Well JD woke up at 5.45am for a feed and so he was feed 1 hour earlier than his usual time, still at least he did not get up at 4ish for his dummy which he usually does. I had a visit from the sleep and settling nurse this afternoon. She gave me some good pointers and I was able to feel confident enough to get JD down without the sling tonight. Although she said that we should not wrap him too tight as we have been. So I didn't and he keeps waking himself up with his hands hitting is face or knocking the dummy out. So not sure about that one. I am hoping he will make it till 8pm before his next feed then I will re-wrap him cause after about hours sleep last night I can't afford to be up all night again tonight. I tell you I appreciate my DH doing the night feeds. I can't wait till he comes home.
My mum and I took him shopping today and he cried the entire way there, then I put him in the sling and walked around with him and he settled pretty quick. Then I put hi in his pram and he slept until he got hungry. It was my first time in the parents room, it was ok not that great though. I thought it was so hot! But it was great to get him out and about finally. He was happy all the way home and settled nicely in the pram in the lounge room till his next feed. My mum and I watched baby muma on DVD actually we haven't finished it yet. Its a rare thing to watch a movie from start to finish these days. But its pretty funny.
JD is smiling and laughing a lot more now. Its so wonderful. I just can't get enough of it. He stared into my eyes this afternoon smiling and I was so in love! I can't bare to be too far away from him now. Wow how the tides have turned!
Ohh my hair do is HOT!!! Pics on FB.
I feel great now..I enjoyed time away from both DH and Zach for 6 hours. Zach slept the whole time i was gone even....Craig got it lucky
The sleep and settling nurse came around yesterday and offered a few suggestions. One of which is that we should start learning to put JD to bed when he is awake so he can learn to get himself off to sleep. So far we have been rocking him in our arms or in the sling till he is fully asleep then putting him down, but that is both time consuming and it will make life hard for us when he is bigger and when I have to go back to work. So I tried it yesterday and it worked and I am trying it again now. I can hear him grunting, then coooing and gaaaing. So cross fingers he will soon drop off. Wish me luck.
hi everyone - so sorry for being rubbish these days, I just don't really get a chance to get on here anymore. Larissa is sleeping so well over night! We got until 8.30 the other night! Yesterday she had her immunisation so has been a bit off since then. Today we had our first mothers group - it was good but there was 11 mothers so was a bit to busy to make any fast friends. All the people are really friendly so that was good.
I've got a new job - working as a supervisor at Gloria Jeans 2 minutes from the house! My dps sister works there so I just went and spoke to the franchisee yesterday and said I'd be interested in any work he can offer and he said he'd make me a supervisor. I think its because a little older than most of the girls that work there but its good news. I start in 2 weeks time. DP got offered a new job yesterday too, working for centrelink, He had applied for a similar job just after we had Larissa but didn't get it due to them cutting the number of positions available but they called him back when they had some more available. He's over the moon - he really hated working for BigPond! He called to resign and they said not to go in unless he wants to work for them in the future so means he's home for the next week and a half.
I still don't think I've had my AF. I stopped bleeding for a little while, maybe about 3-4 weeks after the birth but it came back and hasnt stopped now for maybe 3 weeks. I had the mirena inserted last week and since then I have had awful stomach cramps, not sure if theyre period pain or just my bodys reaction to the UID. The bleeding is pretty nasty at the moment, so heavy and thick, similar to how it was after the birth just without the big clots. My Doc is giving me until early next week to stop bleeding and then she's going to try and work out whats going on.
Kim- did you not have AF at all between your girls? We were having unprotected sex when my bleeding had slowed right down, the last time was when larissa was about 6 weeks!
Amanda, when we put Larissa to bed asleep she usually wakes up and just puts her self back to sleep, sometimes she self settles when shes awake but not all the time. She's still in the habit of falling asleep while im bfing her so shes usually asleep when she does into bed. I'm looking forward to mothers group next week and learning some more settling techniques!
Hope everyone is well, and I apologise in advance if its another month before I get on!
Steph i had 1 AF after Chelsea (then i fell pg with Jasmine). I had 3 AF's after Jasmine (went on the pill 3 months to regulate cycles so i could gender sway for a boy, stopped the pill, then fell pg with Zachery first cycle). Now first AF after having Zachery!
5 Af's in 3 years...LOL.....its horrible when i have it...cos ive got so used to not having it.
I'll be quick cos my internet has just kicked me off before.
Puppies, I suggested the Dunstan baby language dvd a while ago. Don?t know if you remember. It's great. I've found that you can't really tell their cries until they are about 6 weeks plus, so you've gotten it at the right time.
I can really tell Judd's now, and have been really strict (on me) and him this week with his crying and self settling. He's been doing really well and getting off to sleep most of the time by himself. But the late afternoon one is a fizzer, but that's pretty normal from memory with the other 2 as well.
I've also found that they get comfortable being in their room if you pop them in the cot, just to do the vacuuming or go to the loo quickly. That way they just lay there for a bit and coo and be happy in that environment. You come back take them out, have a play then they go back in when the yawning starts.
Another thing that I've found really helps Judd is the double swaddle. He can't get his hands out to wake himself up as I was finding that he was startling awake a lot more recently.
As for AF, I haven't got it yet! He is 9 weeks on Monday and still no sign. BUT my right boob is STILL leaking!! It was nearly dried up the other week, and I had some minor colour in some discharge, and I thought, cool, here we go. But now I?m leaking quite a bit again, and the minor colour didn't seem to bring anything on and just cleared up very quickly. Normally I have a period really early after bubs is born, around 6 weeks after, but not this time.
I forgot to ask the Dr about this yesterday when I went to see her about my hands. Am on diuretics for a few weeks and if that doesn't fix things, might need some injections! Ouch!!!
Gotta go to bed. Sorry no more personals. Take care, love to your babies
AF ugh..one good thing with breastfeeding for me is that i dont see it return til bubs is almost one..yay!
Brunette lovely to hear everything is going so well for you. Goodluck with the new job..sounds ideal for you!
Hi Tash nice to hear from you..sounds like little Judd is doing really well. We havent swaddled for a while now...just too hot here!
Glad you are getting some helpful tips Amanda.
Hiya Kim and Kirsten!
Well darling miss Ruby has slept for 5 hours straight for the last three nights...clever little poppet. Its been lovely to get that bit of extra sleep and would be lovely if she continues it! Been great settling back into uni..am finding the nights hard to study as the days are a complete right off with us out and about and juggling Ruby's sleeping, changing feeding with Sammys needs as well, though I just have to stay motivated. Am looking forward to daylight saving finishing so that we can start getting ready for the night earlier..kids are still outside at 7 tonight as its so light and hot!
