    Morning everyone!

Happy birthday Saffi!!! I hope you have a wonderful day and get spoilt!

    Becky
    - Well done again on the weight loss! Kieran needs to be wrapped still too, he hates having his arms free. It will be a great day when we don't have to wrap these bubs!

Willow - You must feel so relieved knowing your little man's head is OK! How stressful for you though. Did you try the sleep positioner last night?

Celtic - Hope Ryan is being good for his mummy!

Leah - Sorry you are having such a hard time of it ATM. I swear there is something in the air! I hope Amara starts sleeping better for you soon

Julia - Sorry to hear Max is being unsettled. Breastfed babies can go up to 2 weeks without a poo! They can definitely get unsettled when they are backed up. Kim's suggestions are great, I'd give them a go! And watch out for a monster poo sometime soon!!

Well, we had a better night last night. Not a peep from Joel and Kieran woke up twice, but I was able to resettle him and stretch him out until he woke for a feed at 4:15am. This is a VAST improvement after the last few days!! Hopefully he'll start stretching out longer again soon.

We have Joel's first kinder visit today. It is only for an hour and I stay for it so it won't be too bad. I'll have to wear Kieran in his Baby Bjorn though so I don't know how my back will hold up!

    Have a great day everyone!

Trish - we tried the positioner but he wouldn't settle with it in the cot, as soon as we took it out, he settled straight off to sleep, so that was a no go too!

I'm glad to hear Kieran had a good night though, good to hear someone did! LOL. Good luck at kinder today! I had to put L in the baby bjorn too and he's a porker - he's up to 7.2kg!!!

    Happy Birthday Saffi!!!!!

Trish - good luck to you and Joel with his 1st day of kinder!

I had my mothers group yesterday and the topic we discussed was self settling... to cut a long story short, the MCHN has given me a referral to the Tweddle day stay clinic to help with my settling. As you probably remember, Tahlia only really falls asleep at the boob. The MCHN suggested I put her down awake but sleepy, and if she cries, let her go for 2 minutes then go in and try to resettle her without picking her up... I can't do it though! I have to pick her up when she cries!!!!

    Hi all

Thank you all for your birthday wishes. I am having a great day. L started it off by sleeping a whole extra hour and letting me sleep in. He and my puppies then gave me a stickblender as a present. In a way it is a present for him as I will use it to make purees and mashed veg for him when he is older. In the meantime tho I will make heaps of ice slushies for me! DH taking me to dinner tonight.
Kim - thanks for the calorie free cake. LOL

Leah - Sorry to hear your having a bad time of it. I have often felt like banging my head on a wall. Don't do it too often or too hard tho.

    Back later

ah, wake up and smell the poo, minimax!

where's that Amelia got to? did i miss her post?

james absolutely stacks his nappy every morning at 5.30. it's like his wakeup poo. thing is, it will even explode out of a crawler nappy. i'm thinking i might have to put him in a toddler for sleep to catch his morning carp. i'm a bit tired of fishing him out of a pooey suit in the morning (and a pooey wrap, pooey bed etc etc). sounds worse than it is, but there's always a bit of carp that goes through to the sheet. meh.

i know they say BF babies can hold on for a long time, it just ain't never happened with this boy.

ameliaaaa... as a fellow big boy haver, what nappies is rhys in at night?

Saffi! Hope you have a FAB day.

Sorry to hear about everyone having a bad time with sleeping etc... hope it improves for you soon!

Willow - hope that everything is aok with your little man, and the head thing is genetic. One of the bubs in my mother's group has a HUGE head and the MCHN told the mum that it was a concern - but she took him to the GP and he said not to worry as everyone in her family has big heads lol. So hopefully be the same for yours.

Well Kaylee is officially teething as far as I can tell... but still sleeping through the night, thank god! 2-nights ago she just screamed and screamed and wouldn't take her bottle, so eventually I put her to bed at around 8pm and she went off to sleep, slept until 5.30am - only drank half what she normally does first thing in the morning. Took her to my pram-fit class and talked to the mums there = very common for teething to put them off their food etc, they recommended Nurofen as it is an anti-inflammatory so more effective for teething than panadol. Went to the chemist - had a chat to the lady about Kaylee - she also definitely thinks she is teething and agreed Nurofen the best option, but if she gets really bad then you can also give panadol about 1-2 hours after giving Nurofen. Anyways, yesterday she only had half what she normally drinks at all of her feeds, had a few screaming moments - so gave her some Nurofen - then had some bleeding gums - but still no tooth. She still slept from about 7pm through to 5.45am this morning - which is awesome! She has been better today?? Will let you know as soon as we have a tooth!! Oh, BTW she has been drooling for ages and ages now, and started 'chomping' down on things about a week ago...

Anyways - I better go get organised, having an under cover wear party today to help a friend out who is just starting out...

Have a great weekend everyone! Hope your babies start sleeping more for you.

Viv I'm pretty sure Amelia left the thread over the Cath thing.

Peta how exciting, think Maddi may start teething soon as-well. Not looking forward to her being more a grumpy bum.

Viv - I've got a pretty big boy too, he's 7.2kg, not sure how big James is? We are still in small (newborn) nappies but they are the Aldi Mamia brand and are a much more generous fit than huggies etc. Having said that, he'll be out of them very soon.

Kellie - hearing you on the self settling business! We've been at it for quite a few weeks and DS settles beautifully to sleep on his own (sometimes with a pat or a cuddle to help him along) but the resettling after one sleep cycle is a work in progress. We're getting there though! It's totally worth it if that's what you want to do, makes life so much easier later on. We're off to sleep school on 26th Feb (but on the short list for cancellations) for a day stay too. Just for a refresher and a bit of reassurance in our case. I'm pretty sure I'm doing all I can but a bit of support never hurts.

Oh and with the head thing - his head doesn't actually look big to us. Never noticed it until the paed had a look at his growth charts yesterday.

**ETA - Tresillian just called, we're doing our day stay on Monday - woo hoo!!

james would be around 7.3 ish at the mo. the thing is he is very long, so he was out of huggies newborns immediately, then the infants were too short in the bum for him.

so mamias are ok for you then?

I found Mamias leak up the front with poo's...maybe thats just jasmine tho..LOL

I use Crawler Coles nappies...bit big....so prefer infant size...but DH got the crawler the other week.

Great news Willow about your day stay..i hope it helps

Viv - yeah, I think they're great. He needs to go up to the next size but I found they were a bit long in the waist for him a few weeks ago (going to try them again next week), so they'd probably be perfect for james - and $16 for 50 something, can't go wrong! I've never had leaks with them, other than when he was in the bigger size and they were slipping down off his bum!

We brought Maddi a tickle me Elmo, at first she was laughing because he was laughing then he started to move & she started crying.
It was sooo cute. So she only likes Elmo when he's in one position & laughing.
