like but when its time to push bub out they pull the plug out. Oh well atleast I know this now and not when I'm in labor lol.

Well dh and I are celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary today(been together 9 years) So we'll go out for a lovely dinner tonight.

I also have an Ob appointment tomorrow. I'm sure everything is ok. BH are still happening but thats ok with me. Just so long as they don't get too painful I'll be ok lol.

A big hello to Monnie and Felix, Marcellas,Kimbe, Kotare and anyone else I may have missed. I hope you are all doing great.

Mako, congrats on 3 years, DH and will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary in Feb..... wedding anniversaries in years are no where as close as the years you are actually together. 9 years for you and 7 for me.....

Sazzafrazz , my SIL used yogurt and that helped. I once had it and I just used some Henissy, I guess try any strong spirit.....not sure if it did the trick but it went away within a couple of days.

DJTTC, yes they are bubbles, it feels sort of strange. I get numb arms here and there, but not legs..... have you tried myotherapy or deep tissue massages, they help to increase circulation and nerve function. Hope bubs slowes down a bit, my sister is having the same issue.

    Hi everyone.

Sazz - I have suffered thrush - at the start after the progesterone stuff - and I also had it last week - the yoghurt and probiotics (it costs about $50 at health food shops in the fridge) don't work with me all the time, I was given canesten cream from the chemist but like you wasn't completely comfortable with using it even though its meant to be safe. SO instead of putting heaps right up (SORRY EVERYONE) I just smeared it on around the edges instead. My naturopath had another thing - douching with water and a few drops of tea tree oil - but I think you should talk to someone about that one cause I can't remember the details and I aint no doctor.

Anyway, hope everyone is well Mako - sorry bout your mum but congrats on your anniversary.
Ltl Panda - we got married around the same time - my 3rd is on Feb 26th.
DJTTC I'm sorry about the hard slog you are having - I wonder if you forget when its all over? I think us guys have a hard time we work so hard to get there and its not fair that you suffer when you finally do.
Jo Looking forward to your scan - its a really hard wait to 12 weeks
Monnie YAY YAY YAY Congratualtions on Felix

    Sorry for not getting everyone,

I had food poisoning last week - I panicked and went straight to the hospital, they were fine and apparently are quite happy floating around even though I felt horrible. THe nurse let me hear the heart beats so I felt better. Anyway, 23 weeks and still have not purchased one single thing. I want to now but I don't know where to start now - its so overwhelming....

Sazzafrazz - sorry I can't help you with the thrush issue, hope the yoghurt helps though.

Mako - glad your feeling better about your mum, it's great that dh agrees with you on her not babysitting.
I must admit I don't no how I will let anyone look after our bub (& I actually trust them), the family is so excited I'm starting to think I'll never see her, lol.
Sorry you can't have the water birth you were wanting & I'm sure the classes will get more interesting.
Congrats on your wedding anniversary, enjoy.
Let us know how your ob appoint. goes.
I can't sleep at all on my back so I sleep on my side but it's both sides.

Ltl Panda - I can't wait till you can feel the thumps from bubs, there is just nothing like it keep us posted.

Clare - hope you are feeling better you poor thing.
23 weeks & you haven't bought anything, I would be in a panic only because I like to be organised.
Yes it can be very daunting but if you get a couple of your big items first I think you will find it a little easier.
Cot, car seat, dresser of some sort, pram.
Maybe start with those & see how you go.
    Good luck.
