Sorry I haven't been in for a few days. I actually read the posts and wanted to reply but I was so damn tired and hormonal. After a week of hell with sleep Loren finally had a good night and self settled a number of times....I so hope this continues.

I went pshyco yesterday and told DH I was leaving, then AF showed up. I really felt like an idiot after my explosion but after 5 nights with only 3 hours sleep per night I was done iykwim.

Much better today but DH is still scared of me LOL!!!!

My settling technique is working for Loren so I am to continue.

Nic - I hope you get a better night.

Lori - Glad to hear you guys are on the mend.

Trish - Hi stranger, good to hear from you.

Morgan - It is hard when DH goes away for work but you do get used to it. My DH only goes for a week at a time and I am ready for him to come back afer 7 days. Can you get a grandparent to do a day or two of relief for you?

Jus - Don't worry so much about the lack variety Ella is eating. Just keep re-introducing from time to time. If you are worried about variety for veg then mix it with friut or put it in another food she will eat. I struggled with my ils on certain issues as well, especially food!!! I stood my ground with them and did not comprimise and I think they have finally got it!!!

Buzzie - WTG on Ash's sleep. He is such a super baby!!! Sorry to hear about your granddad.

Where do I get the Raferty food from?

BTW Loren weighed in at 8.5kgs and is 72cms long!!! She is in the 95th percentile for weight and height..She doesn't look big to me but now I am worried that she is too big.

Hey Bekz, no wonder you were done! Doesn't hurt to put some fear into dh. Who knows, he might surprise you with something nice!
    Rafferty's I just get from woolies/coles.
Same for the Sweet William lauren. in the organic section. If you're real desperate I'll send you some!!! he he he.

Bekz, what was your settling technique you were using again? WTG on the improvement.

No way is dd too big. if the weight & height match, then she's perfect. They need to put on as much weight as they can now cos when they're toddlers they can't consume enough in a day for what they expend. Ella's less than 10th percentile. That freaks me out a bit, but now that she's actually gaining weight i'm not going to stress. I think she's gotten chubbier in the last few weeks too.

Lauren, drooling over the sound of those photos. can't wait to see them...

Just have to jump in and say we've bought tickets to the Wiggles LMAO. The latest DVD we hired was a live in concert one, and both DH & I thought it looked like fun, so we bought some tickets. Unfortunately all the 'hot potato' seats are taken, so we'll be in the upper section of the entertainment centre, but I'm sure Tallon won't mind. He's not the type to get in the mosh-pit anyway LOL. The seats right in front of the stage don't look great anyway, coz they can't see the whole stage, and it'd be worse for the little kids. So yay! 20th December we're going to the wiggles!

    Hi everyone
Lauren - So sorry to hear about your grandfather. I hope you get a chance to see him. The photos sound adorable cant wait to see them.
Lori - Great news that Ty is on the mend and WOOHOO on the sleep. Even one night makes such a difference for us
Bek - at the explosion - at least you could blame AF I'm just a biatch lately. No hope of any support from grandparents as we have absolutely no family support here
Liz - Ah the Wiggles - You'll have a ball.
Jus - Great news that Ella's gaining weight.
Nic - Jacob stop mucking up at night - I hope he starts sleeping better soon for you so you can make the most of Olivia's lovely sleeping.

Well we took Vicky out of the baby capsule today and put her forward facing in a car seat...she had the biggest smile the whole ride and no screaming - Yipee! but my little girl is growing up so fast. We went and laybyed the kids "big" christmas pressie today at Target - A toy kitchen - Alex was so upset that we didn't take it home today just have to wait kiddo.
Thank you for all your kind words and reassurance's I think im actually looking forward to a little break from DP as he is just driving me insane *sigh*. I got a bit of a practice run tonight as he is out at a concert so I had to bath & bed the kids - no problems but then after I had cooked tea (homemade pizzas) for all of us plus his mate & his GF I was left to also clean up....good thing DP isn't home til tomorrow.
Well have a lovely Sunday everyone

Jus - Sounds like our bubs are at either end of the height and weight sectrum....would be funny to see of pic of them together hey!! I am not using any particular settling technique. I actually took your approach and decided to do it my way or by instict iykwim. Therefore I have decided to keep a simple routine of cuddling Loren until she is really settled, then put her in the cot (whilst still half awake) and settle her by sitting beside the cot with one hand on her until she is asleep. If I here her stir I am trying to settling her by sitting next to the cot or I pick her up and put her down when settled. For some reasong this is working and she has even settled herself quite a few times over night....You never know this maybe a turning point but tonight could be back to normal.

Liz - WTG on the Wiggles concert. I want to take Sara if I can. Wiggles are the :band" of the moment for us.

    Morning All!

Last night was SO much better. worked out why Jacob was waking so much the night before. The Bl@@dy cough mixture I bought had pseudoephergine (sp) in it (speed basically) and it can cause sleeplessness I asked for a non drowsy one so I guess I got that.. It stopped the cough though but we got a worse nights sleep.. He slept well last night with no coughing. He just fell out of bed a few times.. *sigh*

Olivia slept great. only woke the once 2am I think. I was swaying with tiredness so I don't know We went to inlaws for Birthday BBQ as it was FIL birthday yesterday. I was so tired I ended up pushing Simon out the door saying Lets go We had Reef and Beef and it was delish..

and we have tooth number 3. eye tooth number one is through, so we have two bottom and one top..

Today we have a BBQ Birthday Party for Ethans Birthday which is wednesday (and SImons which is Monday I have a cake for both but Simon doesn't know that everyone is celebrating his Bday today too )

Well after my huge rmble I shall go

I was trying to get her that Playgro car Travel gym from Target and its sold out here (the sale) and they dont know if they are getting any more in which is a right pain... What is the point of having a 2 week toy sale if the products sell out on the first day.. That is my vent anyways

Lauren - I'm not taking Kayla, and if I do, well, I doubt they'll be asking for ID to see if she's 1 yr old. hehe. She'll be 13mths by then. I can't imagine her being interested in the show, she doesn't even look at the TV yet LOL. Tallon showed no interest in TV for a long time either. So I'll have to see if mum will look after her for the afternoon, we're going to a 4pm one.

Wow, all these babies turning around in the car! I can't imagine Kayla turned around yet hehe. She'll be rear facing as long as possible I think.

Nic - I'm the same with those tablets.. even if I take one early in the morning I can't sleep that night. I'm not wide awake.. just can't sleep! So I go in search of ones that PUT me to sleep LOL.

Well, we're still having wakeful nights. I didn't have any caffeine yesterday, and she was better last night. Still woke frequently, but no incessant screaming.

Tallon on the other hand, woke around midnight and cried and cried and cried. Couldn't be consoled. It was awful, and annoying coz I was trying to settle Kayla at the time. Normally when he wakes he just jumps in our bed, lies down and goes back to sleep. Dunno what it was. He did have a whole cupcake with icing last night (someone else fed it to him - argh) so I'm thinking it was a sugar thing. He's really bad when he has sugar, he literally runs laps of the house or runs around in circles hehe.

Thankfully he loves eating fruits and things, and regularly asks for gherkins or olives, and eats popcorn as a snack too (freshly popped) so normally he has healthy snacks. I don't really object to junk food coz he eats well other times, but geez.. he's hard to handle when he has it.

Well, must go, we're all going to have a nap! hehe. Altho I don't really want to fall asleep, I want to make use of my child-free time!

    Bye!

aargh crappy night here again. miss woke as we went to bed at 10 & cried for 2 hours. nothing would console. rang tresillian for advice - might be of interest to you all that it could possibly (who knows!) be developmental advances disrupting her sleep. But it could be anything really. then woke every hour after i finally sang her to sleep. yay for dh who kept her in bed with him & let me sleep in spare room.
Maybe the fact I cuddle her to sleep???
Although, I've been trying to put her down awake this week (roughly what you do Bekz) and without fail, she wakes 25 min later, inconsolable and impossible to re-settle. If not, I think she would generally sleep around 1 hour. But who knows what would have happened. This defies all the explanations that Tresillian & Karitane have given me about putting to bed awake. Does anyone else have this?
I'm wondering if it's got to do with separation anxiety. She's very clingy. Cries any time she sees me. I thought the crying was supposed to reduce after 3 months. not at our house. we're aiming for olympic records.
i'm getting more & more down at how each time I think there could be sleep improvement she reaches new lows. And all the other bubs seem to be doing better.

sorry not responding personally, sounds like lots of fun things happening - wiggles, birthdays, woohoo.
have a nice sunday. been sitting in the sun with a cuppa. lovely.

Jus - crying doesn't reduce at 3 months. It just changes. They become aware of people, and separation anxiety can kick in when they realise they can't see mummy, they go through big developmental leaps, and they start cutting teeth. There's lots to cry about really hehe. Some babies do cry more than others, I find Kayla cries more, and louder! than Tallon did. I think it's very much a personality thing. I think Kayla wants to get moving and get into things, whereas Tallon has always been very passive, has always been content to sit & watch and not necessarily participate. As for sleeping - i don't think all the other bubs are doing any better, we all seem to be complaining of sleepless nights, so you're not alone! I think it could well be developmental for them all. I know when they start crawling they tend to practice it in their sleep, and i also read somewhere that once they can sit & stand, it's like an instinct that makes them want/need to be upright, so even when they're heaps tired, they'll keep sitting up or standing up. Poor little things. So we just need to help them through it.

Nic - Happy Birthday to your boys.

Jus - Sara (DD1) was and excellent sleeper but she did have sleeping issues just prior to acheiving a developmental stage such as crawling and walking. I have read that this is called a wonder week/month. How is Ella with different foods? Her wakefullness could be due to food intolerances, this may also explain why she is not a big eater (I think I remember you mentioning this before). More often than not dairy to a big factor with sleep issues and bubs. Try going off dairy and taking her off it too. On the other hand you may have a clingly bub who just needs that bit extra comfort. If this is the case take her to bed if it means you all get better sleep. Loren is much more clingy than Sara ever was and I am finding this hard to adjust too as well.

Liz - Half of Loren's sleep issues are because she wants to stand up in her cot. This why I have resorted to holding her initially before putting her to bed and I use the bag but she still gets up

Buzzie/Jus - Becareful drinking soy too!!! It has proteins that some bubs can't digest. You end up with the same result as being on dairy. Rice milk is the best!!!!

Buzzie - You can get rice milk in the UTH milk section. I like the Vitasoy brand the best. It is hard going off dairy, I have done it heaps of time and I hate doing it but I do feel better once I have detoxed

*yawn* how I would love a full nights sleep. It's been 2 1/2 years now I think that I haven't slept through! LOL. We haven't had the screaming for a couple of nights, just big feeds!

I'm actually considering setting up the big cot in Tallon's room and putting Kayla there, coz I have a sneaky feeling that us moving around in bed and DH's occassional snoring is waking her up. Bit sad to not have her next to me tho i guess I can just try it. I'll leave her other cot next to me for if/when I have to go and get her. We've all been sleeping in our room the last couple of nights.. nice & cozy all together.

Lauren - DH drinks rice milk - he likes the Country Harvest one (I think it's country harvest). Altho now he's drinking the Lactose free milk. Is it lactose or dairy in general that you have to avoid?

Nic - glad you had a great time. I hope Ethan felt very special and loved, and felt no need to hide away from anyone!

Well, I've just got a busy day around the house today. Trying to do some washing, tho it's a gloomy drizzly day today, so my house is going to look like a laundry shortly LOL.
