our sc is in semi-retirement temporarily! so many yummy meals made in bulk that we're just eating our way through them! i can see another cook up happening in about a fortnight i'd say...

cai, that soup sounds good - just not sure i'm brave enough to put cheese in soup (i have fairly simple tastes!)

Ok Made 2 soups today in my 2 slow cookers LMAO!

1 pumpkin soup with added curry powder, sage & gourmet stock powder... it tastes divine

1 vegetable soup with italian herbs and all sorts of yummy stuff!

    They both taste divine!

Found out to that McCormicks is sending out free slow cooker recipe books so if you google their website the offer is on the front page

I finally pulled my finger out my backside and brought a SC today - a 6lt ronson one. I got sick of my oven buring the ass out of everything I put in it.

Trish, the beef and mushroom ragout McCormicks one is sooooo yummy! I made it just on the stovetop and it turned out fine. I have the chicken curry and the garlic lamb shanks ones in the cupboard for when I'm not feeling so creative LOL

Thats great to know Trillian. I have it in the cupboard waiting to be made up.

Oh forgot to say that the chicken curry one is quite nice. Not really a true curry flavour as such. But very mild and suitable for all the kiddies too.

Thanks for that Cailin, I have emailed them

Hey everyone! Where do you get the McCormicks slow cooker packs? I had a look in Safeway the other day, but couldn't see them. I have no idea if I was looking in the right section or if Safeway even have them!

Trish I found them where they have the meal sachets. You know the ones I am talking about. Like the Maggi, McCormicks packets. I think a few stores are a little slow on the uptake on them. You may have to look at a few stores. I found one nearby only sold a couple of varieties and the other store nearby sold some other ones. Neither had all of the range.

Thanks Trish! That was the section I looked in, I thought that's where they should be. Oh well, I'll have to try some others.

Thanks AJP, that is where I looked, but maybe it's just my supermarket who are behind the times? I'll check out Coles next. I saw the Aldi special the other day and was so cut because we'd just bought a slow cooker a couple of weeks ago for $75! (Luckily we had a David Jones gift card, so it really wasn't our money anyway, but still...)

Trish, I haven't looked in Safeway for the SC mixes, but I know they are in Coles, with the other dinner mix packets. ( OMG, how dumb of a description was that?!?) Um, Maggi cook in a pot and those sorts of little goody sachets. Spice aisle?
I have gone off my SC since being pg. Really so not in the mood for casseroley type foods. Am enjoying crispy chicken though. I made a super easy roast the other night, shopped up potatoes and carrots (smaller than I usually do, about an inch 1/2 across), tossed in a bit of oil and some mccormick or masterfood roast veg spices (read: mainly salt! But Yum!), put chicken thighs skin side up (also oiled and sprinkled with salty spices) on top of the veg, roasted, uncovered for one hour at 170 degrees (FF), and wa-la! MMMMMM, yummy crispy skin roast chicken and vegies...... (I did two thighs for each person). I have not yet had much success in doing 'large' roasts (ie, full chook or leg of something), so thismade me happy, and the smell was great too.
Sorry, not really SC food was it?

    Hi everyone.

Got my slow cooker for my birthday after months of looking around for one I wanted. DH just went out and did it all by himself, clever bugger. he did verry well. Got a Russell Hobbs one...Amity Lane range or something like that. Is 6l and is an great size. Can't go wrong with a big one I reckon!

Just wondering what everyones favourite cut of meat is for their slow cooker? I did African Beef (same as the Morrocan Beef recipe that is listed here on BB but using African spice mix instead of Morrocan) and I used whole oyster blade. OMG, I have never eaten such tender beef before!

Going to try to do either the coca cola chicken or maybe the batchelors roast tomorrow. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Whenever a recipie calls for lamb or pork I like to use shoulder. The meat is less expensive than other cuts, and more flavoursome than the leg of the beast, IMHO. I am getting quite good at getting it off the bone now, but you can always ask the butcher to bone it for you.

Well the pea and ham soup went down very well, even DD1 really liked it and was asking for it for dinner the next night. Pretty sure it tasted a lot like DH's version, he tends to use the bone leftover from the Christmas ham. Only thing DH commented on was the lack of seasoning, he has a real thing for salt and pepper in everything. I prefer to leave that to the individual, also with DD eating it I want to keep the salt levels down. So next time I will add some ground pepper. DH is a fan of the thicker soups, so I will just have to find some more to do.

We bought a cooker a few weeks ago - they're fairly inexpensive, too! And some of the recipes seem really nice! I'm going to try something tomorrow as a dry run before MrsP-the-first comes to our place to stay this coming Thursday. I was thinking of the beef curry, Swiss steak, or Beef and red wine. These are the three recipes I'm choosing from ... I'll let you know which one we choose and how it comes out both tomorrow and next weekend

    Swiss Steak (my choice)

    Beef Curry (MrsP's first choice)

Beef & Red Wine (the one we're probably going with for mumsie)

Hi, I just bought a slow cooker today and am sooooooo excited to be able to make all your yummy recipes! However, I am gone for ages during the day (leave for work about 7am and not home til around 5pm) so I won't be around to stir, add extra liquid or turn it off if it's cooked. All the slow cooker recipes I've seen suggest 6-8 hours of cooking on low - if I'm gone for 10 hours, will my recipes overcook? Is there something I can do to stop this?
