Well we've been out almost all morning, and Emily has been a gem! (and so was Nina), so I treated Nina to Maccas. Now both girls are sound asleep in bed.
Forgot to get Emily weighed, so will do it sometime next week. I know she's gaining weight nicely though as she's really filled out, fitting in 00-000 clothes, and people are commenting on her weight gain.
Just out of curiosity, any using MCN? How are you going with it? I'm now using MCN on both girls, and must say it's certainly not as hard as I imagined it would be. Both girls are big wetters, so I've had to increase my stash though. (any excuse to buy more MCN's, hehehe)

kristale - yeah, pretty lucky so far with night time. Thank goodness though, because Nina was an awful sleeper until she was 6 months old, so I reckon I deserve to have a baby who actually sleeps when they're a newborn

    How is everyone else doing?

Beckstar - Elena is still doing HEAPS of poos - 2, maybe 3 per day. Its crazy. Can't wait for it to slow down. I know what you mean about just hanging in there - I keep telling myself it won't be too much longer before things really turn around and this mummy gig gets to be fun again. Extra tough for you with your DH working nights.

Jodi - Isabelle had silent reflux and is lactose and gluten intolerant so just about everything I ate was exacerbating the reflux. Poor little thing screamed literally 20 hours a day until I finally found an amazing witch doctor person who told me to put her on soy formula. Bingo - new baby. I'm using MCNs on Elena (have done with Izzy since I discovdered them when she was a few months old). They're seriously addictive aren't they (although I tell my DH that I don't buy them because they're so cute!). What are you using on your girls? I am very jealous of your 8 hour nights. Can't wait for that to happen to us. Elena teased me with a 5 hour sleep after feeding for almost an hour but hasn't done it since.

Kristale - I agree with Jodi that its probably a growth spurt. I remember thinking with Izzy that we'd just manage to get through the unsettledness that comes with one growth spurt when she would have another! How did your visit to work go? It was blo*dy freezing here wasn't it.

Laranna - does Joshua have a bit of reflux or colic? It could be why he's going on and off the breast - he's feeding and its upsetting his tummy almost immediately. Definitely just do whatever works with the dummy too - having read all the books and had a definite plan about how I was going to raise my child before DD#1 was born I've now realised that just doing what works is the best way to go - whatever the book says you should or shouldn't do!

Blanche - sounds like we're all suffering at the moment with the two baby syndrome. Hope it gets better for you. Jack is growing beautifully.

Kat - OMG. What are you doing you crazy woman taking on more responsibility???? I told you you were nuts didn't I ;-) I really hope you get some well deserved rest soon

Had the night from hell last night. Elena didn't settle until 1.30 am and work at 3am for a feed. Isabelle ended up in our bed at 2am but was still screaming and at 5.30 am I finally got to bed for some sleep, only to get woken by Elena at 7am for another feed. Had her 6 week check up this morning though and she's doing beautifully. 51 cm length, 35 cm h/c and 3.63kgs at birth. At 6 weeks she is now 57 cm long, 40 cm h/c and 4.4 kgs. She is growing so much more quickly than Izzy did. Went and bought some of the miracle colic mix today too so hopefully that will give her some relief and DH and I some much needed sleep.

Jodi - have been expressing 2-3 times a day but today I have not bothered...just needed a break from it. DS is feeding every 2 hours so its very time consuming. Since taking fenugreek I think my supply has improved or at least my let down has. I can squirt during feeds now whereas before I would just dribble!

Jealous at the 8 hours! I have a stash of baby beehinds and have used them a couple of times but atm I find I have no time for washing normal clothes let alone nappies.

katstribe - I don't know how you do it! Hats off to all of you who went back for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th...I don't know how you manage it. I find it hard with one! With the fussing I was wondering if my flow is fast because he has a wide eyed look on his face and makes gulping noises fo the first 5 minutes then by about 10 minutes he starts squirming.

Lulu - not sure on the reflux, he has only spewed after a feed once but otherwise he doesn't even dribble. Colic is a good possibility. He seems to have a fair bit of wind often so I am trying to burp him during and after feeds. I wonder if this has to do with a fast flow.

As soon as I get the ok to drive at my OB 6 week check next week, I'm going to visit the lactation consultant just to make sure I'm doing everything right.

DS seems to be growing longer but not really filling out...his 0000 wondersuits are becoming a bit short and he fits into 000 much nicer...he;s just not fattening up...I hope he has put on enough weight at his 6 week check...I feel like a bad mum otherwise...the nurse is good though and is very pro-breastfeeding.

Laranna - could be a fast flow - maybe he just can't keep up with it and he's choking a bit? Can you hear him making little choking/gagging sounds? If its colic the pharmacist at Padbury does his own mix and its absolutely brilliant. Elena has had huge colic/wind problems this week and having tried the Brauers, Infacol and Infant's Friend without any success I went today to Padbury to buy some. I've given Elena two doses today and she has so far had a 3.5 hour sleep and is down again at the moment - 75 minutes so far and still out like a light and we've had no screaming today at all. It is really brilliant stuff and well worth the drive to Padbury even if its not convenient to try it if you think that's what his problem could be. I have friends that have all used it too and we all swear by it.

Lulu yep i am nuts! I just can't stand to give up on anything without a fight!
Sounds like Elena is doing extremely well! Also sounds like you are on a winner with the colic relief. You jsut might get a good night tonight (fingers crossed)

Laranna i felt the same way when i had my first and i used to say i would never go back again, and now i have 7!!!!! But definately have no plans of going back for number 8, mind you number 7 was a surprise too! As for your DS growing longer but not fattening up it just might be the way he is. so I wouldnt stress too much, i am sure he is doing well.

Jodi i dont think i am super woman more just an octopus i have become great at multi tasking. As all mums do, its just as we have goats sometimes i have to include them in that too.

Blanche i must have been posting while you were before cause i never saw your post. Aounds like Jack is truly thriving also! Hope things are settling at night for you now. Can i ask what is a velcro baby? I have never heard the term so i have no idea what it means (or i could jsut be a dummy).

Well i have spent all afternoon with my poor little goat, and have been working his legs and massaging them and feeding him,. Already we have had heaps of improvement, he is standing on his own and seemed strong, so i took him down on the grass and he called for his Mummy, she answered him and he started walking towards her! So i took him up to her and he latched on adn she let him feed!!!! This was soo exciting for me, and now he can stay with his mummy and sister who he was cuddling when i left him. Ao now i just have to go up to his pen to give him physio! So now i am back to jsut the one kid to bottle feed and raise and i am very happy about that!

Ok got to go dish up tea now ( i even managed to get the shephards pie cooked) Will catch up tomorow hopefully

lulu - doesn't sound like he is gagging/choking, more like gulping...like if you drink a big glass of water all in one go and you have that breathing for air sound at the end...that's what he sounds like. I might have to try that colic mix if things get worse. Sucking on his dummy seems to help and the Breastfeeding..naturally book from the ABA says that can help with colic too.

Have started to try a routine every evening by giving him a bath at around 6:30 and then feed at 7 and try and settle him to sleep in his cot and then have another feed at either 9 or 10 depending on how long he sleeps.
