There are many issues that you will encounter as a new parent. We have put together this list of useful articles and threads in order to assist you with some common questions or issues you may have, and to provide you with bit of extra support that we all need as new parents:
Please contact the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) or a Lactation Consultant if you are concerned that you may have breastfeeding and/or supply problems, and before the introduction of solids.
just a very quick one. Have skimmed the last thread. Hug to you Bath. I hope Wade gets better soon. Maybe you need to have the vcave man talk too?
Nic - you know I think your man is adorable!!
Ali - If sleeping Tori on her side works, do what's best for both of you!
everyone else, I'm sorry I'm not writing to you personally but have been running around like a chook with it's head cut off getting ready to go away tomorrow. So much to pack these days!!!!! I've put new pictures on Ryan's website!!!
grrr...I haven't had a proper day of eating since Oscar was born - you'd think when DP is home he could try to get some food into me when Oscar is taking up my energies? Nope, it's still every man for himself and now he's going to belly ache that it's taken me so long to get ready to get out to my horse, cos I need his help with some feed bags! Grrr...
hi everyone, sorry, only have time to vent cos I need a decent brekky for once!
Bath- i still use the medela manual part, its very quick isnt it! but gets your arm muscles going a bit! sorry u havent had a good sleep and day, husbands just dont understand half the time! i was speaking to my sister about how DH doesn't do all the other stuff other then the good parts with Nixon and her DH is exactly the same! ans she also said everytime he has looked after the girls they sleep the whole time and are angles! typical isnt it! Ali- Glad Tori doesn't have anything serious but i know how upsetting, frustrating reflux is.
Jess- Pat is beefing up nicely after getting over Broncilitis
IK- thanks for the hewads up re cheap nappies!
DH surprised me and took me to see Pete Murray last night! he had to work bring their bands gear in and out for them so we got on the guest list! It was just a promo tour and Sunrise put it on apparently ppl were winners and they flew them from around the country put them up and took them to the show. He only played about 6 songs but it was great, very relaxing had a few wines and nibblies (all free) and male friend (very clucky male friend) had fun babysitting for me.
Nixon woke @ 6.30am, fed him, played went back to be @ 8am, he just woke at 11.30am....(went 5hrs!)and omg exploding nappy! how could he have slept in it? i could smell as soon as i picked him up, thank god he had an infant nappy on or it would have been worse! it was half way up his back, half way up his front, all over everything including his summer body suit underneth his jumpsuit...neally 4 days worth come out in one go!
bring back daily poos please!
candy- love the pics of ryan! hehe the one with the dummy and his hands reminds me of Nixon, i love it how they are so delicate and articulate with their little fingers!
Wade is throwing a humungeous tantraum ATM... about his fourth of the day. He fell asleep between 11 and 12 noon. I thought he'd wake up in a better mood, but no, just the same, simply needed to recharge his batteries. I reckon I've spent more time in here talking about Wade than Niall since he was born! Niall BTW slept from 1am to 6.30am!!! But Wade woke us up at 3am after he came into our room wanting a bottle and a bit of a whinge as if to say "well if Niall isn't going to wake you up I'd better do it!" I didn't get angry or annoyed with him though... I guess he can't help teething and having a cold but today's tantrums are totally perplexing... flinging himself around, snot bubbles bursting out of his nose the works! I'm trying to act all serene but it's really getting to me, especially when he aims things at Niall like one of Verity's school shoes he picked up the other day Every so often I'll sit down next to him and say stuff like "so, you're feeling angry? (He'll yell "NO") or I'll try to completely take his mind off it and talk about some weird topic like caterpillars and pretend one is living under a nearby blanket and wants to be his friend... that sometimes works, gets a smile before he realises what he's doing and returns to being grumpy! LOL In the end I think he's just a human tornado and needs to just blow off his energy naturally. Thankgod I don't have to do stuff or be places... he just wouldn't co-operate at all and then I'd really get stressed out. I know it's just a phase which will pass when his teeth are through.
Hi all,
sorry I've been MIA - boy looking after a baby takes a HUGE amount of time - looking forward to some routine.
Today we went to the Hospial for a scan on Alexandra's kidneys (they were 14mm dialated at the 26 week ultrasound) - and GOOD NEWS, now they are only 2.7mm.. Which is perfectly normal... Yeah. No need for antibotics or surgery she is in perfect health.. So happy. It was such a stress, I don't know how those with more serious medical conditions have managed.
Nickers - love your snow photos - Nixon is soooooooooo cute.
Well, sorry I've not been on more, but I do think of you all and hope your doing well. Once things settle down I hope to catch up with you all again.
PS - BF is going well, she gained 250g this week, so she is getting enough milk.. Just wish it did not hurt so much.
Fantastic news Ceecee!!! What a relief that must be for you and your families! Great to hear that Alexandra is coming along so well. And yes babies do take up so much time don't they, even as a second time mum I had forgotten how much. Funny thing is when the kids are older you will actually end up realising how easy a newborn really is compared to say a toddler.
Speaking of toddlers, Bath it sounds like Wade is giving you some grief. Like you said he cant help the teething or the cold but that still doesnt help you! We are lucky in some respects that Gabriella got all her teeth by the time she was 18mths, a lot of disruption in a short period of time but at least it wasover and done with.
It looks like Alex is settling into a nice nighttime routine, bed around 8-8.30, wake up around 2.30 and then again anytime after 5. I can handle that. Now if only the days were that easy.
DH came back this morning from Perth, dropped his gear off and went straight to work leaving me to unpack 2 suitcases which I havent even attempted to do yet. Mind you most of the stuff is presents for Alex so am looking forward to that! We are very very lucky to have so many wonderful things given to us, unfort most of the clothes are winter gear that he will never ever wear as it is currently 27-29 degrees, this is our winter!!! but it looks like he has been given some cool toys.
Trying to convince DH to take me to Phuket over Xmas with the kids...anyone else been before? Truthfully Asia has never reall interested me in the past but with some of the deals out you would be mad not to consider it.
CeeCee thats excellent !!! ... All that stress for nothing hey ?? Now you can enjoy your princess without anymore medical intervention
Gabysmum - never been to phuket , but have been to kuala lumpur , bali , singapore and bangkok - Asia didnt interest me much either , but once your there its actually really interesting.... ok ok , all i remember is that the alcohol is cheap
does anyone have a really low pulse rate?? ive posted this in another thread aswell. But my pulse was 110 during pregnancy , and now its 49...

Don't have a low pulse rate and unsure what that means either...sorry cant help there. Is that related to low blood pressure tho?
What was Bangkok like? I couldnt imagine it would be as "kid friendly" as a beach resort in Phuket, although I've heard the shopping is great in Bangkok!!
It was extremely crowded ( especially the traffic ) ... quite sad actually, because our hotel room was facing on to the slums...people were living in huts that were falling apart next to a dirty river... i always feel sorry for people in countries like that ..it was a good place to see when I was 20 like u say cheap food / clothes etc but i wouldnt go now that I have Aneta..
I heard Phuket is a decent place , and your right its sooo cheap to fly over there now - lucky you if u get to go !
Thanks for understanding Gabysmum... I'm at my wits end with Wade.... it's so hard! I am seriously considering putting him into daycare for a day or two a week. Perhaps he is bored at home and now with the new baby I just can't give him the attention he seems to require, all I seem to do is reprimand him all day. He just wanders around the house being destructive eg tipping the dining chairs over CRASH every time i sit down to feed Niall then wandering into the pantry or opening the fridge (I DO feed him, but he usually doesn't eat it even if it's what he asked for)... I'm having to stop feeding and chase after him all day! I've tried finding an activity to do whilst feeding like reading a book or doing a puzzle but some times he just doesn't want to do that and wanders off. I'm so sorry about venting in here about him all the time but the buddy group for his agegroup has been closed probably because the people with toddlers his age are too busy chasing their toddlers around to post on here!!! I notice Jo and karen aren't on here as much... *sigh* now I remember why I returned to work when Verity was this age!
CeeCee: I'm soooo happy for you darl! You must be so relieved
