I'm back ... did ya miss me? I'm sure you all did!!

Well we had a great time away spending quality time with Heath. It was the first time since we've been together that we've really had a holiday together (except for our honeymoon). Visited friends and rellies in Townsville which was nice. Nina though is a different story ...
She's still going through the growth spurt, big time, and feeding every 2 hours, DAY AND NIGHT! She's been very cranky this week and pooing 3-4 times daily. She has about 4 teeth coming through, which are taking their time, and causing her a lot of grief.
But she's learnt some new movements this week:
    * she's started sitting up unsupported
    * bringing her legs up and playing with her toes (she started this about a month ago but does it all the time now, even when in the pram!)
    * saying new baby babble using her tongue, as if she's trying to put words together
    * laughing, instead of a little giggle it's a proper laugh

But the biggest thing is that when she had her needles done 3 weeks ago she weighed 6.2kg, now she weighs 7.5kg and is in 0 size clothes!!! No idea how long she is.
While we were away I didn't give her any solids, but with this feeding every 2 hours day and night I'm going to start it again and see how that goes.

Sorry for no personals, there was over 100 posts to read through and even though I've read them all, can't for the life of me remember what's going on!

Hey girls, glad your holiday was good Jodi. Clever Nina, sounds like she's learning a lot! (And feeding a lot, wow)

Hey Mel, that's great Kiara's being so good for you.

Caddie, I bet your local uni could tell you what you would need. Or maybe Shell can! I forgot you were a nurse Shell!

Yay on Ruby's weight Caddie, man sounds like Millana was tiiiiny!

Oh Ambz, I reckon I'm more of a cow to dh now we've got River too! Maybe cos I'm more tired than usual and more inclined to be grumpy? I find I really have to bite my tongue at times.

AnnaT, I am always exhausted these days, and River's been sleeping through for weeks! No idea what the go is with that. I haven't been able to get to sleep before 1am the last couple of nights, which is really frustrating since I'm so tired. Hope I can sleep tonight!

Anna, man I really hope you can get over east this year! I'd love to go west sometime, and when I do, you can bet your bottom dollar we'll be dropping in on you guys!

You've got an overlocker too Maz? Awesome! I'm not at the nappy making stage yet...I'll work my way there...though buying nappies IS pretty fun!

Well, I might make myself a big hot milo to try and help me sleep. Nite girls. xo

Sounds exactly like Xander... 'cept thank goodness he isn't pooing like Nina. yikes. I reckon Nina weighs the same as Xander now (he's around 7.5kg and going into 0's)

    ****, he's awake again.. bbl.

Hey Shell, you wouldnt happen to know what Uni's/Schools run just the midwifery courses? Ive always wanted to be a nurse specifically to become a midwife. It would be great if I could just by pass the normal nursing and just study to be a midwife. Im too lazy to do both lol After having only midwives at my birth because Mr Jett decided to throw convention into the wind and do exactly the opposite of what first time babies should do (take their time to come) I definately see midwifery as my calling, they were fantastic!

Well Ive decided to take Buddha with me when I go to Sydney for the 21st party. My sister is going to babysit and put him to bed while Im out and even offered to have her boy/friend drop me off and pick me up so I can get snozzled That wont be happening, I'll only have to SNIFF alcohol on someone's breath and be staggering all over the place. Its been ages since Ive had anything alcoholic to drink - I think last count is was 2 years Thats my problem hehehehe

Well Im off to bed as Buddha is down for the night - he fell asleep on his playmat spot on 10:30. What a good little boy!

    Morning all,

Adele- Poor thing, tell Riley from me to let you get some sleep! Maybe you could hire a hammock and see if he'll sleep better in one of those so your not up every night pacing.

AnnaT- Sorry don't know off hand which uni's run them. Maybe check out Deakin or LaTrobe. They didn't have the courses when I finished high school, had to do the nursing first. You'll prolly feel alot better taking Jett with you to Sydney, I reakon if you left him at home you'd be worrying the whole time.

Jodi- Glad you had a great time. Nina sounds like she has been thru a huge developmental stage. Sucks on the regular feeding though. Really tires you out. Sounds though like Nina prolly does need solids.

Mel- i think a few of the bubs here have been thru a funny stage. Ash was the same round Xmas and all that week, very clingy and wouldn't settle, couldn't even leave the room without fuss.

caddie- I think you need to be RN first but if your already an EN I think you can do the RN course over 2 years instead of the 3 then do the midwife course. I think it depends on the university. Otherwise you could just go and do the 3 year midwifery course. Both would take same time but you'd prolly be better off doing RN then the midwife course.

My sister and nephew are coming over again today. James is very gorgeous he loves coming here and we always go down to the park. Its really nice, 5 min walk from my place and it has a lake and we feed the ducks.
After Ashleigh's one night of sleeping 8.5 hrs straight she's gone back to waking 3 times a night again! No wonder I feel so tired, at least when they woke that often in the first few weeks I could rest in the day but cause she only has short naos now don't get much sleep!

Golly Gosh! I can't believe that some of these bubba's are fitting into 0 clothes... Kiara has Just gone completely into 000, last week I put all her 0000 away and got all the 000 out... She is still in NB from pumpkin patch, but fits into 0-3 months nicely now, I don't think she will be in the 3-6 months for a while!!!

I reckon she is weight around the 6kg mark... I tried her on solids the other day as she wasn't taking her bottle, but she wasn't interested, she kept pushing it out with her tongue, so she isn't ready yet... might try again in a few weeks as she has been quite chucky. She still feed 3-4 hourly during the day but I have just upt her bottles to 210 mls (which makes about 240mls of formula) and she isn't leaving too much of it behind!

What do you girls think... am I on the right track?

shell - I agree, I think it's definitely time for solids. Have started again this morning and will continue every day now.

mel - I think you're on the right track. She'll let you know when she's had enough, she must have needed the extra bit of formula now.

anna** - is Xander feeding heaps at night too? How are you going with it? I'm so tired, thankfully she still likes to come into bed with me in the mornings and go back to sleep otherwise I couldn't cope with starting the day any earlier than 9am when I've been up every 2 hours during the night to feed her.

Jodi - Yep, Xander is feeding heaps at night too... it is really starting to wear me down, especially as I'm the only one with boobies in this house. I could cope if he actually slept, but he is only sleeping for about 7 - 9 hours total in 24 hours at the moment. I know that is nowhere near enough for a bubba this little - but he just wont settle.

I'm at a complete loss right now as to what to do!

Sorry girls for no other personals, I'm a bit down at the moment (might have something to do with lack of sleep)... but I am reading what you are all up to and loves yas all.

thanks girls... I want to wait til she's a bit older, i think!

Anna Bummer about no sleep... I am so lucky with Kiara... have you thought of starting solids or adding a formula feed??? just an idea... a happy baby equals a happy mum... and thats what counts... I hope you feel better soon.

Anna, I know exactly how you feel about being down at the moment. With little or no sleep, I've been in tears most of the day. I organised to meet some girlfriends for lunch today and the whole time they gooed over one of the other girls bub, who is 7 months old, and just talked between themselves. I felt really out of touch with them and when I got back in the car had a good cry. I wish there was a quick fix for the solution with our bubs, but unfortunately I don't think there is. I guess I've just got to go with the flow and hope and pray she starts sleeping again soon.
Is it normal for bubs to poo so much in one day? She's done about 6 today?!?!
