MD - I am still resettling her without a feed if she wakes less than 5 hours from initially going down. That generally works within 30 minutes, if not I feed (only done that once). The last couple of nights she has gone for more than 5 hours so I fed her when she woke. Both nights still had 2 night feeds, the first feed she went down and fell asleep straight away or within 5 minutes. The next feed she was unsettled, did a poo after 20 minutes, then resettled in another 20 minutes after a nappy change. So at the moment I actually get back to bed faster if I don't feed her!! Today I've had 15 minutes sleep since 5:10 (she finally was aleep at 6:15, only to wake at 7:15 and it took me 45 minutes to get back to sleep) - feeling pretty good actually compared to normal, hopefully will crash when my head hits the pillow.

In summary though I don't think there has been much progress. We have decided not to talk about her sleeping issues with others because I am over the excuses / solutions everyone keeps offering! (Of course I reserve the right to whinge to you ladies when I need to!!) 'Sleeping Like a Baby' has been good, will have to get DH to read some of it.

How is it going in your neck of the woods?

Pinky is speaking at a sleep seminar - March 27, Convention Centre. It was in an email newsletter Kelly sent around the other day.

Leanne - that sounds nice, snuggling up to a little body all night!

Cally, I think it's a really good idea to stop talking about it, it takes up too much emotional energy. Just do what works on any given night and eventually it will get easier. The midnight pooing's a PITA though, save it for daytime Katie!

We've had a few nights where E has slept really really well (ie only one get up) and a few where we have been up 3 or 4 times. But with DH home we're pretty relaxed about it. I've started feeding E in bed sometimes too which helps you to feel like you've had more sleep (even if you haven't). Plus we can get away with really dim lighting now whereas when I was having attachment problems we always had to have a slightly brighter lamp on which always made E wake up more.

Bummer we won't be here on the 27th. Will you come up for it?

Noni, making homemade toys, what a stroke of genius! Is that for the song "Five little ducks went out one day, over the hill and far away..."? We already sing that to E cos she likes the quackquackquack bit and there aren't too many words for mummy's tired brain to remember. LOL

Haley, the interest rates keep going up and up here too. They are at 10.2% at the moment. And petrol here is crazy, it is currently $1.79per litre. I don't cook anything for the mesh bag, he just slobbers, sucks and squishes it out.

Gracie, I am glad we moved to the bigger sized nappies - they fit so much better. I think he must be wide across the waist because he is supposed to fit them for another 3 kilos but the grip tabs were right on the edge. The toddler nappies are for 10-15kg but he is 8kg and they fit perfectly.

Cally, it is much easier to just keep quiet when people ask how they are sleeping. Everyone seems to know the magic cure that will instantly get you a full night sleep lol. W is still waking about 4 times a night but I have had him in bed with me so I just feed him and go back to sleep so it hasn't been too bad. I don't think I have slept longer than 4 hours in one go this entire year. Midnight pooing isn't fun.

Noni, well done on the home made craftyness.

Leemar, it was cold here the other night and it was so nice to cuddle up to Will.

Ozstar, how did Logans vaccinations go? Hope he was a brave boy and didn't cry.

I have just realised that I don't know who does the vaccinations here, if I need to take him to the Dr or if the plunket nurses can do it. I signed up for a doctor in town but then someone said he should have retired years ago so I want to change to someone different. There is some crazy system here where you register with a particular doctor and if you get prescriptions from them it is $3 but if you go to a random doctor they charge $15 for the same medicine. They must have changed it while I was gone.

I asked the receptionist at the Dr's where you have babies around here and she said you don't. There is nowhere to have them. There are midwives in the area and a small hospital the next town over at the military base but since I will be 'high risk' because of GD I will have to travel 2 hours to hospital. That doesn't sound very appealing. Not that #2 is happening for a while yet, just wanted to be prepared.

Sherie, after saying I thought that it wasn't worth getting the rotovirus vaccine, there was an outbreak that affected 48 soliders in the next town. I guess it is more common than I thought.

    Hi Girls,

Well tonight I have 2 boys in the bed. I think I will put them both back in there own beds when I am ready for bed.

Sherie - What a wonderful pressie. You lucky girl . Hey we were married the same year. But I dont think I will be getting any pressies.
Noni- I use to sing that to the boys when they were little and they loved it and now I sing it to Olivia. I usually do it when crying and they instantly stop crying. I also sing if your happy and you know it clap your hands. They like that one too.

My brother came over tonight and fitted some new flick mixer in the kitchen and a new spout in the bathroom for me so I fed him dinner and he helped me bath the boys. I put Olivia in her bath and she loved it she was splashing the water and laughing like crazy it was so funny.

Art- I love snuggling and its good too cause my boys are like there daddy, they are warm as toast.

Hello to everyone and sweet dreams to all

I've been popping in and out of here on and off today and completely forgot to post!

I am feeling a fair bit better today - due mainly to having a better sleep last night I think. But I can't stop sweating and I feel like my body temp is a gazillion degrees. So I have been drinking heaps of water cause I feel so thirsty all the time. Hopefully this is the tail end of it.

I had Alister on the floor late this afternoon in our sun room I suppose you'd call it and the sun was coming in through the window and shining on the floor making a pattern and he kept trying to grab at the sunlight LOL. It was so funny to watch him reach out and try to get it, only to look really confused when he couldn't get it LOL. I just love the fact that he knows *nothing* kwim? like he can do what he was doing and not have a clue it was only sunlight on the floor

i tell you what, with all this talk of nursery rhymes and stuff - all of you should go out and grab a copy of The Wiggle "Pop go the wiggles" DVD - its all nursery rhymes and it's just fantastic. Paige has watched it everyday nearly since I got it at the concert and I sing along with it too and Alister loves it - he sits there riveted listening to us sing along. Also good if your memories of nursery rhymes are a bit fuzzy - has all the great ones Five little ducks (Paiges fave) Oranges and Lemons, the full version of Twinkly twinkle little star - theres 45 odd songs on there.
