    Hello Everyone,
I hope you all don't mind me jumping in here but I've recently subscribed to BellyBelly (this week) and I would love to join in on your discussions as I have some questions too regarding my 10 month old. He's my first and all of this (being a mum) is all new to me. I grew up without babies or children around me (I had no cousins or friends near us who had children) so to begin with I didn't know what I was doing with my baby. Everyday is a learning experience with Christian but I treasure everyday I have with him and I wouldn't change a thing.

I would like to mention to MumofLewis that Christian also moves around so much in his cot when he is trying to get to sleep (I thought it was just Christian who did this!) and then when he is asleep I have to go in there often to cover him with blankets! But sometimes that goes wrong because he feels me (or hears me) in the room and wakes up. I wanted to ask you about the sleeping bag you use with your son, how long has he been using it? Did he take to it ok? I've been thinking of using one with Christian but I'm worried he'll see it as a restraint preventing him from rolling in his cot and crawling in there. So far he's a pretty good sleeper but when he was first born we had a very very rough time regarding his sleeping so I dont' want to put this on him and have to start from zero with getting him to sleep again.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experience on this.

    Regards,
    Pam

    Hi Pam,

Welcome! Great to have new mums and bubs in here (and Dad's too Dragonstorm!) What date was Christian born and what does he get up to? Is he a good boy?

Regarding sleeping bags, I bought a 0.5 tog (summer) gro bag when Lewis was about 4 months old because I unwrapped him early. He's always been fine in it and can still roll about as normal. The winter one I put him in this week is a thick 2.5 tog and is really long so I was worried he wouldn't be able to roll about but he is still fine. I think they like feeling secure and warm in them. My SIL told me her little one didn't like his because he couldn't stand up in it so I am waiting to see if Lewis gets frustrated by that. I have a few, one was $11 from Big W and I also got a Bonds fleece one.

Not sure how the other girls find using them?? They've all disappeared so not sure if they will answer......

Thank you so much for that. I don't know if I should get him a sleeping bag now because Christian does stand up and walk along his cot when he wakes or when I put him down for a nap in the day he sometimes decides "no, I don't want to sleep right now I want to stand and bang the wall really hard" once he gets that out of his system he sits down, lays down and goes to sleep. Thankfully he doesn't do this much anymore. We have a baby-camera in his room so I can see what he's doing and it's very handy in the morning when my husband goes to work I turn on the camera and I watch him, once I can see that he's waking up I quickly get up and shower. So getting back to the sleeping bag, I can just see him getting frustrated and angry if he can't stand with a sleeping bag on. I had thought that he might be too big for it anyway. I did used to wrap him, as we were taught in the hospital, but I never liked it much because he never liked. We were all pleased when he learnt to roll over at 5 months old and from then on he's slept on his tummy and still does He never slept on his back again, I wonder if he will again.

Christian is a very good boy He sleeps straight through every night, he goes to bed around 7.30pm and wakes at 7am every morning. He never wakes in the night but that doesn't mean I get a good nights sleep. I still wake wondering if he's ok, if he's covered, has he dropped in dummy, there's always something. In the day he has his 2 to 3 naps in the day and we go for a walk every day with Daisy (our dog) and Milly (our cat), yes she follows us too, meowing all the way. The biggest worry I have with him is that we have no interaction with other babies or mums - any adult really.

But it's good to be able to 'talk' to other mums on BellyBelly Thanks for listening.

Before I forget: Christian was born on Tuesday at 3.23pm on 19th June 2007

Hi all! Sorry, am very busy at present as I have started a new job working on the days when my husband isn't at work, so we're both flat out. Tomorrow I work form 8.30 -2.30 so starting to get busier.

Welcome Pam! And all will be well meegm, and congrats Lira, boy hard to keep up with you girls!

Angus continues to be a lovely boy, and very active. He tried to stand from kneeling without hanging on to anything today, didn't work so well but he is really nearly there. I think he is about to get another tooth too.

Does anyone elses baby push them away when they are holding them sometimes? Sometimes Angus pushes away from me like he doesn't want to be held, not sure if this is about wanting to be standing and walking or if he hasn't learnt about hugs yet. I would love for him to be huggy, he's usually so on the move he doesn't stop for kisses unless I grab him.

Hi everyone, wow it has been pretty quiet in here!

    Welcome to all the newbies.

New Mummy, with the sleeping bag thing, my boy always stands, moves around his cot. he wears a target brand, size 1 and have found that he still can stand up and move around the cot pretty well. I walk in and he is standing up in his cot with his sleeping bag on, so maybe give a try and just see how he goes. I to am constantly having to cover him and yes sometimes wakes him! I feel heaps better knowing he has the sleeping bag on him cos I no he wont be cold.

Dane is going really well, never stops. Walking all around the house, into everything! he now weighs 11.8kg and is 75cm long. whats everyone else's stats?? He eats alot of the same dinners as us now, often the following night after we have it, but he loves my cooking so that is a bonus! I think someone asked me before if i changed much of my recipe and no, I never have used much salt in my cooking, so I still dont. But when it comes to garlic and all that he just gets what we have. He even ate lamb korma curry and I found it to be a little spicy, but he loved it ! He's also on a thing where he really likes to feed himself, i can get maybe half way thru a meal and he will start carrying on grabbing the spoon and trying to play with the food. In the end i give up and put it on his tray so he can feed himself. Anyone else going thru this phase?

Feathertop - cuddles! Oh i hear ya! Dane is exactly the same and always has been from birth. When he was a real lil bub, if you touched him when he didnt want it he would move away and just let me no that he doesnt want it. I am in the same thought that maybe he doesnt no what a cuddle is, but when he does he will freely dish them out! fingers crossed anyway. I do get some cuddles, like when I first pick him up out of his cot and when he is really sleepy. Also i sit on the ground with my legs and arms open and say come and cuddle mum and he will walk over and give me a quick cuddle. He also will try and wriggle out when i am holding him or let his leg grip go of my hip, but I put that down to him wanting to get down and walk.

    hope everyone is doing well!

oh, i have some pictures in the BB gallery, i have a pic that you can see his baltic amber teething necklace.

Hi! Congrats meegm & lira - yay!!! And welcome New Mummy!

New mummy - my DD#2 sleeps exactly the same, right through, similar times and yet I am the same as you, checking, checking, checking, hehe. Re: sleeping bags - I love them!! I must admit that I do sleep a tad better when she is in one because I know that it won't matter how much she squirms and worms around at least she'll be warm. She does wake sometimes so I either just slip her back under the blanket (if its extra cold), give her head a kiss and quietly leave or give her a gentle cuddle.....love those coz that's when she snuggles right in! I have a more quilted bag (2.5tog) as well as a lighter bag (1.0tog) and if its just that little bit warmer, I just pop her in the lighter bag with only her nappy on.
But it certainly hasn't stopped her from being mobile!! DD#1 worked out how to stand up in hers! A friend of ours, her little girl worked out that if she poked her toes right in the bottom corners of the bag she could shuffle around as well, lol

Missbanana - wow your little one is going great guns!! DD#2 has worked out how to pull herself up onto her feet using the lounge etc and only the other day she did her first shuffle along! I couldn't believe it!

Actually the past 2 weeks has been filled with milestones - standing, shuffling, clapping, copying the puppy next door....... oh and blowing kisses. Every now and then she will play peekaboo behind a cloth too, very cute.

Thankfully she's remained healthy as DD#1 & I have been sick this week with the flu, blerk. Bizarrely enough mine began with a massive bout of mastitis - again, blerk!
Just last bits of cold type stuff now - DD#1 is struggling with the blocked nose poor lovey. It was a bit yucky when she first came down with it all as her temp got up to 39.7!! But the little sausage could still talk the ear off a deaf man at 10o'clock at night!! (while mummy and daddy are falling over from exhaustion!!! )

Best be off as #2 due to wake up soon and #1 is crying at the drop of a hat.....not very helpful in keeping #2 asleep!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, bbl

    Mwa!!
