ah Olivia you are so not lame! Last night we were at dinner up the coast on holiday & Jovie would not stop crying... I was getting pretty peeved pacing outside with a screaming baby & this old lady said "grab your pram I'll walk her back & forth so you can see me, you sit down & eat" I did!! I would never have done that before but I just had too... and then I found out she was the owner of the restaurant who came by to check on things & then was watching me & decided to help us out.
Gigi- I feel so much for you right now *hugs* I responded to your debrief. I did get a great birth experience this time, but not according to plan... I wound up using pain relief & having a 2nd degree tear & grazing (Jovie came out with her hand on her chin). BUT Matilda's birth took me almost 18 months to get over with help... Very traumatic having an emergency c/s. I don't know many who aren't traumatised for some time afterwards.
Meredith - I wish we lived near eachother to come over & help each other have a break once in a while. 40 minutes isn't long enough... I know.
We had a great few days up the coast & I wish I was there for another week. My burn was great, I went for a swim in the ocean & I reckon its almost completely healed now, just looks bad. Doesn't hurt at all anymore YAY!! Well... when Jovie's feeding in bed & scratches me with her toes...thats not very comfortable, but I just have to remember to cut her toenails!!

thanks to everyone who read my birth debrief (it's not expected) and for your words of encouragement. Meredith, I would really like counselling about it, have asked the hospital and ChildYouthHealth nurses, it all comes down to money. i googled Bandl's Ring tonight, we were indeed fortunate to have it happen in this country (if it had to happen at all).

i had so many personals to respond to - now it's hard to remember all the names and what story went with what name!!!
to the mums battling with colic.reflux - that is so hard (we had that about a month ago).
Olivia - i agree with the hands on learning. When you are so tired anyway, any other kind just goes in one ear and out the other. I spent a day with a midwife at CHildYouthHealth learning to settle tiny bilby - it made the world of difference to us. To be told a technique, ask about it, then actually practicise it in front of midwife and talk over any queries on the spot. it was great, tiring but great.
and another thing Olivia - YOU ARE NOT LAME!
I have no family support in real terms, just dh who is at work six days a week. I don't know what i would do without my parenting support worker. She is there to help me from tiny bilby's arrival to when tiny bilby turns three. It's like having a surrogate mum i guess, someone to ask all those questions to.
the only family i have is one auntie who i think will be great once tiny bilby is older (like three) but she is very nervous around babies. She means well and contacts me bout once a week to see if i need any food shopping done. She means well.
oh, and the Parenting Helpline - that magnet is on the fridge always!!
and the Aust Breastfeeding Assoc helpline too.
that is where i get my support from. and all the lovely people i meet online on threads like this.
Still in process of buying a new to me car. Can't wait to be independent again, first thing i will do is take tiny bilby to get that rota virus thing, then to the anticancershop to get her a legonairres hat with straps so we can go to a park without me being worried about her burning. Then playgroup! yeh! Can't wait to be around other mums with bubs her age - like this group online but in real life!! lol
