Deb - I have a normal LP (about 14 days) but my progesterone level was 11 or 13 at day 21 which, as my gynae says, you ovulate - but not well. So for the same reason, we decided on the clomid path. It worked 4th cycle with Caitlyn and this is cycle 4 again. He is happy for me to try 6 cycles before heading off to other options. This is after discussion about endometrial lining changes and CM deficits. I hate the effects (although in reality I get few) and as such I take it at 9pm to decrease being woken by the hot flushes.
The early miscarriages were investigated (after *persuasion*) by an early miscarriage specialist. My gynae is very good and referred me early. The miscarriage guy, with reluctance as I had only one of the three with a positive BHCG (and even that one wasn't positive until 5weeks) did the testing and came up with Factor V leiden with protein C deficiency.
Had the first appointment with IVF before we found out we were pregnant with Caitlyn and he said due to the heterozygous nature of the Factor V leiden he wouldn't do anything during the pregnancy. As such we didn't.
Caitlyn's death is due to placental insufficiency, the placenta just did not implant fully at the 22ish week mark. She was the perfect size at 18-20weeks U/S but could not grow and this was not discovered until too late.
Next pregnancy ... we will be going back to RPA. My gynae is an OB but only works in prvate hospitals so he is more than happy for me to go to the facility with the neonatal support. I was going midwife clinic and the OB I was admitted under for Caitlyn works with them and is happy for me to follow the same management path. The difference will be aspirin and clexane from conception. U/S as normal in the first trimester up to 20 weeks. From then there will be doppler assessment of placental blood flow as well as foetal growth measurements every 2 weeks.
I am very happy with the management plan and, even though I am far from thrilled at needing to give myself injections, it will be worth it to get that healthy baby at the end.
I am with you regarding the age issue. I am heading quickly to the age of 35 and I would still like 3 babies which does not leave me much time if each conception takes this long to achieve.
Here's hoping we all make the transition from here to PAML very soon.
