    Good morning everyone!

Unfortunately Kieran and Joel didn't get the memo that daylight savings finished and were up far too early this morning, blurrgghh! Well, we had our best night yet last night (since the earlier days that is), K went to bed at 7:15pm, had a dream feed at 10pm and slept without waking once until 5:15am! I fed him, but he didn't really go back to sleep properly so we got up at 6:30am. It was nice to have such a big block of unbroken sleep! I am actually dreaming at night again, I haven't had dreams for ages because I could never get into a really deep sleep (I'm usually a vivid dreamer), but now they are back!! So it has taken 5 nights of some minor controlled crying (I haven't left him alone and I comforted him after 5 minutes) and by night 6 he has slept through, hooray! He woke up happily for his morning feed so I can only guess that my persistance has paid off. Hopefully he will learn to sleep a bit later soon

Alz - Sorry you have been feeling a bit down lately . Re: losing pregnancy weight - I lost all of mine the first time around and like you was still a size bigger in clothing. I think it is because our bodies broaden to accomodate bubs. You will eventually get a bit closer to your normal size, but if you're planning on another bub in the near future it may not happen for a while yet.

Julia - I hope you're not coming down with a cold, there is nothing worse than having a clingy bub and not feeling well yourself. I've been there a lot lately! Re: solids, I mixed some pumpkin and sweet potato in with K's rice cereal the other day, but if you want to give him vegies straight, it won't hurt. You decide!

Ange - Congrats on Lu cutting a tooth!!! What a clever girl! Hopefully she will be nice and happy for a while before she cuts her next one. Don't worry about weight loss just yet, it took me 9 months to lose all of mine after I had Joel. My theory is that it took 9 months to put it on, so it should take at least 9 months to lose it again! By the time Lu is 12 months old I'm sure you will be back to your normal self. Though I'm sure you still look great anyway!

Leah - Congrats on Amara's tooth too! I am so impressed that you manage to look after two girls, sew nappies and play soccer!

Saffi - Have fun at the workshop. I can tell you are one of those people who love cooking, I wish I did, but I loathe it. I only do it because I HAVE to! Lachlan is lucky to have a mum who loves making food!

Viv - It sounds like James is teething to me. Can you get your MCHN to poke around in his mouth to check? I'm thinking of calling mine and asking is she can check K's mouth out. When Joel was teething he would go back to normal as soon as the tooth cut the surface. Then we'd go through it all again! He usually had two bad nights, then a tooth would appear. You can use those trolley seat covers as soon as bub is able to sit up in a normal trolley seat. I think Joel was around 6 months old when he could sit up in one of those seats.

Nic - Thanks! I don't feel like super-mum atm. I feel like a bit of a failure to be honest! I am so disappointed in myself that I haven't been coping very well. I'm usually pretty good at holding things together! Hope you and the boys have fun at the circus!

Mo - How did the move go? Are you all settled in?

I have recently lost another 2kgs so I only have 2 more to go to be pre-preg weight. That means I have lost 19 kilos! That sounds like such a huge amount of weight, yikes!

Anyway, better go, K is in his Jolly Jumper and I suppose I should get him out. I'm trying to get one of those exersaucers to plonk him in for a change of scenery. He gets so frustrated just playing on the floor after a while.

    Have a great day all!

    *Blaaaaah*

Sleep has definitely taken a dive around here....very frustrating because I had just started feeling really good about our sleep and felt like we had things sorted. I really hope it's teeth, although can't see anything yet so not pinning my hopes on it.

After 5 months, I'm starting to get a bit sick of the broken sleep...only hope that once he's on solids he starts to sleep through. If not, might have to use some of your tactics Trish (congrats on such a big sleep! I can only dream of that around here...). I promised myself I wouldn't force the issue until he was on solids and a bit older.

willow - i'm with you on that. the monkey is not sleeping particularly well but i'm not going to start any kind of aggressive 'sleep-through' strategy until he's on solids and i'm sure he doesn't really need a night feed. he's pretty into it at the mo and will let the neighbourhood know if i try and resettle him.

when are we supposed to give breastfed babies extra water? when they start solids? when they're drooling so much to replace lost fluid? and... how much?

    Morning all

Willow - I hear ya on the sleep.
We got L up at 10pm last night and DH looked after him while I went to bed. I think he put him down at around 11.30. I was up to him at 2am, and a few times after that for the dummy, then at 5.30am. I have been having weird dreams so I am getting into REM sleep but just not that deep comatose sleep. Hoping solids will help.
DH will be taking the night shift when I go back to work in a month, but after that I hope L is sleeping through as I don't want to be up during the night and then have to face work.

Trish - Sprung! Yes, I am a bit of a foodie but to be honest I love eating more than cooking, so it is more a means to an end. Also since being at home I have watched practically every episode of Ready Steady Cook (both versions) and Hughies Cooking Adventures so I have heaps of inspiration.
WTG on dropping so much weight! Thats amazing! Well done! Been going in the opposite direction myself with the weight lately. Now that I am not pregnant or breastfeeding I guess I have to watch the calories. Was nice not to worry about weight for a year!

Day at home today. Got washing and ironing to do. Ho hum...

Viv - no, not really, but then I have never exclusively BF him. I noticed that when I started doing more FF than BF, he put on a lot of weight and slept better.

I still express and get around 150mls a day. Have noticed over the last few days not a lot of milk in there even with the meds. I think I am just flogging a dead horse keeping this expressing thing going. It takes up to an hour to get very little and frankly is time that could be spent doing other things. As I am back to work soon it is probably best to wean him completely so I don't have to worry about my supply and how I can express etc.

Viv - thanks for the suggestion, but I found it at another chemist.

Trish - glad to hear sleeps are improving for you.... you'll feel like a new woman with all this unbroken sleep!

Way to go on all those bubs who have cut teeth! My nephew has a wobbly tooth at the moment, so I told him that the when it falls out, the tooth fairy will give it to Tahlia... he was excited by that idea... so cute!

Willow - Oh how I hear you on sleep! Just when I think K has it all worked out he goes and changes it, gaaahhh! He flat out refuses to sleep any more than 40 minute naps during the day ATM. And his nights...he used to do good stretches and then got into the habit of waking two hourly. Last night was the first good night we have had in around 2 months. I wish I knew why they do this to us!! L sounds like a hungry man, he is an awesome size and obviously needs you to keep him going o'night right now. I'm sure once he is on solids he will sleep better for you. Just know you are not alone!!

Saffi - I love to eat, just not to cook lol! I am so undomesticated, I only cook when I have to (which is dinner every night). You have done such a fantastic job expressing for L! When you decide to stop you can feel very proud of yourself

Kellie - How are Tahlia's day sleeps going?

My wonderful mum turned up unannounced this morning and has been doing my housework! She's so naughty, but so sweet.

Viv - yeah, a bit. Funny since being on Mat Leave I haven't really missed work at all. Miss the money tho. I definitely think my mind is turning to custard so looking forward to some adult conversations that don't involve bodily functions.
Kellie - what a cute story to tell your nephew. I hope the tooth fairy heard it.
Trish - thank you! I am proud of myself. At least I know I didn't give up through lack of trying. Wow, your mum is excellent. I wish someone would come over and do my housework!

Did a new playtime activity with L today. I made bubbles and blew them towards him. He was captivated and knew that I was making them. When they popped he would turn to me as if to say "c'mon mum make some more". Can't wait until he can make them himself.
