Its taken me ages to find the group on the website as I thought we hadn't started in here yet!
My name is Moose and I am the mum to Samantha (Sammy) born on the 9th of Feb and she was 3130g. Things have been fairly good so far, had some issues with breastfeeding at first but attended a couple drop in BF clinics and got that sorted...apart from her falling asleep at the boob but I can deal withn that. I strip her down to her nappy and burp her a couple times through.
The last weigh in done on Tuesday, Sammy had put on 190gr in 5 days, so she is well and truly on her way to fattening up. We had some issues with settling as well and she still has her days but she seemed to have fallen into a routine where she is awake after the 8:30am-9:30am feed until 11am or midday, then we feed again and she sleeps well for the rest of the day til the 12am-2am time where she does the same thing, she just doesn't like being in her cot, but is not crying the whole time, she has what I call quiet time in our arms. What I found works wonder is to lay her on my chest (skin to skin), her ear close to my heart and I pat her bum and she usually fall asleep.
Glad to see everyone is doing pretty good with the motherhood thing. Just don't give up and get as much help as you can. I cannot say how good the BF clinics were, built my confidence as the EC nurse had managed to crush whatever little bit I had gained when she told me Sammy was not feeding well and told me that she had only gained 80g (when in fact she had gained 160! She used the birth weight not the discharge weight silly woman) As mentioned before, Sam put on 190 5 days after that, so she is feeding JUST fine!
Gotta run and get a couple things done before Miss Sammy wakes up.
Looking forward to hear from everyone's motherhood adventures as it's a wild ride but boy is it fun! I love her SOO much
