    Hi All

I've been in hospital since tuesday with a massive breast abcess and infection. Discharged myself as an outpatient until tuesday when I go back in. Minor surgery seems to have drained most of it though.

TM - hugs sweetie, I hope things pick up for you soon.

Sorry, no persies, need to rest!

Candice you poor thing, I kind of feel your pain.. I have been in hospital since last Saturday with severe mastitis, just got discharged today. Have been on IV antibiotics up until today and now on oral.. I had 2 infections, the one on Saturday (I got so sick so quickly and was admitted straight away) then got another infection on Tuesday. It has been the worst week of my life! So glad to be home but also terrified I'm going to get another infection, my boob still has some lumps that i just can't budge and is still so tender. Liam had been a settled baby but after the week we've had he's bcome a very needy little boy, I hope we get it sorted out soon. Anyway sorry for the selfish post. Candice I really hope you get better soon, I'm thinking of you.

Kelly I feel for you, it really is terrible. Are you able to keep bf? Mastitis hurts sooo bad. I know what you mean about fearing it will come back, I am absolutely terrified of it now. I hope you get some rest.

I was on IV antibiotics for 5 days, now onto oral antibiotics. Xanthe stayed in hospital with me which was great, I could not have survived that long without her. They drained 65 mls on the first day, 220 mls on the second last day, and they think there is 85 mls left to come out. I am so peeved that my GP and the first LC that I saw didn't realise this was an abcess and not mastitis / blocked duct.

    hi everyone,

Oscar- OMG! You poor thing -hope you get some much needed 'home time' now with Xanthe.

TM - hope things are improving and you and Jade are enjoying yourr times together.

Nat - I know what you mean at 3am! Mitchell just loves hanging out between the hours of 12 and 3 am. Rarely do I sleep between those hours

AFM - Apart from not going to his cot to sleep and the night feeds we are going well. I need to master the lay down feed as we plan on going camping soon and I'm pretty sure it will be difficult to sit up in the camping bed in a tent! Mitch is getting better with his pram and I think I'm getting better with wrapping him. We even left him with MIL last night and went to a friends house for a few hours for a party. It felt good but I was glad to come home to him.
    P.S. I LOVE DUMMIES TOO!

    HI girls!

Oscar hope you are on the mend!

TM good to hear things are getting better for you too!

AFM we are in quarantine with a confirmed influenza A case in Jake and all 4 of us are now sick. Dr called this morning with preliminary swab results, just waiting to hear if swine strain or seasonal strain. Feel like crap and Jake has croup as a result of his flu, luckily D has been doing his best to look after Jake while I look after Sophia, and ourselves. She so far has a mild case, very congested but hopefully just a bad cold for her, whereas we have all been hit pretty hard. Touch wood we haven't had to make any hospital trips so far and have been managing the croup with ventolin and have redipred when we need it too, just lucky we have been down that road with Jake before. FIngers crossed Sophia doesn't get the croup or we will def be at the hospital.

Off to bed for us xxxxx

Nelly - I will bring disinfectant and tim tams over on thursday and sms you when I've dumped it at your front door. I am visiting your estate anyway to see my aunt and mother in law . Hopefully all this infection is under control by then and I am fully rested, but I go crazy if I don't get out of the house so I don't mind doing this.

This thread is really quiet, I hope everyone is ok. Nat I haven't heard from you for ages .

Best wishes to OscarOscar, KellyC and Nelly! May the flu and mastitis all go away!

Roses: The lay down feed is the only thing that lets me get some sleep in. He feeds, I sleep!

Nat: hope your supply is doing better. Mine was late coming in, but the baby sucking all the time really helped it go up.

I'm doing okay -- Jonah's inability to sleep anywhere but the boob and the fact that he sometimes wakes up right after he falls asleep at the boob is combining to create sleep deprivation for me. If he wakes up, he just has to wait until the next feed before he can fall asleep again. And he feeds quite aggressively so I can't just top up a few minutes after his last feed, he starts spitting it it back up! I'm hoping that once he's a bit older -- he's just three and half weeks old!-- he'll start being able to sleep when he's tired. Right now, he yawns and looks at me with sleep coming out of his eyes and ears and mouth but simply cannot sleep! Plus, he does not seem to like being swaddled or maybe I'm not doing it right.

Amazed - I couldn't swaddle either at first so I got a wrap called 'snug as a bug' from a baby store (I think babies galore). It was a little expensive but it worked like a charm and it has velcro to secure it and gave me time to perfect my wrapping technique. You can buy some snuggle wraps with a seperate area for bubies legs so that they could go straight into the car etc. Google snug as a bug but there are other ones.

Fingers crossed that all infections go away ladies. Must be hard.

I have a snug as a bug in 000 and the sizing is absolutely huge. Xanthe drowns in it even though she is in 000 clothes now. We use it for car travel when it is cold, but lately have been just putting a blanket over her.

Oscaroscar, I hope you are well on your way to recovery right now. You must be feeling like a truck has hit you, after everything you've gone through.

And Kelly, you've been crook too! And now Nelly's got the flu! What a bunch we are. Healthy vibes to everyone.

Re the swaddles, I do a double swaddle, helps keep their arms in place and fills out those little swaddle dooverlackies nicely. So you swaddle in a cotton sheet or similar non-stretchy thing, and then put them in their little special swaddles. I manage to keep Thomas wrapped up like a mummy all night like that. It's so funny when I let him out of his straightjacket in the morning, the stretches he does!! And immediately fills his nappy, too, I might add.

TM, I hope things are looking brighter for you right now. PND is a horrible thing.

Thomas is keeping me very busy at the moment - I've never had such a full on baby. He feeds so much! The block feeding has helped him a little overnight, and his tummy isn't as windy, but he is still as hungry as ever. A good night is 4 hours, three hours, two hours. A bad night is every hour! I do hope that he settles down soon. He's definitely had a massive growth spurt this week, as well as a developmental one. His smiles are very ready now, and he will smile and coo to get your attention. He is also reaching out to play with his toys now when he is on his play mat.

We have discovered though that he really doesn't like being out and about much - he likes the quiet of home and gets overstimulated and very ratty if we have a day out. That's fine by me as I'm a real home body but dh gets very housebound as he works from home, and so when he's not working, he likes to get out.

I have my six week checkup a week late on Monday. Pap smear on my wedding anniversary! Yayy! Go me! LOL. I wish I wasn't so fat. I had to go and buy size 18 pants last week *cry* because the weight wasn't coming off fast enough and I only had two pairs of anything I could fit into. I've joined a walking group to help shift it.

    Hope everyone is well!

Hi all, things are going well here at the MBU, feel like im getting somewhere with myself and Jade. Jade is on a 3 to 4 hourly feeding schedule during the day, is self settling half the time, and only tends to wake every 4 hrs at nite (last nite was 11pm to 4am, then 5am to 830am...still having trouble getting her to sleep at all during the day though, usually only 2 half hr or hr sleeps during the day.

Will probably be here another week or so, my anxiety has dropped a lot but im taking lerazapram which is only temporary til the lexapro kicks in...
