Will and I have started walking to except my lazy butt is not a fan of excercise which is probably why I am so huge anyway *L* but I am enjoying it.they arent huge walks atm but it has been nice to be outside more.
Will had the fussiest day of his short life yesterday and it sort of threw me because he has been so chilled. He didnt sleep for more than 20 mins all day and was really grizzly. We figured he he having a bit of a growth spurt as he fed constanlty then slept form 8.30 till 2.oo am which was great then woke at 6 for a feed from daddy then went back for another 2 hours had a feed from me and has gone back to sleep again. Think he is making up for yesterday.
Shell I know what you mean about big days out and fussy boys I know WIll doesnt settled to well if he has been carted from pillar to post and had too much stimulation. Its a fine line isnt it between having to get on with life and having them settled.its the only way to learn i Guess and besides I am glad to have some days not going anywhere or doing anything myself *L*
Prama its so hard when people feel they have free reign to comment and dont realise how we take comments especially about our babies. I know when I was at work I always use to open my arms as wide as posisble and say to people that normal fits in bewteen here and here and and kids fit in anywhere. Dont feel bad at all your boy is perfect and doing so well. I have found myself being a little bit more assertive when it comes to peoples comments about things and it kind of shocks them.My fav is to say "yep and it works for us"!Im with teachmumm you just say yep perfect isnt he.

We wrap Will up and some nights he fighs it all the way but it definatley helps him sleep better in fact if I hear him grunting and carrying on during the night its always becasue he has unwrapped himself ( I dont do it as well as daddy) I do know he will get too big for it soon enough so mum has made him some little sleep sacks with the mittens in them so he can go to bed in those.

A question for you all. I wanted to open a bank account in Wills name as his UK grandma wants to send him money each week and so does my brother who is also his godfater. Does anybody know is it the same as adults do I need birth certificate ( which is over 6 weeks waiting now) can I use a medicare card? is it best to open in his name or to have it in trust? I know people will give him money etc for birthdays etc and I wanted to start him off on a good savings record too.

Welcome Paula the girls are right we do like to talk but dont feel you have to keep up or address everybody we are all in the same boat busy most days some nights not and talk like crazy when we get a chance its a great place to vent get advice and share stuff about our bubs.

Hey girls can you send some of that rain our way its so dry out here :-( I do feel for those stuck inside as I know if I was at work and it was raining I would be going mental by now *L

Ok better go do some chores instead of surfing the net like I need another excuse not to iron..

Bron we are going to open a bank account for Flynn too. From what I've read yes you need the birth certificate. My grandfather who was an accountant was suggesting a trust is better cos of interest and how they are taxed differently than regular savings acc. But I haven't looked into it closely yet so I can't say which is better. Sorry, not very helpful

I'm going to open an acct for him too. Bron - we were told that birth certs will take up to 8 weeks in NSW.

sorry will do more personals later, we had friends over and im tired.. 1 couple with a 5 and 1.5yr old and another with 7 and 4.
I was telling them how unfair it is that Poopy looks like DH after all my hard work over the 9mths. and one of the girls said that babies look like their father at the start, so that the fathers' know the baby's theirs and they dont walk out. interesting theory, huh.

Molly Jane slept from 9pm-5am! i got such a shock when i looked at the time and i feel great this morning.
going to quickly try and do personals before i get called away.

BANK ACCOUNTS - we opened a bank acc for DSS years ago and i didnt have the birth cert - it is in both mine and his name and converst to his at 18... dont know if this helps. Please keep me posted on what u all do as i want an account for Molly that earns high interest... BTW kids accounts shouldnt be taxed at all (or at least they never use to)

PRAMA - dont worry about the comments, people aways have to make a comment of some type, maybe it is a vaildation on their part to make them feel better as your kid is cuter than theirs!!!

TEACH- thanks for the ear info, Mollys ears stick out a bit (like her dads)... i wouldnt like to do the taping thou, what if i gt it wrong - imagine if your baby wore a hat all the time and you forced them forward LOL that would be what happend to me if i tried to do something!

TRINA - sorry that your kids are driving you mad, it is awful that it has rained everyday. The school hols are different in the states, DSS had his with the easter break - makes this term a long one though.

PAULA - welcome, look forward to getting to know you, glad you told us your first name, as i have a habit of shortening names when i type and i dont think i could bringmyself to write tubby when i was talking to you!!!!

Sorry if i forgot anyone that i shoud have commented to.

Been a hectc week, DH dad has been unwell - i think i mentioned it before - anyway on thursday i was asked to go to an appoint with them as i am a nurse and can better explain what the drs say... turns out he has complete heart failure and has been admitted to hossy - in a very bad way, he hasgone down hill very quickly and lost huge amounts of weight, he still possible has lung and prostate cancer, but is so unwell they can not do any biopsys as it would kill him....
On top of that DSS mum is nt coping with life and i am being her support (?????) she went into hospital with an infcted finger over the weekend and i had to explain to her that she needs to keep her pain and discomfort from her son as he does not have the coping skills to deal with her being in tears contnually and being cross at him... she just kept saying that she felt better with him around so wanted him to come to hospital with her honestly what a selfish cow its an infected finger or god sake. we couldnt pick him up straight away as she wanted him to run her a bath, wash her hair for her and then do the dishes and get the washing in so she didnt have to do it. She also told me that he had to do all the cooking and food prep that week - poor kid it breaks my heart
On top of that DH uncle who passed away, his son recently kicked a pretty bad drug habit and is likly to go back to it, so we have been trying to make sue that he is ok, dinner a couple of nights a week and has gone to the factory with DH a couple of times and DH has taught him how to weld... trying to keep his mind occupied

Sorry vent over - i just get a bit low with everything that is going on... DH and i are givers and sometimes i think that we need some time for us...

As Poopy's getting older, he's sleeping longer. He was good yesterday afternoon when we had friends over, only the mums, 2 of them, carried him and he didnt fuss. and he slept from 10ish right up to 7am. i hope all your bubs sleep longer when they get to his age.
But i woke up at 3 cos my boobs were sore, and went back at 3.30. i had to take panadol as im still getting shooting pains/hot needle pains.

trina - the mums yesterday were also on the verge on insanity cos of rain during school hols!

last night for the first time in 2 weeks jazz DID NOT sleep through the night and that was a big shock! She had bad wind. Lately shes been very grissley when shes not being held, shes so clingy and i hope she grows out of this soon.

My bubs always gets milk drunk except for her feed before her night time bed time, - the one at 5 and then at 8pm. when she is wide awake and just wants to play, even after we give her a bath!. I am finding it hard to get her to have some play time after her feed during the day (which is what I hear is what we should be trying to do - feed - play - sleep) - she just always crashes out. Is this a common problem? Any solutions for changing a babies timetable?

Kanda is Lila really hungry before the feed? i find if i have had to make Molly wait (in the car or something like that) she crashes quicker, where as if i give her a feed as soon as she gets a bit hugry she will play for longer. Although sometimes this is a hinderence as she will be awake for 2 hours and want to play the whole time then want another feed!
What is your feeding routine like... do you demand feed or have set times?
I tried the set times for 3 days and it just didnt work for us, it buggered around with her evening and bedtime routine (feed, burp, play, bath, change, feed, burp, bed)
not sure if that has been of any help at all

I've never had much success in the past trying to change my babies routines, especially at this young age. Personally I find it easier to follow their lead and demand feed. If they feed and sleep great, if they want to play .

You could try moving the bath earlier in the night. Maybe playtime could be a quiet one. Sometimes if Paddy is wide awake in the early hours I put him in his cot (he usually sleeps in a hammock or in my bed if DH is at work and I'm knackered) and turn on his mobile. It shines stars and moons on the ceiling and plays classical music or lullabies. He loves it but I don't interact with him much, just wait for him to get tired so I can feed again or put him to sleep. HTH

SJ sorry to hear about your run of bad luck. Isn't it amazing how resilient kids can be? Your must make sure you tell DSS how proud you are that he has done such a good job helping his idiot of a mother (OK yu can leave some of that out). The taping of the ears didn't look very complicated. The mum does it herself. She uses that white tape that's a bit see through.

Danni I'm sure Jazz will have you in a new routine in no time .

...I demand feed Lila too, I was just wondering if because she was wide awake at the times around the 5 and 8pm feeds (or there abouts) that maybe she thought it was earlier in the day? she does sleep a lot in the mornings and may be she is 3 hours out of wack? . Maybe if I try to keep her awake in the morning she may become more tired at night?

Last night she slept from 8.30 to 3am though, that is the longest she has slept eva! fantastic to have 6 hours sleep ...I feel so refreshed!!!!

Summer is usually wide awake between that time too, she is usually pretty overtired in the evenings as a lot of the time her day sleeps have been interrupted from having to take the kids somewhere. I feed her, bath her, have some quiet time (well try to with noisy kids around) feed her again then put her to bed, she is usually wide eyed when i put her down and depending on how over tired she is depends on how quickly she nods off, most of the time i have to go in a couple of times give her a pat for a few seconds then go out again. We are still wrapping, especially during the night, night time i use a kiddapottamus wrap that velcro's down, keeps her nice and warm too.

SJ you poor thing!! just what you need your DH ex relying on you and confiding in you... Poor little DSS he's gonna grow up way to quick living with her, he needs to be a kid for as long as possible. Hope DH's dad is ok, you guys have had a rough trot lately hope things get better real quick.....

When i opened a bank account years ago i needed a birth certificate but i think if it is in your name and your child's name then you don't???? Children's bank accounts should have no fees or taxes..

I had a big weekend taught Paige to ride a big bike with no training wheels only took a few hours clever little thing, before we knew it we were riding around our street. Sunday was very busy, we went bike riding, then i went to the gym i actually ran for the first time in a LONG time, then the whole family came up to the horse and i rode him and gave him a wash, we got home then i sat out in the street watching the girls ride up and down....

I am not losing weight the scales are all over the place even going up.... Very very annoying..... I am exercising heaps and being good food wise. I guess i just have to be patient.

I totally admire all you girls with other kiddies that you have to get off to school.
DSS wet the bed overnight (no wonder with what is going on at the mo) so i had that to deal with this morning as well as getting him off to school which is at least a half an hour drive (times like these that you wish they lived closer) and feed MJ before hand - i know this nothing to you girls taht do it all the time, but when it is sort of thrust apon you, it takes a bit of getting use to - anyway had him at school by 8.30 so he could have a play and managed to rememebr to do his lunch
Anyway we may have him for a bit longer, which is fine by us as he is a good kid and we love having him around.
We had a big chat with him and told him that although he doesnt mind staying and 'looking after' his mum (let me again remind you all that it is a f**king infected FINGER!!!!!) that he is a child and should not have to have this responsibility and that it is OK to want to come to our place and be a kid.
We made sure that he felt like a kid all weekend to make up for the crappy week that he had - not fair
To top it off i have had her on the phone twice this morning as she cant cope ahhhhhhhhhhh

Teach it will be one of the active ingredents that is in Advil - i will look it up...

Trina - weight loss is all over the place here too - sometimes up then down, very frustrating, i am not dong as much as you thou, have to get this bum into gear!

You can take a mild pain reliever such as Tylenol or Advil about 30 minutes prior to nursing or around the clock until your discomfort lessens or disappears. Both of these drugs are compatible with breastfeeding.

Interest

If a child quotes their date of birth, they are entitled to a threshold of $420 per income year on interest. If they don?t quote their date of birth, the threshold is the same as the adult threshold of $120 per income year.

Where the total interest earned during an income year is $420 or more

* if the child quotes a TFN, the investment body will not withhold pay as you go (PAYG) tax, and
* if the child does not quote a TFN, the investment body will withhold PAYG tax at 46.5%.

This applies to the total interest earned (not just the amount above $420, or the payment period threshold equivalent).

If the child has had PAYG tax deducted, they will need to lodge a return to claim these amounts back from the Tax Office. A child who does not have a TFN will need to get one before they can lodge a return.

In all likelihood they're not going to be earning that kind of interest but if some of you do have stacks of cash and find a high interest acc then... well it's good to know this!
