    Hi all,

Misty, sometimes I get a little full if Xave hasn't fed for a while. sometimes i actually express before going to bed so I don't get bad overnight, but I'm having to do that less and less. I always put whatever I express in the freezer as for example I'm getting my hair cut this sat so I've defrosted some for tomorrow morning, and we have a few weddings and other functions coming up and I'd much rather he went to bed than came out with us.
I must say that this is a superb idea and i've put it to the test. at least i dont have to wake up early than ella just to express b4 she can feed. thanks for the tip!

Sorry, still havnt caught up on posts prior 2 my last post.

Sonia, every bub is diff though. I can never remember Holly's milestones, I have to check my www - milestones, hehe. She rolled (repeatedly) from tummy to back at 14wks & from back to tummy at 5mths.
Ours has timber slats on 3 sides but Alan added straps with clip (from a backpack) when Holly was trying to stand on the changetable all the time, i dont use these for Lanah yet though.
I got about 2-3 small stretchmarks on my hips with Holly but many on my bum cheeks & bb's. But with Lanah, I think I took it for granted more & didnt use the cream regularly, ended up with about 10ish purplish stretchies on my lower tummy & whitish thin ones on my thighs & the purplish ones on my bum & hip which had faded, darkened again. I hate the flabby belly, it feels/looks so gross & im self concious bout it.

Oh no Kim on ur puppy dogs, ouch. Hehe, we didnt get a floater with Holly until she was over 1yo, she was standing in the shower with me & did a few poos. Then when i was about 7mths preggas with Lanah, Holly did 2 floaters in the bath, thats it so far, twice & no runny ones, TOUCH WOOD, hehe.

Corr, dont feel bad bout not diagnosing the thrush, we're not medically trained so hard to know when something is actually medically wrong. At least Cam's ok now. Yikes bout the car seat situation, GL with it, hmmm maybe a google search might come up with some answers. Aus is one of the only countries with very relaxed regulations on rear-ward facing car seats as they say 6mths/8kg can turn it around whereas other countries generally say 12mths, but not much u can do when bub just simply doesnt fit rearwards. We were able to keep Holly rearward facing til about 13mths old. Guess it also really depends on the type of carseat u have.

Rhiannon, hope Jensen's checkup goes well. Lanah doesnt get much tummy time either, if do it after a feed, she chucks & hard with Holly running around. Most of the time she gets tummy time lying against my chest.
Hope the colic eases up, it must be hard. Wow at the needles, yikes, Lanah cried after her 2nd needle, didnt really flinch much with the first. She only cried for 1-2mins then was a little unsettled on/off afterwards, she'd already fed b4hand.
WTG on the sleeping, sounds like things are improving, xlnt. Yay on the walks & Jensen having a nap during.

Sounds like a growth spurt there Sonia, gets that way huh, like haven't left couch from feeding, hehe.

Wow at the TT Ali, no sign of Holly wanting to TT yet, but like u said, early days. I read the TT thread in here the other day & I think it said TT can start anywhere between 18mths - 3yrs old. We still dont have a potty, doh. bit when she's doing a poo I say r u doing a poo Holly, so hopefully she'll understand soon. Must get a potty.

Sara, u did well having 2 kids at/near the kiddie pool anyhow. Sounds like u had a relaxing time at the pool. I'd luv to take Holly to beach/pool with mums group but just cant bring myself to in case something happens, as Holly will just want to bolt, lil monkey. They went to the baths/beach last wk & there's no way I could run after Holly, unlike a kiddie pool.
Lanah is bigger than Holly was. Holly really filled out shortly after formula which started at 6mths. Birth weights in my siggie
Hehe, yeah same for Lanah, she's just starting to play with toys (reach out).

    Hope everyone else is well.

Just popping in quickly to report that Willa slept through last night! I'm thinking it was a one off event, so am not holding out on it happening again tonight.

But wow, I managed to get 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep for the first time in 10 weeks!!!! Pure bliss i tell you!! And even more surprising I didn't get up at 4am in a panic with engorged bbs either. Both of us just slept through.

It would have been the eventful day she had - shopping trip to burwood westfield in t he arvo and then BBQ at her great grandma's place in the evening. It was the first time i had to put her down for evening bedtime in a strange place and she was just such a star about it! Anyway we got home and her daddy put her in her cot and that was that.

Another interesting development - well in my house anyway! - we seem to have done with wrapping now. I used the grobag briefly but its been in the wash since getting pooped on. Willa's just been sleeping in singlet and nappy and her 'blankie' that she has next to her nose. She shoves her face into it with her dummy and that usually sends her the 'time for sleep' signals. I know how one day can vary from the next when it comes to babies, but i'm hoping this fairly stress free sleep routine lasts.

Alright gotta scoot. Am off to make a bid for a lamp on ebay (my weekly excitement) and then relaxtion time. We been busy making steamed wontons at my place today and I've eaten waaaay too much.

back for personals tomorrow. hope u ladies have had a good weekend!

    HI all,

Kim you lucky girl. I'm using my high chair right now. Have xavier propped up in it while i type. Every time I turn to look at him and talk to him he gives me a big smile.

Misty I'm glad it worked for you. i do find I have to do it now or I end up really full in the middle of the night. So If you want to stop you will need to do it gradually, just expressing for comfort to ensure your body doesn't produce too much.

Neuri, yay for a sleep, nice treat for a saturday night. I hope she did it again for you.

Corr, just a thought, have you tried contacting Vic roads and asking advice on weather you should invest in a seat that goes to 12kg rear facing or if the recommendations are purely based on weight versus motion. I guess it would also depend on how well he holds his head up, because if he can't you don't want to turn him around 'cause his head would flop all over the place.

    Hi all,

    How are you all going.

My little man has a cold, but seems to be ok with it all. he was more put out by our trip out to see the doctor, 'cause the whole excursion cut into some normal routine.

    Oh, well.

Em has figured out how to pull herself forward in her carseat. scared the **** out of me when I saw her head bobbing up n down while I checked my blind spot!

My knee is definitely injured. Physio has me in a pressure bandage to give it some stability. started having probs with it when got preg with Em. Didn't stop me from mowing the lawn tho! thats good exercise!

Em has a bit of a belly ache today. hope it's not from the gastro stuff. still have to put olive oil on her cradle cap.

Bec, Every little cold builds his immunity for later life. hope it doesn't last long 4 u tho coz it's a real pain when u can hear them struggling to breathe.

Kim, Fantastic on the tummy time!! cant wait to c the pics!

    Hi every1 else.

    Hi girls,

Sorry i have'nt been on lately. I am in a bit of bad place at the moment. Having relationship issues amongst a lot of other things.

Bec - Awww poor Xav! Colby's entrance to world started with a cold! Not a nice thing is it. Do you count his age from the day he was born??? I have been counting it from the date (3'rd). I have been saying that Colby is 12 weeks on saturday. Xavier is growing beautifully is'nt he. I will get Colby weighed and measured on thursday or friday. The MHN does'nt work on saturdays and plus i don't want to have to come into town!

Kim - We got some new piccies today too. I will email some around soon! Nice to hear that Hayden brought you some lovely things!! Lucky girl you! he he!

Shell - Nice to hear from you hun! Its hard to keep up with posts sometimes is'nt it! Don't worry to much abou it. We just like to hear from you every now and then!

Sonia - WooHoo on Willa sleeping through! A massive acheivement!

Alison - Yep we have lots of head movement here too. Colby is'nt happy unless she is propped up and looking around!

    Hi to everyone else!

Well girls its taken me all day to do this post. We have a big day tomorrow and i want an early night!

    Hope you are all well

Hey everyone!. I finally have a pic up for my little Lachlan. He's doing really well now... only waking up once of a night time around 3 - 4am and sometimes letting mummy sleep in till 8 or 9 now. We saw the nurse yesterday and he's now 6.34kgs, 62 cms long with a head circumference of 42cms so my big boy is int he 90th percentile for everything!! (definately doesn't get it from his mother... except for maybe the big head bit )

    Hi all,

Xavier slept for 11.5 hours last night. I think he is trying to sleep his cold away, clever little bubs, 'cause he's back in bed again, and has been for more than half an hour.

Sara, until the 12 week mark, I'm counting weeks, but as of this sat he will be an official 3 months, and I'll probably just count months from that point on. It feels like 3 months is a turning point??

Alison, can't do much about colds, but he doesn't seem to worried. We have angled his bed to aid with breathing, and as I said above we are getting great sleep. So fingers crossed he knows what to do to get better.

Mellybubz, nice pic. What a handsome little man. Wow he is a big boy Xavier is 26 days older and smaller than him. You might have a basket baller on your hands there.

    Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing OK - with coldy babies, relationship issues.... its pretty tough for us mum's sometimes hey?

Milla is choofing along nicely! She had her immunisations on Monday, and was really pretty brave. A blood-curdling scream when the needles were going in, but she calmed down really quickly and had a BB, and didn't cry in the car on the way home (my worst dread when we go out!). At her 2 month check up she was 5.45kg, 57cm, HC 38.5. She's jumped over a few percentiles with her weight (she was on 50th, now up to 70-something I think). Pretty good for a fully BF baby, and nice to know that she is getting enough food from me (although it shouldn't suprise me, cause she is at the boob way too frequently for my liking, and she is looking like a fat little buddha!!) She is smiling heaps, hitting at toys and holding them for a little while if I put them in her hand (cheating, I know!)

We have joined a few mothers groups and I think I have over-committed myself.... I go walking with two other mums every Mon, Wed, Fri, followed by coffee on the Friday with them, then I have another mothers group organised by the health centre which meets on a Friday arvo. So Fridays I will never be home much. At first I was worried this would screw up any kind of routine and mix up Milla's sleeping, but she is going through a phase where she only wants to sleep on my tummy, so when I'm out, she sleeps in the sling or pouch, and at least I can get out of the house a bit. She was doing so well with big day sleeps and was putting herself to sleep in her cradle, but suddenly that all stopped and she refuses to sleep horizontally during the day.... Hmmmm.

She is still not the best sleeper at nights either - she does stay in her own bed most of the night though. We put her to bed at 7pm after a routine of "walk with dad - bath - feed - bounce on swiss ball - mozart cd". She'll sleep through then til 1 or 2am, which is pretty good, but then is awake at 3 or 4, and then at 6. I just have to get her to do a second big sleep after 2am, and we'll be set. I quite like doing a midnight feed with her - it saves the BBs, and is nice and cuddly. I have been doing "dream feeds" with her too - when I go to bed at 10 I give her a feed, and she really doesn't even open her eye in the whole process of getting her out of bed, feeding her a whole breast, and then putting her back down. lovely!

gotta go - its nap time, and i have to get myself comfortable on the couch for a while so she can sleep on me for at least an hour!!! Its too hot for the sling right now...

Hope you are all doing great,
    Rhiannon

    ok back for personals!

becca - how r u getting xavier to sit properly in his high chair? does he enjoy it? willa still slumps when she sits unless we prop her up nice and secure. Our high chair is still in the box but I keep thinking abt using it as she loves being in the loungeroom watching everything and sometimes she gets annoyed reclining in her bouncer all the time. Also wld make giving her bottle easier. But I thought 10 weeks would still be too young.

kim - looking forward to the tummy time pics!

ali - i do hope ur knee gets better after physio. I'm terrible with looking after myself by going to physio (for my displaced pelvis probs). But when i do go its always a hundred times better after. And congrats on em's weight. Good on you, Mummy!

sara - damn about the relationship troubles Tough enough mothering without our partners creating issues too. i'm sorry you're going through a bad phase and i hope you come out of it soon. u know, u can always rant to us about what's ailing you. We all go through similar **** every now and then, especially with the added complications of a new bub, so if u ever wanna unload, i'm certain we'd be inclined to listen and empathize. How is Colby going with her chucking? did u end up getting her checked for reflux. If its helps any, willa chucks what looks like a handful of milk every day and it sometimes unsettles her to the point where she wont take the breast but other times, it doesn't bother her. I been told that if the baby largely is not bothered by the chucking then its not really reflux but just usual baby issues.

mellybubz - that's a big boy u have there! and what a good boy to be letting u sleep in till 8 or 9am! *is jealous*

rhi - sounds like milla is coming along beautifully. yet another mum who has become 'baby furniture' lol. Its so nice having ur bub sleep on u isn't it? nice, sweet feeling. I have no idea how u keep up with more than one m's group. I can barely make it to my once a week commitment and its just across the street for me! I'm slack about leaving the house in the mornings. Your lucky u can do dream feeds. My bub wakes up cranky every time I try and sneak in a dream feed.

well the sleeping through didn't last. Willa has been erratic with her sleeping since that night. Guess its just an age thing. I shouldn't expect her to be the same all the time as she matures. Might be the big fat hairy annoyance that is daylight savings throwing a spanner in the works. She goes down around 6 to 7pm now, wakes at either 10, 11 or 12pm and then suddenly grizzles at 2am where I just stick the dummy back in, then wakes for feed at her 4am. And then wakes for brekkie at 7am. I can handle the 4am feed but the 2am grizzling robs me of more sleep as while she may fall asleep fairly quick, I take a while to get back to sleep. Oh well. I'm ok with it because her weight has been great (6.1kg as of yesterday) and she started grabbing at her change table toys! there is a little springy octopus which she grabs and mouths. I just stop and stare as if i'm watching someone make fire for the first time hehehe.

ok thats all from me today. Willa's Nonna has her for the day (yippee!) so I have the apartment all to myself. What am I doing ? CLEANING. Can't believe i'm getting excited abt vacuuming and mopping. What has become of my life! :P

    Hey!

I don't have much time to checkin with personals, but here's a quick catch up...

Jensens needles were done on the 18th, at exactly 1mth old. We saw a health nurse on Friday last week coz the week before he'd only put on 190g. But Friday, he weighed 5.3kg!! She checked his eyes, the light is supposed to shine in the same spot in both eyes in the pupils by a certain age. If by that age its still not shining in the same spot, we'll be referred to an optometrist. But we're being referred to a paed as apparently his hips aren't as loose/easy to move as they should be.
So, as of Friday just gone, he's 5.3kg and 56cm... I can't remember how big his head was... I'll get back to you with that.

We went garage sale-ing on Saturday gone and bought 34 cloth nappies and 18 pilchers and he now wears cloth nappies !! Well, sposies at night coz they hold more. We bought heaps of toys and other stuff. I was quite impressed with our haul.

Anyways gotta fly to the chemist and pick up Andrew...bbl. Hope you're all well ( and feeling better)

    Hi girls

Sonia - Awww thanks hun. Yeah we all have our tough times don't we. Its really good too have such a good support network of mums who are going through the same thing as each. Give or take a few things. Yeah Colby is going pretty good. She is still quite spewy and i will be taking her to the MHN tomorrow to get weighed and all the rest. I will ask her about reflux then. If Colby has lost or has'nt put on much weight since last being weighed i might be a little worried. Sorry to hear Willa did'nt get the sleep-throughs up! Soon hun soon!

Alison - YAY EM!!!!!! Keep it up special little girl! You must be doing a good job Alison. Keep up whatever your doing too! (I would have added some cool icons but mine are'nt working for some reason!)

Rhi - Nice to hear from you hun. Good to hear that Milla is going well. We too have joined a mothers group. Just the 1 for now though. I am finding it too tough with 2 babies to go into town. Plus Briley is in the "get-into-everything-and-make-a-mess stage!

Bec - Wow Xav!! Big sleep. Colby is back to having long sleeps during the day again. Not today though cause we had to go into town. I keep having to wake her up cause she is sleeping too long. Evenings are still a bit of a struggle. Lastnight she had bad wind and a tummy ache. We managed to get a bit of the wind out but not all of it. I had too try and eat dinner one handed. Then she poo'd all over me! Not something that i wanted to happen while i was eating but that baby land for you hey!

Melly - Good to hear from you too! Lachlan's pic is a cute one. He is a little handsome man is'tn he! And growing beautifully. He is a good sized bubba thats for sure!

Hi to everyone else! Hope you are all well!

Well i am feeling much better today. I have had a very exciting day to be honest.

I met with the co-owner of Townsville Birth Buddies thismorning. Her name is Phillipa and she is lovely. I organised a meeting with her a few weeks ago to have a chat about me joining her "crew" of doula's. Things are looking good. I felt that we connected really really well. This meeting sealed the deal for me. This is defenitely the way i want to spend the rest of the life. Supporting women bring their babies into this big wide world. I was even lucky enough to be given a copy of her last home water birth on film. It was an amazing picture. I can't wait to attend my first birth!

Now for the other news, Brent was offered an excellent job today. He was going to see Skilled and Active Labour Hire today about any work they had at the moment and mentioned that he was looking for something different as he was sick of the same old thing. So they lady said we have a position going at the moment. I can't remember exactly what it was called but he works for the labour hire place going out to sites where their workers are and checks on them etc etc. He gets a company car and mobile, $55k a year and holidays! Money is'nt as great as he is on now but i think the change will be good for him! I told him to go for it!

I even managed to get my mum the perfect pressie! Its on lay buy but is till go her something small to give her now. I lay-buyed this beautiful chandelere(sp??). Honestly the last thing i would have thought to get her so when i saw it i knew it was the perfect pressie for her. And it was only $199! And i got her a small candle holder thingy to give to her now. I am not going to tell her about the other pressie though. I want it to be a suprise for later.

So its been a pretty good day overall. I just can't believe how good i feel after that meeting with Phillipa. It was just like something changed. For the better ofcourse.

Colby has wind so i better go to her!

    Take Care!

Scone, Hope he is ok. At least u can focus on him for a while and get him all better.

Sara, All fantastic news! well done!

Well my knee is sore today coz I did a big long walk and and a little run but it's not too bad. I have to exercise to lose this double baby weight. My knee is getting stronger now tho. the cap is starting to move to the correct place with the exercises that the physio gave me.

Hi everyone, Again apologies for not being around much, I have tried to post almost every night but Cameron kicks off and i have to abandon it!!

Cameron had his immunisations last week, they went well...but he was really unsettled and grizzly for 5 days after. I was starting to get worried but he is back to normal now and a very happy baby.
When he had his needles the GP voiced concern about his weight gains and the frequency of his feeds. He is also vomiting a fair amount ofter each feed and does not sleep well during the day. She thinks he might have reflux, so we are off to see the paediatrician on 29th Nov to get his oppinion.

Cameron has developed a lot over the past week, he is now laughing properly (very cute) especially when we tickle his tummy. He is making "brrrrrr" and "Brrrroom" noises and is very chatty when he is awake. He sucks his hand and thumb (making lots of loud sucky noises along with it!)
I bought a lamaze tummy time toy, and for the first time yesterday he managed to spin himself around on it which was awesome to see!

How did everyone get into mothers groups?? would love to be in one but really don't know how to get into them??

Will try and get back on later to do some personals, but Cam is hungry so I'd best go feed.

Just a quickie! Corr, the mothers group I am in was organised by the local Community Health Centre - when I had my first visit there at 4wks they gave me the details. The first three weeks has been organised by a nurse there, and she ran it with info and videos etc. We all exchanged emails and are now meeting at the same time each week but in a coffee shop instead of at the HC, so now it is more informal. Maybe its just a service that Qld Health sets up?
The other mum's group I'm in I found on another baby forum... we just met up in a local coffee shop, and now we also walk 3 times a week. I think I have over-committed.... ! They are pretty good - I didn't know anyone else here with a baby, and am quite new to the area so its a good way to meet people, but obviously you aren't going to click with everyone...
I also catch up once a month with a few of the mums I met in ante-natal class, as we had our babies within a week of each other, and two of us also met up in hospital just after giving birth.
Mostly at mothers group we just talk about baby poo and baby sleep (or lack thereof)
    Good luck finding a group!
