hi there
i was just wondering what your 14 month olds are doing now... in particular who has transitioned to one day sleep? how many 'up' hours do they now have between naps/sleeps?

darling dd was on an approximate routine of waking around 7am, napping around 1030am for about an hour, then another nap around 3pm for an hour.... now it seems if she goes down in the morning she certainly wont be having another sleep in the afternoon... so i am doing the balancing act of trying to time it just perfectly, if i put her down to early she carries on in her cot for over an hour, if i leave it too late it can stuff things up and she only sleeps for 40 mintues for the whole day...

it seems i need to maybe keep her up til about midday then put her down and hope she takes a decent sleep (1.5 hours is decent for her)... annoying that it is right at lunch time though!!

just curious as to what other same age or similar babies are up to. she goes to bed around 8pm, sometimes 7.30pm if i am lucky.

Hi Emma. Claire usually has two sleeps a day , although occasionally she has one sleep particularly if she woke up later than usual. Most days she wake around 7am, has a nap around 9:30-10ish for 1.5 hours or so, another nap around 2pm for about 2 - 2.5 hours, then goes to sleep at night at around 7:30-8pm. But today, she woke up late (around 9am) and just had one long nap in the middle of the day from about 12 - 3, and I put her in bed around 8.

Last night Claire, poor thing, spewed in her bed. She didnt cry and I didnt hear her wake up at all, so it mustnt have bothered her much.. but when I went to get her out of bed this morning, it was a bit stinky! It was chunky spew too, not just milk spew. I had to wash her bed, and move the cot and clean the carpet under the cot because thats where half the spew went. There was lots of spew. I had to put the mattress in the sun. She seemed ok today though, so not sure what happened there, although she does have a snotty nose. It was a bit strange though as most nights she wakes up and calls for us at around 2am, sometimes also around 4am, but last night I didnt hear a peep out of her at all.

Get this everyone : someone I know from high school, had a baby last week and she didnt even know she was pregnant. Amazing! I am so very amazed that someone can be pregnant and not know that theyre pregnant until they pop the baby out! She had a super fast labour too and ended up giving birth at home then went to hospital in an ambulance. Stayed in hospital for a few days while her family bought and set up all the stuff for the nursery. OMG! I dont know. I am just amazed that someone can be pregnant and have no idea. Wouldnt you notice changes in your body? I saw a pic of her taken a few weeks ago at a wedding and she didnt look pregnant, so I guess she didnt get a belly? but wierd still.

Can I ask you ladies if your bubs are saying any actual words that you can recognise? People keep on asking me what claire can say, but she isnt really saying anything. I know that she can understand many things we say to her, like she knows sit down, up, bath, dont ... and a bunch of other words too. But she only babbles, and doesnt say any words that we can actually work out that they are words, iykwim. I'm not worried, just curious! hope everyone is well!

Emma - Emy only has one nap a day, and has been like that for ages. She wakes up anywhere between 6:30 and 8:30, then has her nap from about 11:30-12ish, depending on what we are doing (sometimes it is a bit later). And she will nap for anywhere from 1 hour to 2 1/2 hours, very rarely going for 3. It doesn't bother me too much that it is smack in the middle of lunch time. I usually eat while she is asleep, and feed her when she has woken up. But if I am putting her in bed later than usual, then I will feed her before her sleep.

Karina - Emy doesn't really say anything that anyone but those of us that are always around can recognise. She can say daddy quite clearly, but mummy is still pretty much unrecognisable. I think maybe she is still trying to find how to got her mouth around it. She also tries to say dog, but it is more of a "do", quite a sharp sounding word. And she has just started saying "emyemyemyemyemy" - it actually took my mum to point out that she was trying to say her own name, and she says it when she wants something. Like she will point at her water bottle, or the biscuit jar, or the TV remote, and go "emyemyemyemyemy" - and the poor thing, unless it is her water bottle, it is more often than not, a big fat "No" for her.

But yeah, most of her talking is just random noises, but she doesn't ever stop! I can't believe how much she talks! As if she is my kid!

She is such a funny ittle coot - she has been running through the house the last couple of days playing with her toys, and then comes running at me, usually in the kitchen, and hugs my legs, and wants to be picked up. Then put down again, and repeat. I LOVE the leg hugs she gives! So much better than a at around your ankles!

And then the other day, she was playing with her walker toy thing which I think is v-tech, so makes a bit of noise, and encourages her to play and walk with it (not that she needs it! by the time she stopped being scared of it, she could already walk really well on her own). Anyway, now she just likes to make as much noise as possible with it. So she was playing with it, when she accidently ran into her activity table thing, and noticed the crash that it made. And she decided that was fun, and so then backed up, and belted into the table again and again, squealing with laughter! She was having sooooooooooooo much fun, and I felt really bad having to stop her having so much fun, but then she decided to attack the furniture, and that just wasn't on!

Anyway, after almost 2 years (since June 9 2006) in total, and nearly 6 months since I stopped breastfeeding completely (since 27 November), I FINALLY got my period back on Sunday!!!! But it is really weird, coz I used to get so much pain that I have vomited from it, and now I have absolutely no pain at all! So bizarre! But I'm not complaining! It should be pain free all the time, as far as I'm concerned!

Anyhoo, better go - it's a bit chilly, and I was wii fit-ing (gotta lose at least 20kg before I get pregnant again, so don't want it to take too long!), so i'm just in t-shirt and shorts, and want to get warm...

Cass - I laughed so much as well! I was half between a laugh and cry lol! Stupid period! Thank god its finished!!! hehe can DTD again and again an again! YaA! I would have to agree with you there! I think its actually worst then torture!
Congrats to your friend! Ive got a friend that is 4 weeks preg, found out last monday!

Emma - Izzys rountine usually consists off wakes at 0630/0700 will go back down for a nap around 1100 to 1300/1400 then will go back to sleep at 1600 for half an hour and goes to bed at 1900!
But some days change if we're out an about she'll only get one sleep.

Karina - Poor clair hope shes feeling better! Izzy can say quite a few words clearly (at times she says them better then her brother) She can say mum, dad, hello, ta, bub, here, bath, dog, Izzy, good girl, No, yes, yea, Owwww. If she would like soemthing she either points to it and says ta or here. She loves bath time and will race to the bath just repeating it bathbathbath. If she sees a sore she'll look at it going owww! Very cute! hehe! Tell you No if your telling her not to do something.


Ali - i love the leg hugs to its so cute! hehe izzy loves raming her toys into things too! And she loves bashing them on the walls! Must make a great noise in her ears because it certainly doesnt in mine! lolz! OMG 2 years wow I got my peroids back while breastfeeding izzy! But so happy that most of the pain has stoped too! I still get a little bit but it isnt the omg stuck in bed cant move for two days that it was before Izzy!


Well my little angel has almost finished her fruit platter the kids got banna, manderin and apple today for morning tea they loving it! Izzy is such a fruit and veg girl! Not one thing drops! Then its time for bed! and i have to hang out the washing and do my assignment! bla!

Emma, Oskar usually only has one sleep a day too, and if it's timed right it's generally through lunch time also!! If he has an earlier sleep it's usually only an hour at most and SOMETIMES I can get him to have one later (generally if I go out in the car he'll fall asleep in the arvo ). He will sleep anywhere from 45 mins to 2 hourish.... it's a pain sometimes...lol.

Ali, lol @ Emy, they're funny little things aren't they! Ooooooh on AF... I've just had my 3rd...I tell ya I was sooooo enjoying not having them at all! Yay on no pain for you though, that's great!

Karina, maybe Claire just ate too much or something?? Hope she's ok. With words, Oskar has started to say cow... it sounds really cute too cos he kinda says it more like cooow if that makes sense. The thing is ALL animals are now cows and go ooo ooo apparently! So, he says cow, mum, dad, bub, ta, car and also "go car" and he says ba for either more or boob (depending what it is he wants) and in his own way says guitar - you know that's what he's trying to say it's kinda like catar...lol. OMG @ not knowing you're pregnant!! I couldn't imagine that at all! I LOVED my bump so I'd be upset...lol.

I better go, I have Oskar at my feet trying to get me to pick him up and I can't type then....

thanks for the replies, i guess i just have to follow her lead, i think i'll try to give her two sleeps and just see how it pans out...

in regards to talking, hollie has a few things that she has been saying for a few months, and she seems to say a new word every so often.... not sure what your stance is on television (not starting a debate!!) but we have some baby bumble bee dvd's and she has only watched them a few times but has said about 5 new words that i didnt teach her (bus, ball, cup, cow etc)...

at the moment she says teddy, mum-mum, daddy, duck, ball, cow, cup, bus, dog, clock - she understands everything we say and can sometimes follow requests... (go and get teddy etc)... i must say the more she learns the more amazed i am and the more i enjoy it, the interaction is awesome, the more she grows the more i fall in love with her... awwwwwwwwwww didnt mean to get so soppy!!!!

Hey all -
Just went for my post op at the hosp everythings fine healing well i was in an out in 60secs BUT still had to wait in the waiting room for 1 1/2hours before hand GRR.
The weather is driving me crazy its sooo cold and wet! Trying to get a baby out of the car and inot the pram in the soaking rain is hard work!
I gotta go Izzy;'s ready for her nap! I think i might join her!

Cass, great to hear everything is fine now after your op.

It hailed here the other day. Fark it was freezing and I forgot my stupid umbrella so had to walk home from the bus stop in the freezing hail. DH is such a dag though. He went outside and got some hail, put it in a freezer bag and put it in the freezer. hehehe dork!

Claire is going well. We had heaps of fun at the park yesterday. She absolutely loves the see saw and the swings. She wont go on the swing by herself though. She screams as soon as I put her in, but she is happy to go on the swing if I am on it as well. She just laughs hysterically when she is on the swing or see-saw. Fussy little lady she is. Still no words here, but she loves to babble. She is having a nap now and she babbled herself to sleep just before - bababababa dub dub dub dub dub. I'd love to know what she is trying to say. I went on a bit of a spending frenzy and bought her a stack of new clothes at the Bonds shop and all this stuff from Ikea. I really need to leave my wallet at home sometimes I think.

It was dH's birthday last week and his mum and dad are coming to visit on the weekend. I so cant be bothered! I know that sounds awful but I'm just not in the mood for people to come here and crticise everything I do as a parent.

I've been looking at houses to move into. We live in a tiny 2 bedroom unit at the moment (sydney is frickin expensive!) and its driving me slightly insane. I'd love a little bit more space, especially for when Claire starts to get bigger and when we have another baby (we arent trying yet, but will one day!). A backyard that is easy to access would be great too. We have a shared yard, but its just not the same.

Well better go. I have a big fat assignment to do. I have to write lots of words and make myself sound smart. which I'm not really. lol.

Nothing much to tell you about going on here - we have been pretty boring lately!

Anyway, just coming in to say Hi!

Hi from us too!! I was going to come and say hi last night but obviously I didn't...lol.

We haven't been doing too much lately either. Oskar has now got 3 molars and his third top tooth on the left has just cut through in the last day or 2, didn't even know until I saw it today when I was changing his nappy! So, we're up to 8 now. *touch wood* he's such a good teether. He's pulling himself up on everything but not walking unaided as yet which is fine with me!!!

Well, today we went to IKEA - which is a fairly new one and OMG I didn't realise how HUGE it was!! It was ENORMOUS and omg do they have some coooooool stuff! I want to get Oskar's bed from there, they are awesome, they are extendable! So when they're little it's all squashed up and has built in bed rails and as they get bigger you extend the bed and the rails "disappear". Oh and I could spend sooooo much money there....hahahaha lucky for me Andy is now on monthly pay or we'd be in trouble! I was quite amazed that going to a furniture store could be so much fun!

Anyway, hope you are all well! Sarah, when are you guys coming down again?? Feels like forever since I spoke to you.

OMG Cass, We went to Ikea yesterday. I saw the extendable bed too. What a cool idea! We ended up getting a little table and chair set for Claire. She absolutely loves sitting at the table at daycare so we got her one for home. We built it as soon as we got home and she was so excited to see it, and went straight over to sit at it. We also got her a roll of paper and some crayons at IKEA and she sat at the table and drew all over the paper. I think I'm going to use it as wrapping paper for presents, lol. She loved it. We also used it for her to sit at for her dinner tonight, as she hates sitting in the highchair. She ate well at the table although she did decide to stand up and walk across the room with her bowl and then drop it on the floor. OMG I could just go crazy and spend so much money at ikea... which is bad... because its only 10 minutes from my house.

Other than IKEA, Claire has now got 8 teeth. She got 4 teeth all at once. She has 4 at the top and 4 at the bottom. So cute. I took her shopping to get a book for her and she gave such a cheezy grin when I was paying for it. So cute.

Claire is now sleeping crappily. Anyone else finding their babes are now waking up alot through the night? She was sleeping so well, but now wakes up 3 - 4 times overnight and wont go back to sleep without boobie?

hello there
ive spent the last four weeks working full time, just temporarily while someone is away and i've found my dd has grown in leaps and bounds during that time... i'm not sure if i've noticed it because i haven't been around much, but it just seems like she's a real little person now.... not sure if i had spent all day-every day with her, if i would have seen such a huge difference, if that makes sense.

she is saying the most random cute stuff like:
tennis ball
beans
BEER (!!)
skettie (spaghetti)
and whenever i ask her something like 'want to see teddy and have a nap?' she says "NOOOOOO!" and it seems to be in a scottish accent (from my mum) haha

if you ask her 'where's the moon?', she points up and shouts SKY!

its such a cute age.... i can't help feeling like i'm missing a whole heap of stuff while i'm at work.... anyone else out there a working mum?

usually i just do part time 3 days a week which i can cope with, but full time is another story. not long to go though.

Hi everyone

I hope you dont mind me popping in. I used to post in the due in March 07 thread but i guess time has just gotten away and was going through my Favourites list and found this site again.

I have a son Riley who was born on the 22nd March 07. He is running everywhere. Also sleeps at lunchtime for around 3 hrs and sleeps on single bed mattress on his bedroom floor as he just hated his cot, just flat out refused to sleep in it, but sleep great now he is in a bed, and he has 11 teeth.......i noticed today he cut his 3rd molar. He has been sick this last week and in hospital. Then got hives from head to toe from the 1st lot of antibiotics they put him on. So has not been a fun week here.

I work part time 3 days a week and Riley goes to daycare, which he loves. I also have a 12 yr old daughter who is a great help.

I hope i will be able to chat to you and get to know you. But if you would rather i didnt thats ok too, i will understand as you would all know each other pretty well by now.........

i have a spare cot mattress on the floor of my dd's room which she has started showing interest in, likes to lay on it etc.... i think i could maybe get her to sleep on it at night, but no chance during the day, she'd just get up and walk out of her room... so for that reason think i will keep her in the cot for a bit longer.... i have no idea how i will get her to sleep in a bed she can get out of during the day!! and im not ready to say goodbye to daytime naps just yet. eeeek!

Well I am feeling very jealous as Ari has a total of ....wait for it ... 6 teeth hehe and she is still pretty bald. Have to post some new pics but she is just gorgeous. She still has two sleep 90% of the time although I think she is transitioning to one. She is still a delight, although apparently she is a bit of a bully at daycare and they want to move her up to the toddler room as the other babies are 6-8mths younger than her and she's a bit bored.

Well this week has been horrible, Izzy caught a stomach bug and has been vomitting and diarrea (sp?) for 4 days straight! It has not been nice to watch her be a shadow of her self. Shes been sleeping heaps wouldnt eat but would take in some fluids. And the worst part was there is nothing i can do except hold her in my arms. shes been sleeping in our ed for the last couple of nights so i can keep an eye on her. The doctor couldn't do anything except let it run its corse.

Thats all i got , i really have to go try study for this stupid exam i have tomorrow. But im so worried about izzy I just cant think straight! And I know she will be fine but im her mum and allowed to stress (sorry defending my self early here i've had so many people ask why im stressing and telling me to 'get over it', a little on edge)

Just popping in to say hi, still alive...lol.

I think we all must be busy these days. I get on and don't get too much time anymore as Oskar wants me to play...lol. It's quite funny being in a toddler's world, it's all very interesting and exciting and I love watching how small things amuse him or completely fascinate him. He's walking around furniture and the walls and last night we had him take a few steps on his own going between both of us...he was quite excited about that. He got 3 teeth from 1st June to the 12th! lol... quite a good effort I thought. Just waiting on the 4th molar to even him up.

Tash, welcome and feel free to pop in anytime. As you can see, we've slowed down heaps in here, all busy with little ones and not as much time to natter away

Sarah, lol don't worry about her teeth! Don't forget how fast she did other things, she's got to let some others in front occasionally...haha. Can't wait for you guys to come down again!!! I keep thinking about having a cheesecake and coffee with you again..noooooorrrrrty!!! mmmmm yumbo though.

Cass, I hope little Izzy gets better really soon and pffft to those people telling you to get over it! That's just rude! Of course you're going to be worried, that's quite natural and to be honest, part of your job as a mummy.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted for ages. Pregnancy going well, although was sick the other day - ate some spicy stuff and I think it was just too rich, ended up throwing up a couple of times but am OK now. Baby still moving around a lot so that's a good sign! I'm looking forward to hitting 30 weeks, don't really know why, just seems like a milestone!

A few other threads I have to check out plus emails to write so I'll be quick and sorry if I miss anyone!

Sarah, I can understand Ari getting bored if the other babies are so much younger than she is. They change so much from week to week at this age, she's way advanced compared to them!

Cass, of course you're going to worry, how silly of people to tell you not to. S had a cold recently with quite a high fever and I found it so hard to sleep! Spent half the night with him on my lap in the rocking chair! Hope Izzy is feeling better.

Cass, kwim about the interest in everything. I'm loving this age and I just had a bit of a pang recently when I realised I'm starting all over from the beginning again soon and how tiring it is (but then I guess you get to enjoy this age all over again with the next one!)

S is sleeping well at the beginning of the night but has been waking at 3:30!!! most mornings, TOO EARLY for me... I've been putting him back to bed after rocking him and stroking his head and letting him know he needs to sleep a little longer, and he does doze off a bit but usually only for another half an hour or so. Not sure what I can do to make him sleep longer - I've started putting him to bed just a bit later each night but it doesn't appear to be helping so far

So it's Friday night and not even 9 pm and I'm already thinking I should be in bed! Have a good weekend everyone!
